Hiya Luv's personal chart #7: w/e 7.3.19 Bilie Eilish maintains the top spot as Foals nudge themselves back up a place, with the more-recent On the Luna hot on its heels. Friend Within continues his ascent, with the CLiQ remix of Karma soaring a huge 27 places up to #6. Elsewhere, Defected's Todd Edwards scores the highest new entry. The Prodigy boomerang back into the Top 20 following the tragic news about Keith Flint, with fellow 90s dance legends The Chemical Brothers hitting the chart for the second time in recent weeks. There are big tumbles for Lizzo and former chart-toppers Calvin Harris and Rag'n'Bone Man, with new entrants Dave, Duke Dumont, Krystal Klear and Koffee all likely to achieve further progress in future weeks. The R1 Dance Anthems shows can be a treasure trove for total bangers that fail to cross over into the daytime or do anything commercially. Obviously there's quite a lot of middling instrumental stuff too though, so I thought I'd start a thread so people can post their best finds. The more song-based the better. That show helped save my late 2016 (think Up and Down by Kattison, Say to Me from WHTKD etc) when the only dance in the charts was tropical/future bass sludge. I'll get the ball rolling with !

Turns out relying on last.fm alone was not a good move as things I'm not that bothered about did far too well. So it's generally my most listened-to but had to manipulate it a bit to get rid of things that don't do that much for me and songs I couldn't hum you at gunpoint. What I am finding is that the new tunes I am getting behind are hardly ground-breaking and involve quite familar sounds, so maybe there is something in this taste freeze thing, even if I'm not sat here lovingly building a Cast b-sides playlist. Let's take a look at some of my biggest tunes at the moment: Sub Focus with Dimension: Familiar drum 'n' bass with a strong vocal melody, synth hook, great but could easily be 2012 or even much earlier Calvin Harris and Rag 'N' Bone Man: Hardly going to scare anyone who has enjoyed the past 25-30 of dance music into running for the hills, probably why you see stuff like this on the Radio 2 Playlist Foals: Solid enough, doesn't sound hugely unlike what they were doing 5-10 years ago Vampire Weekend: A cooler Paul Simon as usual Jax Jones & Years and Years: Could easily be an MJ Cole song from when I was half the age I am now. Also doing well on Radio 2. I can totally see what they are doing there - adding the bits of the R1 playlist they think someone in early middle-age would like, to the chagrin of the older listeners. Oh well, fine with all that, I'm still a lot more up-to-date than many people in their mid-to-late thirties. But it's no wonder I liked Finesse so much last year, that could have easily been from 1990!

Only just discovered this but instantly looks more exciting and diverse than the official one. Have submitted my own first personal chart!
