  1. There seems to be a lot more hype and excitement around this album then the last 2.
  2. Radio really need to get on Same Love now. Again, it's radio being 2 steps behind what the public are listening to rather than leading the way.
  3. I'm assuming the new Miley Cyrus song isn't being made available on UK iTunes yet.
  4. I'm surprised people on here still declare OA/OS releases flops after only a few days. The whole point is that they are meant to stick around for longer as people start hearing them. No wonder the UK rarely releases OA/OS when people who actually follow charts and should know how it works declare the releases flops so quickly Applause may turn out to be a flop but my point is it is far too early to tell.
  5. I'm surprised that Justin is climbing. I guess the video is having some impact, though doubt the song will be troubling the top 10. Which is a bit of a worry given the album is out soon.
  6. Lana is so close to no 2 now (not combined obviously!)

They may playlist Take Back the Night?
  8. I meant top 40 or even top 100.
  9. The Manic Street Preachers new single Rewind the Film has been released OA/OS. Pity it won't chart.
  10. Tom Odell down to no 10. It didn't get a huge top 10 boost. Hopefully it will have some longevity.
  11. I wonder if Tom Odell could go top 10. It seems to be rising slowly but consistently. Great that they're putting someting decent out after the dreadful Hold Me.

With Timebomb, Alan Hayden-Jones put a question out on Twitter as to whether people wanted to hear it on R1. The overwhelming response was positive (which is unsurprising given the number of Kylie fans on Twitter). Somebody then pointed out that it was probably going to be gay men wanting it playlisted (implying that that would be a negative thing), which AHJ agreed with. And yes I am aware that he is gay.

The problem is that if Kylie comes back with a song like Skirt, Radio 2 aren't going to touch it either.

Did they playlist Catch My Breath? Also, what was the last Britney song to be playlisted - was it 3?
  15. I guess it will be a good test to determine Radio 1's influence for some of theolder artists.
  16. Olly's no 10 now, not sure when that happened
  17. There seems to be a distinct lack of UK smashes crossing over at the moment. Olly, Little Mix, Emeli Sande (still to be confirmed I guess) - all huge in the UK but middling in the US. God knows how the Wanted smashed with Glad You Came.
  18. Does anybody know what Daft Punk are estimated to sell in the US in their first week?
  19. That font colour is very difficult to read...
  20. Just as long as we don't get another Our Version of Events re-release with the Rudimental tracks on which will then ensure the album stays top 10 for the rest of eternity.
  21. I hope Olly doesn't get stuck at no 11+. He raced up to the top 15 but seems stuck there now. The same as Little Mix a few weeks ago.
  22. I've never understood why people pre-order singles and EPs from iTunes. It's not like iTunes are going to run out of stock on release.

Maybe they should stop playing Rihanna and Katy Perry then too... Moving on, hopefully they will playlist Young and Beautiful.
  24. True - but in the US (where film releases also don't usually have much effect), the song has risen to no. 7 (no.4 combined) on iTunes post release.
  25. Hopefully Lana's Young and Beautiful will go top 10 once the film is released.
