I also like Radio but it has already been number one, and Angels has been chosen precisely because it is his signature song and his biggest-selling song here. Most of the sales were physical singles at the time so many people can still download a version from iTunes, including the acoustic version they might not have or some live. IMO Feel would have been another good option. I hardly expect it to enter the top 10 though but I like the fans idea. I'm trying to do the same in my country (Switzerland), we'll see where it lands.

Hi everyone, FYI There is a worldwide campaign to get Angels To No1 for Robbie Williams 40th birthday. :birthday: Have you heard about it? Do you think it has chances to be successful given the 6 digit sales this month...? Anyway please everyone share! I think it's a good idea (I'm not the creator of this campaign) and I'd be happy if it worked! Angels For No1 Facebook page Angels For No1 UK Facebook Event Angels For No1 Twitter page
  3. It's not up to date but 09 figures for UK can be found on this forum, here I can add Reality Killed The Video Star: 896,069 (a few months after its release).

I think it's a bad idea. If lyric videos get played on music channels, then who's gonna bother making a real video? Will labels keep on paying for their artists to make a video? However I agree that the Katy Perry lyric video is good because it's creative, unlike most lyric videos consisting of lyrics simply scrolling with a picture in the background.
  5. It has just been released in many countries (on air/on sale), but will only be available in 7 weeks in the UK. Won't everyone have ripped it off youtube by then? Also his album will be released only a week later. I like the song a lot but it becomes annoying very quickly... So I predict top 5 only. Bad marketing. <_<

I tought Pixie would do better.. I find her new single far better than All About Tonight and that was number one..
  7. Thanks for you reply. Indeed, they won't know about them... So I assume it's the same for the UK charts: imports from Ireland, Australia... are not considered.
  8. That's interesting to know, thanks! Does someone know if it works the other way: imported sales, do they count toward the importing country? Or are they simply ignored? I buy many albums from the UK, surely it must count somewhere...
  9. Hugh Laurie is enjoying major success across Europe... He is even number 1 in Austria. Happy to see he's also doing well in his country! and Congrats to those who predicted top 15 for TT... as the NMA were seen by only 2 millions viewers the song couldn't have reach much higher I think... I hope they do better when the video is released and the song gets airplay...

I completely agree. Though number 2 is still too high for Willow I think....

Anyway it is a great performance. It beat Rihanna which had released worlwide.

NO!! It says Progress has sold over 519 000 worlwide, so including UK. Last week the album had only be released in UK and Ireland, si I assume it sold less than 1k in Ireland  . Remember the release date had been brought forward. In the rest of the world it has been released last Friday (Germany Austria Switzerland) or this monday (France etc...) so these sales will count next week. :P

and that's only the standard edition!! the deluxe edition is sometimes lower in the top ten as well! May that last!

In fact Shine wasn't released everywhere. Reach Out was released and received promotion instead in Germany. Anyway the album reached no 2 there. Then Greatest day was a flop. The Garden was released instead of Up all night. I don't know about Said it all. Strange marketing choices...

I did the same based on the Circus, which had sold 133k on 1st day and 432 490 at the end of the week. Progress would sell 764 000. It may be possible. We'll know soon!

Remember that Beautiful World had been re-released with 3 bonus tracks including Rule the world. Don't know how much the original album sold alone but it might be closer to 2.1-2.2 millions. So 3 millions for Progress is too high I think, unless it is also re-release with new tracks in a year or so. I haven't heard the album in full yet so I can't say if it deserves to reach 3m, maybe it does though.

Given the 150k HMV info I predict: today: 180k -> First day of release sales Record (beating Susan Boyle's previous record) :w00t: 1st week: 600k (Though I'd love them to sell 1M  ) total: 2.5M
  18. Feel sorry for Take That not hitting the top with that brillant song, but it means people will buy the album instead so it's good news.

Though my favourites are TT I feel sad for Westlife! They had nothing to worry about for getting back to number 1 until TT changed their release date! :( Now whatever they do, move their album forward or delay it, they have no chance: hard competition this month and lots of XF acts! 8 Nov: James Blunt, Susan Boyle. 15 Nov: TT (+shayne ward :D ) 22 Nov: JLS, TT second week 29 Nov: Duffy, Olly Murs (+Leona Lewis live) Westlife should release in December...
  20. Glad Robbie has overtaken TT ! (+37, great improvement by the way) Angels having being voted 'the greatest song of the past 25 years' four years ago, it totally deserves it.
  21. You are right. I had forgotten that song. Bisbal and K'naan may even be number one next week. It will be an interesting battle for the top spot between this song and Sweat, considering they will both benefit from the "Wetten Dass" boost.
  22. I have the feeling that Mehrzad Marashi will replace himself at the top next week with Sweat, his duet with Mark Medlock. And he could also occupy the first two places of the single charts. I predict: 1 Mehrzad Marashi & Mark Medlock - Sweat 2 Mehrzad Marashi - Don't Believe Did that ever happen in Germany?

Any info about Goals Aloud? Thought their song would be top 40 as it ain't bad and it is for charity...
  24. Hello, Maybe someone here could help me find the artist and title of the song used in the advertisement for "16 & Pregnant" these days. I love it but can't find any information on the web. So I think it might be an indie artist. It's slow and sung by a female. Lyrics are: A shelter when we're looking for a home A call that makes you feel alone We're always getting ready for a show Waiting to see how it goes... (yodeling) See how it goes you can watch this video here: megaupload.com/?d=IIQ643X4 Thanks in advance
  25. I love the song and the fact she tried to explore other musical styles. She would deserve a top 10. But as the song is released on Friday it will have only two days to chart so I say top 40. And I doubt it will climb the following week. Anyway her album will be a hit, like her previous ones.
