Likewise this is starting to grow on me too, but also feel like it would benefit from being a bit shorter!

I've liked a lot of Holly's singles, for me this is one of her strongest songs to date! A pity it didn't make the Top 100 after all.

Somebody pointed out that her logo is very Steps - Gold era, haha. This "launch shows vs signing" confusion caused a bit of a drama on Spice Circle (Facebook group). Quite a lot of fans would have preferred a signing event, which I do understand because it's an opportunity to meet her and get a memento. However other fans were telling them that their priorities "weren't right" to prefer a signing, and that fans should always appreciate a live show over it? Messy. I hope she does announce a separate signing event, maybe it'll be nearer the time of the release that it's announced. It's the best way to shift more copies in this day and age.

Oh, if only it would be released on vinyl! It would be a dream to have all of the solo albums on vinyl (and expensive x), yet we have so very few of them pressed... and both Victoria and Geri feel so unlikely as they both seem to feel negatively about the idea of it. I wonder if anyone at Universal/Virgin has thought about a VB vinyl release? Based on them pressing both Melanie C's 'Reason'* and Emma's 'A Girl Like Me' in recent years, I imagine the label would be open to it as a limited run, but it would all come down to Victoria giving it her approval. * Even though this pressing was lazy and cheap without using the original artwork...

Get on with it, ladies x Judging by Take That's Netflix series though, there's a great possibility that a Spice Girls Netflix series would reveal nothing new and be quite sanitised. Also they might not even need to appear in it (i.e. sit down interviews), Take That's was just voice overs, a mixture of old and new contributions. The main thing about a documentary on Netflix would be getting worldwide attention and an audience of people who may not know the ins and outs, but I could imagine it not ending up being too interesting for the hardcore fans.

This song, and honestly the overall package, isn't doing much of anything for me at all. I don't like or dislike the song, it's inoffensively straight down the middle - and very dated! Debuting with a close retread of One Direction's Up All Night era... this doesn't say much for them having a fresh or exciting identity of their own. What it does seem to suggest, more so, is that Simon thinks what worked back then, can work again. Maybe it will, we'll see. This project comes across to me as Simon wanting to prove that he still has the midas touch, and grasping for relevance for himself. This front cover gave me such a huge ick...

Not Such an Innocent Girl has done really well, all things considered! There's little to sustain it now that the news of the Beckham's family drama is becoming "yesterday's news". The reason some of us thought it might do better in the midweeks than it ultimately did, is because it was ahead of Harry Styles on iTunes until Sunday evening. The assumption was that Harry could have been selling really well, yet Victoria was staying ahead of him. But as it turned out in Monday's midweeks, Harry had only sold 1,283 downloads across Friday, Saturday and Sunday. So Victoria being ahead didn't mean as much anticipated. I think the impact of the public's reaction to the news being split across two separate chart weeks hasn't helped its viability to re-enter the Top 100. That would have been a very unexpected cherry on top of the cake if it had managed it. If anyone is interested, its total sales may have been around 97.5k on 16th January. Rising to ~101,500 the following week. Maybe exceeding 104,000 by the end of this chart week? Smash x

Yesterday it was only the 15th highest streamed of its 18 tracks, only outstreaming Track 6 (I Think He Knows), Track 12 (Soon You'll Get Better) and Track 17 (It's Nice to Have a Friend).

These are Spotify worldwide figures from Stateside's most recent update (one day of streams), and percentage contribution per version: 2,413,572 - with Zara Larsson (92.05%) 179,076 - PinkPantheress solo (6.83%) 17,255 - with Bladee (0.66%) 10,073 - with Kylie Minogue (0.38%) 2,006 - with Groove Armada (0.08%) So we should note that Bladee's version outperforms Kylie's as well. If those percentages are in line with how the song achieved its sales figure of 22,467 last week (which it won't be precisely, but it's the main data we have to go on), then it would mean Kylie's version contributed 85 sales to the figure last week.

I think it really was "This Is Spice Girls" that by and large drove Midnight Fantasy to having a relatively high amount of streams. I'm pretty certain that every other solo song included was a single. All of the solo songs suffered once they were finally booted off "This Is Spice Girls" (that happened in June 2023)... for pretty much all of them it was the most followed playlist they were included in. These days, Midnight Fantasy is randomly the only Victoria song included in "Spice Girls: Girl Power", and that is its best playlist (with this playlist having 3,822 saves). By the way, looking into playlists has made me realise that a playlist called "The Songbook" (which was just solo Spice songs) no longer exists? And that was an official Spotify-made playlist. That's weird/a shame. I'm the process of updating the posts. Unfortunately since the BPI updated their website, the old links to certifications don't work... but neither do the new links lol, they automatically redirect to the search page... so that's annoying. https://certified-awards.bpi.co.uk/format/3/artist/3238/title/15583 For instance this link for Yours Truly, clicking on it re-directs to the search page rather than showing Yours Truly info. Actually copy/pasting the link into the search bar and accessing it that way, that works. I feel like it's a lot of work to replace all these links when they don't go directly to that page though clicking them though, so I might just take all of the old links out and not replace them.

It's been so long since I heard them that I'm honestly not sure anymore, but I think it may have been more to do with structure than than sonically, like shortening some songs. I could be wrong though!

I believe the update chart gives weeks spent in the Top 200 for some reason?

Well, it's clear that it won't re-enter the chart on Friday, but it's still cool that it's appeared at all considering it's mostly based on downloads. It might have done over 2,000 sales so far this week. If Brooklyn had timed his statement on a different day that was more favourable for an entire chart week (lol) then maybe NSAIG would have made the Top 100.
