  1. “Only 3k” (actually nearer 4k - 3,633) is a significant gap between Padam Padam and Top 5.

She hasn’t really been close to Top 5 yet. There needs to be a considerable boost for it to be a possibility.

    09/06: #12 [20,837] - 74.82% of the #5’s sales [27,849] (7,012 behind)

    16/06: #09 [25,867] - 87.30% of the #5’s sales [29,629] (3,762 behind)

    23/06: #08 [25,549] - 91.49% of the #5’s sales [27,926] (2,377 behind)

    30/06: #10 [22,814] - 86.26% of the #5’s sales [26,447] (3,633 behind)

If the week at #8 had coincided with a vinyl release… maybe she’d have a Top 5 hit in her hands now. But there’s still no indication that there’ll be one and her streaming has weakened… so that’s why it’s crucial that all of those songs coming up for ACR actually do go to ACR and don’t avoid it, if Padam Padam is to have a chance of out-peaking #8.

  2. I disagree "flopped at Eurovision" isn't going to harm her in the slightest. She is never going to sell anything outside of her core fanbase which is basically Steps fans, they aren't going to stop supporting her because she didn't do well at Eurovision. If anything it might expose her to other fans and help her shift a few more copies.

I think it would be brought up a lot though, on the daytime TV she quite often makes appearances on, particularly in the weeks and months that followed, but beyond that too.... the Eurovision tag is for life. I don't think she'd want it to follow her around and be something that is always associated with her. She'd be the sort who'd be mortified by the failure, rather than take it on the chin. It would be harmful to her as a solo personality/celebrity in the sense that her persona is in a very "safe" place - she's well known, but not in a notorious way. She's way better off continuing being comfortable as "Claire from Steps" (which nowadays is respected!) rather than shift it to "Claire from Steps, another Eurovision failure".

Of course this is a completely moot discussion because she's 100% never going to do it!

  3. An update on albums released in September, up to and including Kylie's week of release:

    22nd September 2023

    Anastacia – Our Songs

    Devendra Banhart - Flying Wig

    Kylie Minogue - Tension

    Matteo Bocelli – Matteo

Teenage Fanclub – Nothing Lasts Forever

Kylie's week of release still looking quite bare. Of her competition on 22nd September, their most recent album peaks are:

#4 - Matteo Bocelli (a Christmas album with Andrea Bocelli) [in 2022]

    #11 - Teenage Fanclub [in 2021]

    Not Top 100 - Anastacia [in 2017]

Not Top 100 - Devendra Banhart [in 2019]

The only album released in the weeks beforehand that should still be high up the chart in Kylie's week is Olivia Rodrigo, who'll be on her third week in the chart at that point.

I'd be surprised if she's still a huge threat in week 3 based on those numbers. This second album era only launched yesterday so it's too early to tell how well it'll be received, but I'd be surprised if Olivia is still a threat in week 3 based on the numbers of her debut album in the first 3 weeks:

    03/06 | 50,942 | Olivia Rodrigo - SOUR

    10/06 | 32,844 | Olivia Rodrigo - SOUR

    17/06 | 25,846 | Olivia Rodrigo - SOUR

I shouldn't jinx Kylie, but so far so good in terms of her not going up against another massive artist, like she was with Disco (Little Mix!). That week was so nailbiting although pretty exciting to experience such a chart battle. I don't think I want a repeat of it though. :kink:

  4. Received my copy :o

Probably one of my most impulsive purchases ever, considering it was £103.99 (I used a 20% off code on HMV) and I've not heard the vast majority of the remixes... no idea if I'll even like it  I'll have to find a spare 3 hour 43 minutes(!). Maybe I'll just take it one vinyl at a time.

    Love the packaging

  5. #5 on the physical chart.

    #6!

In the Thursday midweeks Kylie (#5 physical) had 47 sales, Loreen (#7 physical) had 55 sales, so all we can deduce from that is that it sold 55+ copies last week. I'm guessing that is sales achieved away from their official store, it was available on recordstore too  I suppose we'll see next week if it's any higher in the chart!

  6. 13th July confirmed!

I hope this drawn out build up to release actually works out for him  Feels like people are impatient and there's still 2 weeks to go...

    (lol)

Particularly as these videos proved very popular... will the hype die?

  7. Week 1 (#26)

    1. Download: iTunes - from Standard 'Tension' album

    2. Download: Kylie Store - Extended Mix

    Week 3 (#12)

    3. Download: iTunes - from Deluxe 'Tension' album

    4. Physical: Kylie Store - CD Single

    Week 4 (#9)

    5. Physical: Kylie Store - Cassette Single

    6. Download: Kylie Store - Extended Mix Music Video

    7. Download: iTunes - Original from “Padam Padam - Single”

    8. Download: iTunes - Extended Mix from “Padam Padam - Single”

    Week 5 (#8)

    9. Download: Amazon - from 'Tension' album

    Week 6 (#10)

    10. Download: Kylie Store - Jax Jones Remix

    Week 7

    11. Download: Juno - Jax Jones Extended Mix

I'll wait for the midweeks to see whether I feel like downloading Jax Jones Remix and the latest other Padam Padam original download from iTunes.

  8. ^ Although having said that if you type S Club 7 it does show S Club as the first result now, whereas it didn't before.

A weird thing is how slowly the changes have happened. On YouTube most of their music videos are now S Club, apart from You and S Club Party (and their non-music video uploads are still S Club 7). Still no sign of Alive, Love Ain't Gonna Wait for You or Say Goodbye on their official YouTube channel. -_-

  9. The song has been serviced to US Pop radio! :cheer: She hasn't had a song chart there for a long while, would be amazing to see Kylie chart there.

Oooh let's hope this amounts to something :o
