10k would have been enough for a top 5 entry every week this year so far, bar 2. She really chose the worst week of the year. Even next week would’ve been much better when the only new competition would’ve been Adele.

How does not including preorders in an article about album expectations form part of a strategy?

Odd that they didn’t include the preorder number like they were doing for Abba.

You must have missed out reading the reviews for Taylor’s Red last week then which is currently on 94 on Metacritic.

I imagine the preorders also included the extended mixes which don’t count towards the Disco total and the bulk of which is only coming in December.

Because the 2 biggest opening weeks from the past 4 years have been from albums that have had - 14 tracks and 10 tracks. And an album surpassing all of those next week will be…12 tracks. I honestly think you’re getting worked up for no reason.

It’s weird that the 10 minute All Too Well is album only on iTunes given that it’s pretty much the main focus of the rerelease.

No you’re saying that if the album was half the length it wouldn’t have the same number of streams - which is conjecture based on the assumption that people wouldn’t restream it. I’m saying that it’s impossible to know and therefore we can’t conclude this. It really is quite basic logic.

You’re assuming people wouldn’t restream the songs if the album was half the length - so your analysis is a scenario based on assumptions i.e. not a fact.

That’s not actually a fact - if the album was half the length people may have just listened to it again increasing the streams of the individual songs.

Yeah Fearless did 21k and another 5k in vinyl a few months later - so I really don’t see Red doing more than 30k in total.

The Kylie extended mixes Disco vinyl has been moved forward from December to this Friday according to some dispatch emails. I’m curious if it will be treated as a “remix” album, or added onto the Disco rerelease numbers.

It seems like many of the Abba preorders from the official store haven’t been dispatched yet. If they’re only dispatched next week, Abba will easily walk it. It’s also probably why there is the discrepancy between their preorders and Friday sales.

The 2nd Kylie vinyl is an extended edition that is only being released in December so that won’t be released this week. Also any bundles that include the vinyl will only be dispatched in December so that could have an impact on the numbers.

There’s no way that Abba will do less than 21k next week, even without lots of the vinyl being delayed.

Does anybody know why Shed Seven is at no 2 on iTunes?

That’s even lower than his collaboration album which is unexpected.

I mean the run up to Christmas is going to be Ed, Abba and Adele in some order. Coldplay, Taylor, Rod and Westlife stand zero chance.

I imagine Ed will take over next week with Shiver on album release week and Adele will overtake again when her album is released.
