Spotify was in its infancy ten years ago, but now it's easy to compile your top bangers of the past ten years without having to really worry about things being unavailable. I had a pool of about 1,000+ tracks to pick from, then I decided to go for one-track-per-lead-artist then get really ruthless. The initial aim was 100 tracks but I couldn't bring myself to delate anything else so had to go for 200. I prefer the first half of the decade to the second but it's been pretty fire really. This hasn't been sequenced yet so listening on shuffle but loving it!

Hi Dan, Yeah, I definitely wouldn't rule it out! Thought it sounded a bit too much like POYH initially but really starting to click now. Will have to remove a 7/10 song from my Alternative Now 104 playlist to make way for it. I've opened it with five big dance bangers which may soon grow to six or even more if another top-drawer big room smash emerges soon. Definitely need a chart clearout soon but my recent new entries have been varying in quality somewhat. The essential instantly rewarding tunes all seem to come at once sometimes. Stuff like Don't Call Me Angel is enjoyable enough but hardly demanding repeat plays. That's why it took so long to build up enough streams!

Really can't understand why this only got to #20, it makes no sense! There are 'urban' songs not fit to lick its boots that have fared much better since 2017. Mainly mumbly and downtempo ones with scant hooks that I don't understand the appeal of. This sounded like a top three to me at least. Really hope we've not passed peak Stormzy. Oh well, it's #1 for the third week running in my personal chart. Would have been #1 were it not for those pesky Foals. I know its essentially Big For Your Boots with a sax but Big For Your Boots with a sax is a very good thing!

Thought The Borders was meant to be the next single but it will surely need a bit of an edit. And doesn't seem to have much of a chorus despite being fantastic.

This seems very early. But the chart moves so slowly now the tracklist probably wouldn't be that different even if they released a few weeks later. Already started work on my Alternative Now 104, listening to the provisional version right now and will replace the weaker tracks with vastly stronger bangers if/when they are unleashed. Hope they continue to venture out of the Top 40 a bit on the official one. Something tells me Dirty Laundry by Danny Brown won't be on theirs.

Can see why Call Me Lover might be regarded as one of the more MOR points but I really like it and it works at that stage of the album. Sounds like it might be a future single if the record company insisted on it being on there? Plus, his previous singles have been much more uptempo so probably time for a bit of a ballad. I reckon it could sound really effective on the radio in the winter!

Don't seem to be getting bored of The Runner at all. Almost certainly set for a fourth week at #1 in my personal chart. Loving the continued relevance of this band. Still making incredibly important and necessary music after 12 years!
