  1. It could just be appreciation of existing investments. 5% is a reasonable return.

Huge numbers for Post Malone. The album will also benefit hugely from the album equivalent streaming.

https://www.theguardian.com/music/2018/apr/...-music-industry Really interesting article from the Guardian around streaming.

I thought it was touch and go with Pink last year, but What About Us was an out the gate smash. No idea if they’ll support her next era though. They’re pretty swift like that. Like All the Lovers was a-listed for weeks, but by the time the third from Aphrodite came they wouldn’t touch her.
  5. Surprised that the Liam song isn’t even top 20. I’m surprised that there doesn’t seem to be an obvious breakout solo star from One Direction. I thought it might be Zayn, but his new song isn’t doing well either. The albums have done okay, but I think the honeymoon period is definitely over.
  6. I think the Ariana single is a solid 8/10, but I think people are doing way too much on some of the forums, calling it single of the year etc. I mean I can think of 4 Ariana singles that are better than this one. I guess it’s too early to tell what’s in store for the song over the next few weeks, but I’m a little surprised she’s not crushing the competition at this point, given how high profile she is,
  7. It's odd how Stop Me From Falling isn't in "Today's Hits" on the main Apple page. I don't think Dancing was either when it was high top 5. Apple and Spotify really aren't here for Kylie getting a hit single this era.
  8. Yeah, I don't think they're playing it anymore. I think they played it for 2 weeks a few weeks ago.
  9. For a song that hasn't had any major radio play for weeks, Dancing is doing spectacularly well. You've got to wonder how big a hit it would have been if commercial radio had gotten on board or if it had been added to Spotify playlists. Though, as first week sales of Golden have demonstrated, Kylie doesn't need either to be successful.

Will be interesting to see if Kylie can outsell the Manic Street Preachers next week. She's ahead on Amazon, but behind on iTunes, I reckon their sales will be very frontloaded.
  11. I think Kylie and Spotify is a lost cause. Even with the popup about the album, she's managed album equivalent streams of 1,143 on a current total of 40,685. She's sold nearly 6 times more on vinyl than streaming which tells you all you need to know about the music consumption habits of the average Kylie listener in 2018.
  12. I don't think this is right, pretty sure there's been no change (18 and 21)
  13. Presumably to increase sales of the parent album?
  14. Again, there is no midweek thread yet, but Golden sold 7k yesterday and is now on 31k, outselling Kiss Me Once’s total first week sales in 2 days.
  15. Yeah, sales will hopefully be buoyed over the weekend from Graham Norton, but I can see them falling off a cliff next week. She’s currently no 3, 6, 43 and 45 on Amazon, and no 1 on iTunes for whatever that counts for.
  16. Nearly 20k of that was from preorders. I also don’t think Saturday album midweeks include streaming equivalents so TGS will have done a little more than that.
  17. Dancing - 23 Stop Me From Falling - 24 Golden is also no.1 in the midweeks with 24k sold so far (no midweek thread yet). Greatest Showman is no 2 with 4K.
  18. A new Beyonce/JayZ album apparently.
  19. The original poster said top 20/30. Also had it been released in February (a month and a half before the album) the release would have dovetailed with the initial fanbase purchases (which took it to no 2 on iTunes), the Saturday Night Takeaway performance (which sent it back into the iTunes top 10 a month after release), the video being released and Radio 2 A List. So yes, a top 30 placing would certainly not have been out the question.
  20. I think the point was that if the single hadn't leaked a month before release it would have gotten higher than its no 47 peak (maybe not top 20 but possibly top 30). I'm not sure what your point is. The original poster said that he was surprised by the longevity of the song in the iTunes chart. It's been over 2.5 months which is a long time by any measure for a "heritage" act. Also, radio haven't played Dancing for weeks.

Will the Weeknd be counted as an album? It’s branded an EP. Not sure what the rules are around this.
  22. I mean Dancing will probably outsell some of her top 10s like Chocolate and Come into My World. I guess with the charts as they are it’s more about longevity/name than final chart position.
  23. http://www.musicweek.com/labels/read/kylie...-for-bmg/071785 Sounds like they have high hopes for the first week Golden sales. “All eyes are on us,” he added. “We believe this is going to be the biggest ship of a BMG record in the UK that we’ve ever had. We anticipate that it will be the biggest-selling week one record we’ve ever had on BMG UK.” Not sure who else is on BMG UK (Rick Astley?)
  24. 28 - Stop Me From Falling

Yeah, I really don't see the issue with including them if it costs extra with the album and you have the option not to buy it.
