  1. Rita Ora and No Doubt on X Factor next week. Might breathe some life into the No Doubt album
  2. The main problem is that it is very difficult for a boyband to regain popularity once it starts sliding. Potentially Westlife who transitioned from the sreaming teens market to the granny market, but that was clearly a very concious choice at a point in their career - I can't see JLS doing this.
  3. I think she has achieved her aim of appealing to a wider audience, if We Are Never... is anything to go by. I imagine first week sales will be higher then her previous album
  4. Scissor Sisters up to 104 after Strictly Come Dancing. Wonder if this will do anything
  5. It's funny how some radio stations decide what people want to hear, and won't budge even with lots of evidence to the contrary. A good example is Jealousy by Will Young - snubbed by Radio 1 and Capital, it became a huge hit nontheless, and the album went on to do well too.
  6. They could try and blame it on the fact that the song is almost OA/OS which doesn't work in the UK, if it wasn't for the fact that the no 1 song is also OA/OS

I think it is a little soon to be calling people like Cher Lloyd a 2 hit wonder, when she has only had 1 album out, and the next one could potentially be big. Also Joe McElderry has had 4 albums which have all been reasonably successful, so again, he may technically only have had 2 top 40 singles, but I'm not sure if he counts as a 2 hit wonder.
  8. Strange how 1D are beating Rihanna in most places (they're no 2 in the US behind PSY), except here. I guess the clues were there - their debut album sold well, but not amazingly so in the UK
  9. 1direction are no 3
  10. Can we all now agree that OA/OS does work in this country?
  11. People seem to point to OA/OS flops in the UK as to why it doesn't work. People like Nicola Roberts probably would have flopped anyway, even if the release was held back. A hit song is going to be a hit song regardless of when it is released. Price Tag, Born This Way etc were massive and OA/OS.
  12. No they don't.

They had better release it at the same time as the rest of the world. This country really has gone from the forefront of music to months behind with the record companies not adopting OA/OS. Either way it will go to no.1
  14. Flower is up to no. 100 Not sure I understand the pre-order free track issue. I bought the track without pre-ordering the album - will that purchase count toward the chart?
  15. Kylie's Flower is released tomorrow - wonder how it will do. I'm thinking top 20 initially, before falling down the charts a la Timebomb (though that was top 10 for a couple of days)
  16. Lana Del Rey - Blue Velvet now at no 90 Also, the new iphone software means that the iTunes chart on the iPhone goes past no 100 now.
  17. Anybody know when Maroon 5's One More Night is officially out? I'm surprised no radio stations are playing it yet, given how big Payphone was.
  18. I don't understand why she'd release a song not expecting it to do well. She's on her second single, which is pretty pivotal in any career...

Didn't a similar thing happen with the Flood, where it was actually released, and promo done ages after it first started climbing iTunes? You think they would have learnt from that...
  20. Do Pink, Ne-Yo or The Script have any additional versions/EPs/Physical singles that could swing it?
  21. Ellie is going to be no 1 for a while isn't she. Nos 2 - 7 are all decreasing
  22. I thought Ultimate Kylie passed the 1m mark a while back?
  23. Elbow no 4, Kate no 9
  24. Surprised no Spice Girls yet, given that Wonderwall was after them, and that's at 38.
  25. White Light up to 27
