The End Of HMV
I used to love the HMV in Oxford Street - they had a section with all the new imports with bonus tracks etc. Although that seemed to disappear a few years ago

I'd download the Marina EP is it included the video ( the Emeli Sande EP does), but alas...

It's being used on E4 to advertise Revenge

iTunes Album Chart: 2013
The Tom Odell album is up for pre-order (with the whole get a song for free) - don't see it in the top 100 yet though.

Emeli and Ellie back to 99p - hope this doesn't have too much impact

The Scientist is probably the best Glee song ever

Clown no. 4 now Emeli said this was the last single from the album, though surely the record company will want to milk it some more with both album and single still riding high? Edit: looks like it's back at 5 now. Strange.

Australia also seems to be far ahead of the UK for non-UK music. Thrift Shop has already been to no 1 and now the follow up is no. 1. The follow up Bruno Mars single is in the top 5, CMon by Kesha is top 20, Neon Trees Top 20. All songs which will (probably) only hit the top 20 in the UK in a couple of months. Whatever radio model they are using to promote these songs must be far more developed then the UK model.

The End Of HMV
I was interested to see that some of the top 10 cds in Tescos were £11 when I looked last week. The days of low cost supermarket music seem to be coming to an end

What's the difference between a "single" and an EP then?

She does have an EP - it just seems nobody is buying it!

James Arthur is holding up very well. I was also surprised to see that Impossible (the James Arthur version) is top 20 on iTunes Australia. Have any other UK winners singles ever charted elsewhere?

Suit and Tie also has swearing in it and it's not marked as explicit

I didn't make the original comment, which I agree didn't make much sense.

The End Of HMV
I really don't see how they can keep all stores open. HMV went bust for a reason - they weren't making any money. That's not going to change now. I hope this is more than a short term fix.

No that is xenophobia. look, if people are going to start throwing around potentially libellous labels, they may as well try and get them right

The End Of HMV
Is HMV still getting deliveries of new stock? If not, I imagine the stock of the Christmas releases must be getting quite low. I guess the catalogue stuff will be harder to sell.

Did Heart Skips a Beat do anything on radio? I wonder if Olly's US album will be a mishmash of his first 3 UK albums

Anybody know why Love is Easy by McFly is sticking around? It's been around for 2 months and is still mid 60s. McFly songs tend to drop like a stone after initial release (other than Shine a Light)

Maybe the central London stores will remain open? I imagine the Oxford street store attracts considerable tourist trade.

An interesting article in the Guardian from someone who worked in HMV for 25 years http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/20...P=ILCNETTXT3487

The End Of HMV
Are the days of cheap new releases from supermarkets over? My local Tesco has the top 10 at £10, which is generally more expensive than HMV

That article is quite funny - 4000 odd jobs at risk, but most people are more concerned about their £10 gift voucher being honoured.
