Out-of-the-blue Number Ones
Bowie. Went to be Sunday night thinking that he would never make another record again and with 24 hours he was no. 1 on iTunes with a brand new song.

Poor Erasure's comeback album in freefall from it's initial midweek placing off 11 down to top 30. I assume it is 21?

I wonder if the BBC still see Leona as an ITV/Simon Cowell product and therefore competition.

Sunday Chart Predictions
Adele is every bit as soulful as Beverly Knight. They are both fantastic singers.
-
Will Simon drop Leona?
She's taking far to long to release new music. This will be her undoing.
-
Songs where they murder the title
Scouting For Girls seem to batter the title of the song into every single they make.

Who is releasing next year, and do you predict flop or fly
I know! How dare preople try and predict who will flop or fly on a thread called 'Who Do You Think Will Flop Or Fly'.

The Underperformed
It was only released in the US as a single, where it got to no. 24. Those Alanis singles all came from a mahoosive selling album and were 'radio hits'. Similarly the Eagles' Hotel California only got to no. 8 in the UK but the album of the same name was huge.

Largest no.1 week singles sales
Look at any of the big sellers from 60s/70s - they're not great pieces of work either. Apart from the Beatles domination - Kenn Dodd, Englebert Humperdink, etc. The 70s - Mull of Kintire, John Travolta/Olivia Newton John, Village People ... The 1980s was better - Frankie, Human League, Wham! Culture Club, etc.

Sunday Chart Predictions
That's an incredibly lofty view. I prefer the Matt Cardle version of Many of Horror and I don't think it karaoke at all.

Sunday Chart Predictions
The current X Factor winner has been struggling for over a decade to get noticed. I don't get this snobbery about music - a lot of celebrated artists over the years become overnight successes. There are lots of different routes to success not just one.

Sunday Chart Predictions
I hope the Pet Shop Boys lawyers are watching. The Black Eye Peas totally stole that idea from the Pandemonium tour.

X-Factor Chart Thread (I)
A lot of successful pop acts say they're interested in working with Cher - Will.I.Am, NDubs, etc. So she will have a good short at a huge pop career next year - she could do the best of all this year's acts. Rebecca will release a loungey, chilled album but I can't see her having longievity One Direction will be a whitebread pop version of JLS Matt will be a singer/songwriter like James Blunt Mary will be forgotten

Top 100 Singles/Albums + Comps
He must be absolutely gutted. Three years to bring out an album and about three weeks in the charts.
-
Pointless "Deluxe" Editions
A good idea would be this - if you've bought a standard issue album and they bring out a Deluxe - you could return it (with a receipt of purchase) and be upgraded to the newer edition. Everyone happy.

Sunday Chart Predictions
Nadine says she hadn't a hope of beating Cheryl because of her X Factor connections. Well, the Benedictine Nuns of Notre Dame are also beating Nadine Coyle. Were they on X Factor as well?
