HiyaLuv!

Lots of things that don't chart are big 'hits' with the listeners. There are songs that don't get anywhere near the Top 40 or even the Top 100 and I don't even notice because Radio 1 like them so much!

They played Losing It tonnes as a recurrent so I presumed he had. I love Rain, it's everything I want from a big melodic dance tune. Anyway, that certainly blows my theory that only A-list songs become recurrents out of the water.

I heard Orange County on there this morning/lunchtime! I know not all the plays get 'logged'. It was definitely on though.

Yeah I heard Satisfaction Skank again today when I was out and about in Thorne 'meeting' Greg James for five seconds. Feels like it definitely could be on the playlist already and they forgot to make it official, heard it loads now. I shouted 'DOUBLE! BIKE!' referring to his tandem, he laughed and shouted back 'WA-HEY!'. Think Matt and Mollie's Track of the Week is Sue Me by Audrey Hobert, unless she's only Future Artist of the Month and not both!

Can it be a recurrent if it was never on the playlist in the first place (in this form anyway)? Great to see a 62-year-old and some octogenarians getting so much airtime in any case!

Sam and Danni played Satisfaction Skank about an hour ago, I reckon it's definitely getting on!

Shame Norman Cook pretty much lost all appetite to do much new music, he's an absolute icon from political indie with the Housemartins 40 years ago to stadium-filling house! Think he massively prefers just performing now by the sounds of it.

I firmly predict this will happen in the run-up to the festival. And it's not like he's put anything else out they can play recently!

Just a hobby but I'd like to do more!

I know it's the other side but can I celebrate the fact I interviewed OJ Borg? Feel free to move it to a more suitable place although I do talk about the fact the R1 - R2 gap has kind of closed.

This is great, gives me Go by Delilah 2011 vibes.

Hopefully there are more sensible decisions to follow. They say age doesn't come into it but it blatantly does. Suppose it's a balancing act with supporting new artists admittedly. Gorillaz still feel really big though! Still don't understand why Linkin Park got snubbed in 2024, that was one of the biggest rock songs for years! Momentary Bliss, Ascension, Cracker Island, Tranz, New Gold etc would have been absolutely fine on daytime. Of course an act with so many recent Hottest Records should be on the playlist!

Guessing last time was Doncamatic way back in autumn 2010?

Maybe they've been lurking on our threads and realised how ridiculous it is to ignore a perfectly suitable band who they always play after tea just for being a bit old, even though they're cartoons anyway! Wish it was Damascus though, whistling in songs is rarely good. Looking forward to hearing Berghain on daytime radio!

Voted. They all seem to be non-Radio 1 songs largely by veterans (although I can still see the Lana one getting on), is that the idea?

Got it, cheers!

Thanks, how do I get that last.fm widget if you don't mind me asking? I want one!

I now listen to more Radio 2 than 1 at 43 because it's just like having the past 60+ years of pop classics on shuffle, plus I'm never more than a few tunes away from an 80s anthem or something that's big right now. I still listen to quite a bit of Radio 1 but not as much as I used to as it can get repetitive quickly and a lot of my favourite DJs have left over the past 5-6 years. Also, I tend to just Spotify lots of new stuff instead so never miss out on anything they're championing even if I don't listen for a few weeks.

The ongoing presence of Mumford & Sons on the Radio 1 playlist about 16 years since their commercial peak truly baffles me. It's not like they're setting the charts on fire! Yes, I know Robyn isn't either but at least her stuff doesn't sound old and MOR AF.
