  1. Randomly I wanted to check how old the girls were when they released their solo albums...

    20s

    June 1999: Schizophonic (Geri - 26 years, 10 months)

    Oct 1999: Northern Star (Melanie C - 25 years, 9 months)

    Oct 2000: Hot (Mel B - 25 years, 4 months)

    Apr 2001: A Girl Like Me (Emma - 25 years, 3 months)

May 2001: Scream If You Wanna Go Faster (Geri - 28 years, 9 months)

Oct 2001: Victoria Beckham (Victoria - 27 years, 5 months)

    Mar 2003: Reason (Melanie C - 29 years, 2 months)

Feb 2004: Free Me (Emma - 28 years, 1 month)

2 albums: Geri, Melanie C, Emma

    1 album: Mel B, Victoria

    30s

    Apr 2005: Beautiful Intentions (Melanie C - 31 years, 3 months)

    June 2005: Passion (Geri - 32 years, 10 months)

    June 2005: L.A. State of Mind (Mel B - 30 years, 1 month)

Dec 2006: Life in Mono (Emma - 30 years, 10 months)

    Mar 2007: This Time (Melanie C - 33 years, 2 months)

    Sep 2011: The Sea (Melanie C - 37 years, 8 months)

    Sep 2012: Stages (Melanie C - 38 years, 8 months)

    4 albums: Melanie C

1 album: Geri, Mel B, Emma

    40s

    Oct 2016: Version of Me (Melanie C - 42 years, 9 months)

Apr 2019: My Happy Place (Emma - 43 years, 3 months)

    Oct 2020: Melanie C (Melanie C - 46 years, 9 months)

    2 albums: Melanie C

    1 album: Emma

If Melanie C isn't releasing her next album until after 12th January 2024, then this would become the first album from a Spice Girl in her 50s! I feel like the above highlights how infrequently she releases albums, given that she might end up only having two albums released during her 40s. Obviously that still beats the others! Unless Emma has any plans before 2026...

Victoria released This Groove/Let Your Head Go (and recorded most of the songs for a second album era) when she was 29. It seems if all had gone according to plan then she'd have released her second album when she was 30.

Geri's Man on the Mountain unreleased album leaked in 2016, when she was 44.

  2. Melanie C joins Various Artists for global management representation

International artist management company Various Artists has revealed that Melanie Chisholm, also known as Melanie C, has joined its roster for exclusive global representation.

David Bianchi, co-founder and CEO of Various Artists, said: “Melanie is a legend, which is a word that’s bandied around a lot but mostly without meaning. Not in this case. She is an exceptional artist and has one of the most recognisable names, voices and faces in pop history. We are so delighted to welcome her to Various Artists.”

Melanie C said: “I’m thrilled to be joining forces with the team at Various Artists Management and proud to become part of their roster. Watching the company grow and seeing the enthusiasm they have for all of their artists makes me very excited to see what we can achieve together.”

Various Artists Management, which has offices in London and Los Angeles, was founded by David Bianchi, Nick Ember, John Dawkins and Matt Luxon. Its current roster includes Ashnikko, Tom Grennan, La Roux, Sad Night Dynamite, Yonaka, The Libertines, Supergrass, Cassyette and others.

The company also has an existing music publishing arm, Various Songs, and a specialist songwriter, producer and remixer division. The latter division currently represents Cenzo Townsend, Martin Eden, Joe Rubel, Glen Roberts, Tom Manning, Damon Minchella, Frank Colucci, Danny Connors, Kingdoms, Rndmbeats, Earl Saga, Jon McClure, Ed Cousens and others.

  3. Steps forum has existed for 102 weeks (we're 2 weeks away from the 2nd anniversary of its creation!) and here are some posters chart stats:

Number of weeks spent at each position the forum has charted at -

    #01 - 25 weeks

    #02 - 25 weeks

    #03 - 16 weeks

    #04 - 15 weeks

    #05 - 12 weeks

    #06 - 9 weeks

Highest number of posts in a week - 558 posts in the 16th May 2021 chart week (it was the #1 forum of that week)

Lowest number of posts in a week - 60 posts, in the 4th July 2021 chart week (it was the #6 forum of that week) - kind of insane that it's never gone lower than 60 posts over the course of almost 2 years! I guess perhaps only the Lady Gaga forum could say the same.

