Radio 1 Playlist (25/09/26): Was Nicole Kidman patient zero at the party?
Hope so! The days of Calvin going top 10 with everything he does may be over but even the ones that get to #35 hang around the Top 100 for ages playing the long game!

Radio 1 Playlist (25/09/26): Was Nicole Kidman patient zero at the party?
They actually had a lot of R1 longevity before they shot their own relevance stone-dead with 2009 comeback single Get On Your Boots, which was absolute dogsh!t. In fact, Coldplay must have lasted longer as a daytime R1 act than U2 did by now I think! Nobody's beating Madonna's record (if we ignore that little 17-year gap). Or do we count Elton John? Cold Heart was good but did feel like its success was more about Dua Lipa.

Radio 1 Playlist (25/09/26): Was Nicole Kidman patient zero at the party?
Good to see Crapital have their own things going on, play a few artists that R1 binned off some time ago and aren't just nicking the safest bits of the Radio 1 playlist though. I actually did listen to a full show last year and it was good to hear Type Dangerous by Mariah on there, total banger. Also, If you'd have told me Tame Impala would be on there in 2026 a few years back I'd have thought you were on drugs, but turns out he's a major chart star these days! Oh no, I've fallen into his trap and almost done a whole post about the Poundland Radio 1, who like stone-cold 0/10 Stick Season rewrite Boston so much they've playlisted it twice. Not many exciting adds on the REAL new music station playlist this week but hopefully it's the calm before the storm. EDIT: Just checked out that XO song, it's mint! I feel like I'm in 1988! Hope this makes the main playlist at some point, sounds like Debbie Gibson meets Bomb the Bass x peak Gaga! Exactly what we need in a sea of boring country-pop songs etc.

They do say John Legend is a legend. SPOILER ALERT: It's not his real name.

It's 2026, not 2010 but great trolling, I can't help but take the bait.

Will do, there are tonnes of 2026 albums I haven't got round to yet! Thinking of doing an absolute marathon of them around Christmas time.

Radio 1 Playlist (11/09/26): My dangerous lover is dancing to Vogue
Good point though R1 hasn't just been about playing what's in the charts for about 20 years now, since the end of the physical era, there are tonnes of 'Radio 1 Anthems' that never got anywhere near the Top 40 or even Top 100.

Radio 1 Playlist (11/09/26): My dangerous lover is dancing to Vogue
Not a bad idea, I go through stages of listening to Radio 1 incessantly then having to give daytime a break for a month to give the playlist a chance to freshen up, it can get repetitive very quickly and a larger playlist would help loads! Not that it wasn't repetitive then too. Think they played much fewer recurrents though to accomodate the bigger playlist.

I got a Year 2000-esque turnover of #1s at the moment!

Definitely trolling or just doesn't get how Radio 1 works! They'll be wondering where new Bryan Adams is next.

Radio 1 Playlist (11/09/26): My dangerous lover is dancing to Vogue
What the funk is it with this new 'pretend things aren't on the playlist' thing? I know there are more important things to worry about like the cost of living crisis and AI possibly killing us all next year but it really is strange and annoying. It's like an itch I really need to scratch. I end up having to manually add them to my version of the R1 playlist myself as they are obviously big songs I need to be streaming during my 'fake Radio 1' sessions. Was the same with Dai Dai, I hear that Jonas Blue song that's surprisingly not that sh!t (I HATED his tropical house stuff about ten years ago) is another recent example. Loser has been on BBC Radio 1 62 times in the past month, include it on an online list of heavy rotation songs only us obsessive anoraks care about FFS! Showing my age here, but remember when the flipside of this was Crapital listing songs they didn't actually play to make themselves look more credible and less repetitive?

The BuzzJack Friday Chart Show Thread: 18th September 2026
Just thought to myself that if this was 1999, No Scrubs would have come out in 1972 then got a little cold flush of terror. I'm sure a lot of people of a similar vintage (I was 16 when it was first released) feel the same way! Timeless tune though.

Radio 2 Playlist 2026
I am listening to The Ballad of Terry Fox by Bryan Adams as I was intrigued by the title. Heard much worse Radio 2 veteran songs to be fair! Often by him.

Radio 1 Playlist (11/09/26): My dangerous lover is dancing to Vogue
It all comes back around! Coldplay (or should I say Chris Martin) constantly threaten to split up and I think that generates a whole new wave of anticipation and appreciation every time. I swear he's been saying their next album will be their last since my early twenties!
-
Radio 1 Playlist (11/09/26): My dangerous lover is dancing to Vogue
That most of us forget about the moment they fall off the playlist! Come on Radio 2, make them recurrents, you're the ones that A-listed How 2 Dance by the Kaisers, you loved it for a month! Have some faith in your musical decisions!
-
Radio 1 Playlist (11/09/26): My dangerous lover is dancing to Vogue
And that's why this 43-year-old 'kid' is showing absolutely zero signs of leaving R1 behind! Although I do listen to lots of Radio 2 as well, need my weekly Level 42 fix etc.
-
Radio 1 Playlist (11/09/26): My dangerous lover is dancing to Vogue
I don't understand their reluctance to play the loud ones if they are going for the R1 listeners of 15-20 years ago who loved songs like Hysteria and The Pretender. The only times they've playlisted Muse and Foos for instance since they were booted off R1 have been with pretty quiet mid-tempo stuff. Makes no sense! Not everyone wants to go to Radio X to hear this stuff on the, erm, radio!
-
Radio 1 Playlist (11/09/26): My dangerous lover is dancing to Vogue
Oh well, Noel Thomas Gallagher says it's not happening so that's that I guess! And he'd never. ever go back on a promise like that, as we know ;-)
-
Radio 1 Playlist (11/09/26): My dangerous lover is dancing to Vogue
Also feel like Radio 2 could be playlisting Fontaines D.C., their 'safer' songs at least. Starburster isn't very daytime Radio 2 but Favourite would have been fine, it's like they wait for Radio 1 to hand most guitar bands over when they're finished with them!
-
Radio 1 Playlist (11/09/26): My dangerous lover is dancing to Vogue
You're almost certainly right actually, the anticipation would be off the scale. Could go to #1 on one-off curiosity plays alone.
