Wow, that's a big jump. Great tune, total breath of fresh air. Hoping it will mean lots of chart plays for tunes that will fall out by the Friday but let's face it, that doesn't happen that much and it will mainly be stuff that's been around since the stone age.

And when most Buzzjackers reach the point of never wanting to hear them ever again, a huge chunk of the public are just getting into them!

Was expecting Miley to go in much higher, disappointing. We need fresh hits!
  4. Sub Focus & bbyclose's On & On has been on daytime quite a few times too, no idea why that wasn't officially playlisted, did pretty well in the lower reaches of the Top 100 as well if I remember rightly, hung around a while.
  5. What are the others? There have been a few periods where I've not been listening as I've been having my own 'fake Radio 1' sessions on Spotify where I bring the rare half-decent Radio 2/6-only songs into it too. But I always end up going back as I miss the content, interaction and general sense of community. Damn, just realised that I'm finally now older than every single daytime R1 presenter now that Rickie and Melvin have gone. Oh well, it was fun whilst it lasted. Still younger than Benji B, Dan P. Carter and Pete Tong and I don't suspect they are going anywhere anytime soon! I will always need a new music station and R1 is quite obviously the only credible option but I sometimes worry that eventually there will be nobody I can relate to. However, Sam and Danni must still be in their twenties and they're really fun to listen to, they have that classic R1 Mark and Lard/Scott and Chris/Dev and Alice/Matt and Mollie/Greg-esque fusion of silliness and smartness I love. Even Moyles when he wasn't being a Richard Head, got more likeable towards the end I feel. Also, are R1 done with Remi Wolf? Hope not, she had some amazing tunes and the new ones I've been Spotifying are pretty decent too.
  6. Sounds huge, would be great if it went to #1 but who knows with Miley these days? She seems to jump between big eras and low-key ones. You can never write her off though and she's only 33 which is reasonably young in today's pop terms. Plus it's a bit of a banger! I reckon the pre-packaged hits playlist-streaming public will be up for this song, feels like what we all need in an age of endless Reining in Boston and Texas.
  7. So Loser by Tame Impala is the latest song they're pretending isn't on the playlist but is after Dai Dai? Heard it twice yesterday morning, added it to my Spotify version of the playlist, don't know why they do this. If it's on three or four times a day it's on the bloody playlist whether it's officially listed or not!

I like to pay once or twice a year to get rid of all those infuriating 'remastered' tags, Christmas is a great time for that.

Yeah, I remember them playing Groove Is In The Heart etc, that was 30 years old even then! At the time they were very relaxed about how old the tunes were as it was all about just keeping our spirits up. It was a nice treat during an awful time. And GITH never gets old tbf! Before R1 Anthems or Radio 1's Greatest Hits as it was originally called you rarely heard anything over five years old outside of the NIckstape/Ten Minute Takeover if I remember rightly. I do hear quite a lot of 90s on Radio 1 Anthems and R1 Dance even though the former in particular is supposed to be all about the 21st century, The biggest Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Spice Girls and Oasis hits will have a place in the Radio 1 world for quite some time yet though I think, they don't really age.

There's still been a change, until a few years back most recurrents were from the past five years, now older ones appear much more regularly.

Definitely more Anthems popping up in normal shows these days even outside of features, Viva La Vida on now for no particular reason and that's from 18 years ago!
  12. It's pretty much a certainty!

You just know Rein Me In (Sleigh Me In Remix) is coming in just over three months. Yours to own forever on red and green 7" vinyl for just £19.99! All my memories of you ring like Christmas.
  16. Well this aged well. Still not ruling it out!
  17. Feels like total bollox especially in this day and age when they share so much new music with Radio 2. I'll always love new music (and fun content, a lot of the stuff the presenters talk about like going on holiday, being stuck in traffic jams, going to gigs, watching telly etc isn't really age-specific anyway) and R1 will always be the best source for it. It won't be long until S+D are over 30 too. I find them very relatable at 43! They probably need to stop saying 'Uncle Greg' though. If I remember rightly, Greg talks about how much he hates the ageism/target audience thing in his book!
  18. This tune really punished me.
  19. Poor MadgeKylie. They have shown both a lot of previously unforeseen love over recent years considering their (irrelevant) advancing ages and the enormous gaps before they were last playlisted as lead artists so I thought this would get more spins. Am I right in thinking that went 8-OUT? I thought they released more physicals? Anyway, think someone said Bring Your Love had become a R1 recurrent so I am having a bit of that. It was A-listed after all! Anyway my late summer/autumn '26 playlist (basically Alternative Now 126) is filling up fast already and it's only August 22nd, I reckon this could be a strong one, tonnes of great dance stuff in particular on the R1 playlist right now.

  21. People do have a lot of trouble telling the difference between official and promo/buzz singles these days! Wikipedia makes matters worse as anyone can edit it. If it wasn't on the radio lots of times and wasn't promoted heavily, chances are it wasn't a real bloody single! I admit that it can get confusing when Crapital/Jack Saunders play things that were clearly meant to be buzz tracks or when mid-2020s Now That's What I Call Music put Lola Young/Lewis Capaldi album/EP tracks on their compilations to make their 50p budget go further.
  22. MadgeKylie coming on Friday, mark my words. Especially if it's popping up on official hits playlists. It fits Radio 1 perfectly and I think since Kate Bush they are much more open to veteran acts as long as the tune doesn't stand out like a sore fecking thumb on the station. R1 isn't that much of a "youth" station listener-wise in 2026 and it doesn't feel like they even pretend it is anymore, I frequently hear voice notes on there from people who say they're on their way to pick up their grandkids etc so God knows where that 15-29 nonsense fits into this. That age range was put in place at a time when pop culture worked completely differently and when there was a clear generational gap when it came to music. My late mother was 30 in 1988 and called house music (which she hated) "bang bang bang" music, think the only new albums she bought after that were by Westlife. Most of the dance songs I hear on Radio 1 and see on the charts now sound like they could have easily come out in 1995. I'm 43 and just streamed three hours of current club tunes! People who bought Rhythm Is A Dancer when they were 15/16 are 49/50 now! Nowadays it doesn't feel like there is very much at all on the Radio 1 playlist which would scare off your average 50-year-old. I mean, dance doesn't really change does it? Do pop, indie and metal change much really? I'll concede that rap has a new subgenre every now and then but that seems very quiet right now. A lot of their music policy is about current euphoric uptempo anthems and I believe Love Sensation ticks all those boxes! Love Sensation could easily be by a a pair of 25 year olds regardless of their actual ages and that's what it's all about. You can be as old as you want as long as your music sounds youthful (and ironically a lot of the acoustic/country stuff by twentysomethings that's getting on like Boston doesn't sound very youthful or vibrant to me at all but oh well, if that's what the cool kids are into they gotta reflect that). Anyway, rant over. There was a point there somewhere, I promise.
  23. Well, when I have my 'fake Radio 1' Spotify sessions I kind of use their playlist as a foundation (whilst also including the best R2/6 songs, resurgent ancient viral tunes and any other "specialist/nighttime R1" bangers that have found their way onto my radar) and the Slayyyter tune fell off their playlist a few weeks ago so guessing that caused the epic drop, especially with my chart being based on the past 30 days of streams! Generally, songs need about 6 or 7 streams over 30 days to get in my Top 40 and maybe 13-15 to get to #1 but it can fluctuate. Hope you're well!
