  1. Well done John on the double 39. Round 1: 27 Can't Fight The Moonlight (I seem to have a mental block with that song as I couldn't think of it last time either), Leif Garrett/Forrest/Shakin' Stevens Round 2: 33 The Nightlife 3 in 10: 2 Matthew And Son, Father And Son
  2. Oh, I didn't know they released a new album this year. I'll have a listen some time.
  3. There are so many fantastic songs on that list. One that I'd like to pick out is your favourite from 1983, 'Up The Down Escalator', as it's not well known. I entered 'A Person Isn't Safe Anywhere These Days' from the same album into one of the song contests on here.
  4. Round 1: 30 Song For Guy (should have got that but thought of Daniel as I knew it was about a person), the year Round 2: 30 I Wonder Why, Bon Jovi 3 in 10: 3 Pearl's A Singer, Lilac Wine, No More The Fool
  5. Congratulations RobBot on winning this. Your song was 20th in my own rankings. It's great to see my top 3 finishing 2nd, 3rd and 4th, all very good discoveries. Thanks to everyone who gave points to 'Colours' and to AllStarBySmashMouth for hosting.
  6. Thanks Dobbo for the ten points.
  7. Thanks to Scene and Leww for some more points.
  8. I thought Brer might have been the one who entered Kero Kero Bonito.
  9. Thanks to CowTzy for the 12 points and Wardy for the 5. Otherwise, Phil Collins not doing well so far but I didn't expect him to.
  10. Well done both of you on those 39s. Round 1: 36 Badfinger Round 2: 36 The year 3 in 10: 3 Avalon, The Same Old Scene, Virginia Plain
  11. 9th - 15th December 1965 29. Don't Fight It - Wilson Pickett https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeNCcGk_Q2o A reasonable follow-up to 'In The Midnight Hour' with good contributions from the horn section and backing singers. 30. Keep On Running - The Spencer Davis Group https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6LVI1gDswg I like this a lot with its distinctive guitar sounds and a mature lead vocal from a 17 years old Steve Winwood. The Birmingham group had three singles peaking from 41-47 before this one which will go all the way to number 1. It's a cover of a reggae song by the Jamaican, Jackie Edwards. 36. My Girl - Otis Redding https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iPtG_O8w8g The Temptations version only got to number 43 in March but this cover will do much better, reaching number 11. It's the first hit for Otis who sounds great on it but the arrangement is very similar to the original. Record of the week : 2. Day Tripper / We Can Work It Out - The Beatles It has to be this double A side. Day Tripper has that memorable guitar riff but I prefer We Can Work It Out which is more musically complex with the harmonium being used to good effect. This will be the Christmas number 1 and will spend five weeks at the top of the chart.
  12. I'm glad you are feeling a bit better. Round 1: 27 The year, Good Tradition, Dream Academy (I love Life In A Northern Town but their name eluded me) Round 2: 36 The year 3 in 10: 3 Iron Lion Zion, Could You Be Loved, Three Little Birds We managed to name eight of his songs between the three of us.
  13. Rory McIlroy Lando Norris Harry Kane Joe Root Julian Cash & Lloyd Glasspool (Ranked number 1 in men's doubles and Wimbledon champions) I've put the last two as a pair, hope that's OK, Torvill and Dean won the SPOTY award once.
  14. I think this match will be over today before the lights come on. Australia's batting and bowling has been so much better than England's.
  15. Sent my vote in. The standard was high, no flimsy three minute songs.
