  1. MadgeKylie coming on Friday, mark my words. Especially if it's popping up on official hits playlists. It fits Radio 1 perfectly and I think since Kate Bush they are much more open to veteran acts as long as the tune doesn't stand out like a sore fecking thumb on the station. R1 isn't that much of a "youth" station listener-wise in 2026 and it doesn't feel like they even pretend it is anymore, I frequently hear voice notes on there from people who say they're on their way to pick up their grandkids etc so God knows where that 15-29 nonsense fits into this. That age range was put in place at a time when pop culture worked completely differently and when there was a clear generational gap when it came to music. My late mother was 30 in 1988 and called house music (which she hated) "bang bang bang" music, think the only new albums she bought after that were by Westlife. Most of the dance songs I hear on Radio 1 and see on the charts now sound like they could have easily come out in 1995. I'm 43 and just streamed three hours of current club tunes! People who bought Rhythm Is A Dancer when they were 15/16 are 49/50 now! Nowadays it doesn't feel like there is very much at all on the Radio 1 playlist which would scare off your average 50-year-old. I mean, dance doesn't really change does it? Do pop, indie and metal change much really? I'll concede that rap has a new subgenre every now and then but that seems very quiet right now. A lot of their music policy is about current euphoric uptempo anthems and I believe Love Sensation ticks all those boxes! Love Sensation could easily be by a a pair of 25 year olds regardless of their actual ages and that's what it's all about. You can be as old as you want as long as your music sounds youthful (and ironically a lot of the acoustic/country stuff by twentysomethings that's getting on like Boston doesn't sound very youthful or vibrant to me at all but oh well, if that's what the cool kids are into they gotta reflect that). Anyway, rant over. There was a point there somewhere, I promise.
  2. Well, when I have my 'fake Radio 1' Spotify sessions I kind of use their playlist as a foundation (whilst also including the best R2/6 songs, resurgent ancient viral tunes and any other "specialist/nighttime R1" bangers that have found their way onto my radar) and the Slayyyter tune fell off their playlist a few weeks ago so guessing that caused the epic drop, especially with my chart being based on the past 30 days of streams! Generally, songs need about 6 or 7 streams over 30 days to get in my Top 40 and maybe 13-15 to get to #1 but it can fluctuate. Hope you're well!

Kylie & Madge at #8 in 2026? I am having a bit of that. 7-year-old 1990 me is very happy, and 43-year-old 2026 me feels even better! Now hoping it will be added to a load of hits playlists and stay on the chart for a decent while!
  4. Her actual voice sounds like it wouldn't be that bad if she toned things down a bit but her delivery on this song is like a tortured yodeller, dreading hearing this on the radio for weeks if not months on end.

Didn't they famously ignore Spinning Around and Hips Don't Lie at the time too? They're on loads!

Definitely, they've played it 189 times since 2017 according to these stats! So basically completely ignoring the fact they snubbed it back in the day and giving it official R1 Anthem status!
  8. 13 weeks on the Top 75 so far even if it never went Top 40, I'll put that down as a hit. Sometimes it's a marathon, not a sprint these days!

Can't be a recurrent if it was never playlisted in the first place! Not seeing it on the playlist is making my teeth itch but that's just how my spicy brain works. 22 plays in the past week! Anyway I've put it in the A-list section of my Spotify version of the R1 Playlist to reflect its real-world amount of airtime.

AND they're not gonna be a thing in a million years! Cowell is absolutely deluded if he thinks they will be, he thinks it's still 2002/2011!

Why don't they just officially add Dai Dai? It's obviously on very heavy rotation. It's on every time I tune in! Wonder if there's any chance of MadgeKylie getting on next week.

I did not mean to be rude but the repetition was rapidly driving me totally insane, the last thing I would want to come across as is a bully though, I think there is a good reason why he is like that and I think this place wouldn't quite be the same without the afore-mentioned iconic Buzzjack member that keeps us all talking, he is part of the furniture so I guess I will just take a deep breath and ignore anything that gets right on my last nerve in future! Apologies to all concerned, off for a lie-down until I'm about 70 years old (2053 by the way).

Do you not get tired of just saying the same things over and over and over again on multiple platforms? You're driving me f**king mad! And you think a Sam Fender song being at #1 is annoying, imagine listening to you!
  16. Anyway, didn't mean to be too harsh and sorry if I p!ssed anyone off, the constant negativity and repetition is just grating though! You could say I finally snapped and had just about Hadj had my fill of his repetitive bull sheet. Please don't ban me, there's nowhere else to go especially now Popjustice is dead!
  17. Just wondering why my post about a certain forum member who brings nothing but negativity, pessimism and joyless, pointless Now compilation policing to this place every single day got deleted when all it did was summarise the gist of a whole load of posts about them not only from this thread but also countless others over the years. I mean, it was an absolute pile-on when the resident in-house troll was silenced during yesterday's chart show and it doesn't look like any of those posts got binned off! I said absolutely nothing that hasn't already been aired by lots and lots of other participants, many times. Yes, I know he's very good for keeping the conversation going which is great for engagement and the general health of the site but it can get very tiresome. He literally said Sam Fender's chart rein was "worse than lockdown" and I think that stayed on! Imagine how insulting that is to people who lost family to the pandemic. You could say that I've just Hadjinough of all his misery. Feel free to enlighten me!
  18. He just seems to hate EVERYTHING and it's grinding me down. Sick of reading his sh!t!

I Hadj no idea why anyone would want to do this.
  20. H***i is a disgruntled overgrown child. Most of his massively repetitive and tedious posts on here and elsewhere sound like a seven-year-old losing their sh!t over things that seriously don't f**king matter. Every single time I see someone go "Rein Me In wouldn't have done anywhere near this well without Olivia Dean" or "I hate George Michael's estate for always making him the first track on compilations" here or anywhere else it is very obviously him. Chill, man. Get outside, touch some grass! You never see him posting ANYTHING positive. When was the last time he went "OH YES! THAT'S JUST A BANGER AND I LOVE IT!"? NEVER. Feels like they prefer poliicing music to actually f***king listening to it! From what I can tell he's nearly bloody 40. There is more to life than arguing about Now albums and the admittedly boring and stagnant Top 40. GROW UP!!!!
  21. That Sombr one is just a bit of a meh plodder in my opinion I'm afraid, I'm more about the more urgent and uptempo stuff like 12 to 12 and Homewrecker!
  22. Yeah but he contradicts himself constantly so it will be him.
