Yeah, there's so much music to get through and I do try to give a lot of 6 Music stuff a chance on streaming. Lols at Dexter and Sinister by Elbow, so pretentious and crap. You're not Talk Talk!

It's already an 8/10 without me hearing the new songs. Can't wait to see how the likes of Play God and That Sound work in an album context. The latter reminds me of being freezing cold as it was big (on the radio) in January! Dead Boys is a classic autumn masterpiece too.

I do find 6 Music give too many free passes to indie veterans phoning it in. If it shared more indie/alternative music with R1, I'd be far more interested. It used to! Iggy Pop and Johnny Marr are prime examples of people trading on former glories and getting away with it, excuse the pun.

In an age of Xanaxy downtempo mumble rap, he is much needed.

6 Music is bizarre, most of the time it's stuff a 1990s NME reader wouldn't switch off but every so often they back something R1 should be all over.

Was hoping the Y+Y connection could help them into the Top 100 (it won't, especially with the Wednesday release) but not really feeling this. I desperately wanted to like it. Inner Sanctum was a far better first single. It's no Pop Kids either. Oh well, it might grow on me, will almost certainly get enough streams to reach my personal chart anyway.

Have R1 ever given him a chance? I nick most of my music from R1 so 25 Bucks must have come from somewhere, even if it was a classic C-C-C-OUT. Flipping love his song with Gorillaz and Kehlani too, best thing on that album. Glorious song, really puts the rather rubbish Now Now into perspective.

Liked this on the album but love it as a single. My Strange Addiction would make a great final single though.

Self Esteem kicks off September by reaching the chart summit with her first ever hit, the suitably autumnal (Girl) Crush (think it actually came out in February but it was a R1 BBC Introducing track of the week recently so that will do me) as The 1975's raucous People enters the top three. Doin' Time gets a second bite of the cherry after gaining generous radio play, with Lana securing two simultaneous top ten appearances following the release of album five, Norman f***ing Rodwell. Also faring well in album release week is Kano, whose Class of Deja soars 24 places to reach its best peak yet. We Got That Cool finally becomes a hit after bubbling under for several weeks as the returning Bombay Bicycle Club enter the top 30 with their first single for five years. There's increasing indie and rock domination not only in the top ten but across the chart, with Foals providing possibly the heaviest chart-topper yet and bagging their first-ever #1 in the process after scoring three top ten hits earlier this year. The 1975 enjoy the second-highest new entry of the week with their fieriest single yet, with Clairo, Self Esteem, Sleater-Kinney and Haim also now looking like genuine contenders for the next #1. Ritual and Never Be Alone (actually vastly superior to Thing For You in my book) finally find their way into the chart after bubbling under for several weeks, and there's an epic drop out of the Top 40 for Rosalía, who will surely return soon enough. Still no sign of Edward Christopher Sheeran, MBE. Meanwhile, Two Door Cinema Club prop up the Top 40 with new single Once, which means half of False Alarm has now had chart representation. Solardo & Eli Brown soar 28 places to cement their place in the top ten, and there's also a sizeable leap for log cabin veteran Bon Iver. However, there are few lengthy chart runs currently.
