  1. It's over today. I will miss watching it on TV :(
  2. 'I'm Gonna Get You' sounds like an admission the 1991-2 rave era is over (which it sort of was, after the novelty tracks), its very 1990 pre-91-2 rave era sounding a bit of an underwhelming hit compared to their previous ones but it is still catchy I suppose.
  3. The Libertines
  4. The classics keep coming - Sleeping Satellite is a great pop song.
  5. I used to think it was named after Persepolis which was the capital of the Persian Empire.
  6. Should have sent Life Is A Flower
  7. I think the Outhere Brothers copied 2 in a Room! 'Secret Love' and its key changes is good.
  8. The one that sounds like a low top 40 1995 hit, 'Come Back To Me'. '5am' KI/KI good too. 'Two Hearts' is a decent enough tune, the production is very Robyn and Kleerup. 'Share The House' is like an inferior Martin Solveig and Sam White - +1 from 10 years ago! No to the LSR/City Smiths cover.
  9. House of Love is so Shamen influenced - is it better than Take That - It Only Takes A Minute? Yes, probably for me!
  10. So he mostly has more mid tempo Daft Punk influenced stuff like Desperado Vespa or not? So we will watch through fingers this year.
  11. 'Tragedy' is a good song but Bee Gees have better. I think I prefer the Steps version with the chimes too.
  12. Sounds like an improvement from Chrystal's other songs which I wasn't a big fan of. Still a bit too minimal and basic though.
  13. 'Its My Life' is epic how it builds and also has a cool acid house production.
  14. 'Another Brick' is iconic. Not that unusual instrumental production for the time though; it is quite disco influenced. It's the vocals that make it stand out. The video of the massive walking hammers at the end!
  15. 'Witch Doctor' was a kids disco favourite. 'You Get What You Give' is very good, I remember being on the radio a lot. Des'ree 'U Gotta Be' similarly. 'Turn Around' is a bit overrated and its production is not that interesting compared to other disco house tracks like 'You Don't Know Me', I like the message of encouragement in the lyrics though. 'No Scrubs' iconic of course! Sent people to the dictionary wondering what a 'scrub' was in this context! 'Flat Beat' was early electro and bassline garage wrapped into one. Don't remember it from the time though.

Didn't take part in any contests but I know and like Alphaville - Sounds Like A Melody. The melody of the fast bit of that song was sampled by Cappella's 1993 #2 hit 'U Got 2 Let the Music'. 80s influencing 90s!
  17. 'Walking On Broken Glass' is great, I prefer it to 'Why'.
  18. 'Rip It Up' is good, the first song to use what would become the acid house style bassline. Orange Juice not to be confused with Oran "Juice" Jones who had a 1986 hit. 'Life For Rent' is melancholy but a good song.
  19. It does reminds me a bit of Tulisa - Young though in production which maybe isn't the best.
  20. Not very good. 'So Much In Love' was way better than this! 'Think About Us' is better than this too.
  21. 'She Wolf' is very good, there were some great emotive dance songs in the early 2010s charts and we don't have many in the chart nowadays sadly.
  22. There was no live TOTP performance of 'Rhythm is a Dancer' and only the video was played? That a shame. The Felix tune is very good and its synth riff is very influential for later dance music. Eastside Beat were indeed first in the revival of old hits in the house sound, and their one is better than Undercover Baker Street but its still a good cover. I still prefer the original though I think. 'Best Things In Life Are Free' is so 90s and nostalgic. A rare foray into house music for the US stars (albeit quite poppy), Don't know why there weren't as many house hits in America in the 90s as the UK.
  23. 🔔 I prefer 'Ring My Bell' to 'YMCA', the latter a bit overplayed over the years, and I prefer the electronic dings and dongs and sweet vocal of 'Ring My Bell'. Although YMCA was ground breaking for LGBTQ+ representation as you say. 'Ring My Bell' is also used in a TV advert for an investment company called AJ Bell.
  24. I know No More Heroes as it was the name of a compilation of 70s and 80s new wave and punk hits.
