The End Of HMV
I'm surprised that all the Heathrow stores are closing giving that they have a captive market and are quite small Are there any left in central London (zone 1), other than Oxford Street? Leadenhall, Trocadero, Moorgate are all closing down. Kings Road closed ages ago. Actually, I guess the ones in the 2 Westfields are still open and the one in Canary Wharf

Are they live-tweeting again?

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 17th February 2013
Is the Explosions advert still being shown? I'm trying to work out if the sudden iTunes rise is still due to the advert, the reduced price or the fact that she is getting radio play (or a combination of all 3)

Mariah is doing surprisingly well - I think it has already outpeaked Triumphant.

Kylie's Whistle at 134 now. I thought this would be on the decline by now but it is still moving up.

Official Chart rules change
Well yes, but theoretically the US are doing the right thing and eliminating the inconsistency. I'm not really sure of a better way to do it. All that is happening is that you are buying the album and getting a track early. That is quite different from buying a single.
-
Official Chart rules change
They need to do something though - otherwise pre-ordering the album effectively counts as one album and one single towards the charts when in truth only the album has been bought.

Official Chart rules change
Does that mean that when the album is actually bought the sales from the pre-sale will be subtracted from total single sales?

Haha, I'm sure R1 weren't expecting articles like this when they decided to live tweet the playlist process! http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a45...m-playlist.html

US iTunes Top 100 [JAN-JUL 2013]
So is Pour it Up the "official" next Rihanna single in the US? Or is Stay going to be released simultaneously?

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 10th February 2013
Gabrielle Aplin has disappeared from my iPhone and iPad feed (the single, the EP is still there)

The End Of HMV
Does this mean that HMV aren't being bought then? I can't see why they would close profitable stores, as surely those would be the ones that would get bought.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 3rd February 2013
Fall Out Boy down to 3 now. I imagine this will disappear down the top 10 until radio play kicks in.

Tyler James up to 44 now. Amazing what a little radio play can do.

The End Of HMV
I see they're closing down the Trocadero one instead of the Oxford Street one (for now)! Are companies still interested in buying HMV I wonder?

Spotify is now the No. 2 revenue source for the major labels
Quick question on Spotify download - how long can you keep it for? Do the songs expire after a certain amount of time? Also, can you download on your phone?

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 3rd February 2013
I'm surprised that Rihanna's more "urban" songs are the ones that are taking off in the US (Pour It Up, Loveee Song). It's normally her poppier songs that smash.

Tyler is rising at a steady pace now. Really hope that it does well and sells the album, even though the album is patchy (at best)

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 3rd February 2013
I think it wil be extremely frontloaded. I wouldn't be surprised if it's out of the iTunes top 10 by Thursday.

Forgotten chart toppers!
Loads of songs by the likes of 911, Five S Club 7 etc in the early 00s, where a song would enter at no.1 and then plummet.

The End Of HMV
I used to love the HMV in Oxford Street - they had a section with all the new imports with bonus tracks etc. Although that seemed to disappear a few years ago