2 weeks had post numbers of 500 or more

5 weeks had post numbers of 400 or more

12 weeks had post numbers of 300 of more

27 weeks had post numbers of 200 or more

83 weeks had post numbers of 100 or more

102 weeks had post numbers of 60 or more

If you can think of any other stat you'd be interested to know, let me know and hopefully I'll be able to answer!

So I'm counting "modern era" as any single they've released since they first reformed. For me, Light Up the World does feel quite detached to the rest of these songs, although it does feel more at home in this list than it would in a list of 97-01 singles, I'd say!

  7. 1. Wasted Tears (Initial Talk Remix)

... but in seriousness I'll give it some more thought and come back to this! I feel like I'd probably get even more enjoyment from them doing an anti tour at this point, than them doing another arena show with all the classics. Don't get me wrong, I did love the most recent tour, but it's clear that they're very conscious of appealing to the general audience and not scaring them off. In fairness it's probably wise of them, because their shows can experience lulls in crowd energy even when they perform the newer singles, so album tracks would probably utterly confuse the casuals lol. I'll never know why people will spend a fair amount of money on a ticket and not even spend a little bit of time listening to their newer material.

  8. Oooh that's exciting! Ready for a vinyl :w00t:

Here's the article if anyone doesn't want to click on Daily Mail. The headline amused me lol, "TWO MONTHS" - the drama!! Also this quote from Kimberley: "If you're a fan, it's fun. I'm not sure how much fun it is if you're not really into Girls Aloud."

EXCLUSIVE: '20 years feels like something to celebrate!' Kimberley Walsh confirms Girls Aloud WILL release new music... in TWO MONTHS

Kimberley Walsh has confirmed new Girls Aloud music is on its way.

The singer, 41, shot to fame as one-fifth of the UK's biggest selling girl group of the 21st century, alongside bandmates Cheryl, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and the late Sarah Harding.

But they decided to hang up their microphones for good in 2013 following their 10th anniversary tour, having previously disbanded in 2009.

With just two months until their first album, Sound Of The Underground, turns 20, Kimberley has exclusively told MailOnline the girls will be dropping some unheard tracks to mark the occasion.

Last year, they released a never-before-heard demo version of their debut single on seven-inch vinyl to commemorate its anniversary.

In memory of Sarah, who passed away from breast cancer in September 2021, 100 percent of profits went to The Sarah Harding Breast Cancer Appeal, which is part of The Christie Charitable Fund.

And announcing news which will ensure to delight fans, the Bradford-native said: 'We've got some fun alternative versions of songs lying around and little re-releases just to kind of mark that because, you know, it's a big deal.

'20 years is a long time and the love that we still feel for Sound Of The Underground and some of the songs from the first album are still huge.

'So it still feels like something to celebrate, but in a kind of sort of discreet way, I guess.'

But unfortunately Kimberley said she wouldn't be going back into the studio with her follow Love Machine songstresses anytime soon.

She confessed: 'We're not really doing anything together as a group for obvious reasons.

'I think there's already been one re-release of Sound Of The Underground with different girls singing different lyrics, which is quite fun.

'I mean, if you're a fan, it's fun. I'm not sure how much fun it is if you're not really into Girls Aloud. But yeah, just things like that.'

  9. Ooh what did you think of Swarm? Is it worth watching? I've seen such wildly mixed reviews.

I think it's worth watching for sure! Dominique Fishback (the main actress in it) is so incredible in it. :cheeseblock: It's rather heavy viewing so maybe something to be in the right frame of mind for, although there is some sprinkles of humour in it too!

  10. It was! In the download era there was still a lot of Q4 released singles that could end up placing high up in the EOY chart.

The streaming era has killed this off, it massively favours the songs that are hits at the start of the year, or even from the year before. Ed Sheeran - Bad Habits being the #2 of 2022 felt quite ridiculous to me.

(Sorry for taking us off topic!). There's so many classics in that 1998 Top 40
