I saw Janet live on Friday! :cheeseblock: It had been a very, very long time coming! I had tickets for her 2016 tour but she cancelled Europe because of her pregnancy. 8 and a half years later and the opportunity finally came back around. Definitely an artist I'm pleased to strike off the bucket list. Janet's stage presence is so captivating that it leaves you feeling in awe that she's actually real and right in front of you! (I was lucky enough to be second row). She was full of energy and seemed very engaged to be performing. At least, to me it didn't come across like she was on autopilot or going through the motions. I was kind of expecting a fully mimed show, but no, I'm quite certain her microphone was on for numerous parts of the show - and she sounded great! The set list was very relentless - kind of coming across like a megamix, with her going through numerous hits at a breakneck speed... as well as some lesser known singles and even some album tracks. I feel like she did lose the audience a bit with the album track slowie Take Care, and sadly Again, which she attempted to have a 'you sing the words' moment with the audience, an audience who seemingly by and large did not recall Again. :kink: Honestly there's too many highlights to mention. Although it was incredible to see her performing some of her greatest and biggest songs, I have to say some of my personal favourites are "flops" like Feedback, All Nite (Don't Stop) and So Excited, so it was thrilling to me to see her perform these in an arena! I'd say the audience reacted the best to Scream, interestingly. Anyway, so pleased to have had the opportunity to see her, and to have shared the experience with Haus (we weren't in the same row as each other unfortunately but only two apart so still felt like a shared experience!). In less good news, unfortunately she has cancelled the Glasgow date. :(
  3. That's for a full capacity layout though. Like aeroco says, the staging of the Kylie tour (catwalk / B Stage) is reducing the number of seats available on the floor! ~ The logistics of the UK leg of the tour... up to the London dates, she's pretty much working her way down the UK (Glasgow - Newcastle - Manchester - Liverpool - Sheffield - London). After London she's going up to the midlands (Nottingham/Birmingham), then returning to London, then back up to Birmingham again, followed by Glasgow again!
  4. The tactics for Dancing, Say Something and Lights Camera Action are so different from each other that it's kind of difficult to compare them like for like imo. Say Something entered at #82 (and with a Thursday release date it had "lost" some sales to the previous chart week). It eventually peaked at #56, 15 weeks later, thanks to it being album release week and the release of a 7" vinyl single. Dancing felt like a comeback single, so I would argue that this gave the song more attention than Lights Camera Action (and Dancing at least managed to enter the Spotify chart for a day, if I recall correctly). Download sales were stronger 6 years ago so it was relatively easier for it to keep afloat (it entered at #47). Whereas Lights Camera Action's downloads will be less, and has been released in a climate of streaming being super dominant - so unlike Dancing, it really needs a stronger streaming performance to hold up well in the chart... but Spotify haven't been all that supportive. Dancing's eventual #38 peak was achieved in album release week and the release of a 7" single (just like Say Something), plus a 99p official store EP that fans really rallied behind to try and make Dancing stay Top 40. So really, if Lights Camera Action is to debut lower than the peaks of Dancing and Say Something... it's not necessarily the end of the story, particularly if physicals are forthcoming. Also at this point I honestly think any Kylie single in 2024 managing to make the Top 100 is something to be pretty satisfied with. No disappointment from me! I'm not really getting Americanised from Lights Camera Action, it seems very European flavoured dance/techno to me.

  6. Katy Perry lands her sixth top 10-charting effort on the Billboard 200 as her new studio album 143 debuts at No. 6. The set earned 48,000 equivalent album units in the tracking week ending Sept. 26. Of that sum, album sales comprise 37,500 (her best sales week since 2017), SEA units comprise 10,000 (equaling 13.11 million streams of the album’s songs) and TEA units comprise 500. The album’s first-week sales were bolstered by its availability across eight vinyl variants (including a signed edition), four CD variants (including a signed edition), a cassette tape and multiple digital download variants (including two exclusive to her webstore, each with bonus tracks). The album was preceded by a trio of songs, including its first single, “Woman’s World,’ which reached the top 30 on the Pop Airplay, Adult Pop Airplay and Adult Contemporary radio charts. https://www.billboard.com/music/chart-beat/...art-1235788076/ 143 was 5,000 sales behind #5, and 1,000 sales ahead of #7.
  7. Happy Now was always a highlight for me from Progress, so it’s great to see it so high up your rankings! I wish it had been a “proper single” as opposed to only being a Comic Relief thing. The Garden is epic! It amazes me to this day that it was passed on as a UK single choice. Patience is really a lesson in how you make a triumphant comeback. What a song! Mark slaying with this Top 2. :cheeseblock: I think I know which one will come out on top…
  8. I noticed that the EP costs the same as downloading the tracks individually (£4.95) so fans really should focus on downloading the tracks individually, rather than clicking purchase on the EP as a whole! 5 sales vs. 1 sale, same price.
  9. Keep the votes coming! 5 votes in 9 days :drama:
  10. $ucce$$ :cheeseblock: Also... :cheer:
  11. Happy for those who got tickets so far, and I hope those who weren't lucky will have better fortunes in the next couple of days! I got tickets for Birmingham! The seats are pretty close to the B Stage, so that should be a fab experience when Kylie's performing on that stage! Even though the seats are towards the back of the seated floor, I hope it's still a good spot for taking in the overall spectacle of the show. Roll on May 2025! :cheer:
  12. Is he really though x Big dog Savage, I'm the man of your dreams (21) I heard you gotta jump just to put on your jeans I'm like Amazon 'cause I got what you need (21) She gave me her heart, so I gave her my keys (21) i- That entire song is wretched! :arrr: ~~~ All the Love and Wonder are the only two non-singles that made me perk up a little bit while giving this album its first listen. Even then I'd only go as far as to describe them as "good", but it's far from love at first listen. Nothing special. Gorgeous, Crush, Truth and Nirvana are all ok at a push, but they're not sticking in my mind after a couple of plays. Well, to be fair "gooooorgeooooous" (like, literally that one bit of the song) is memorable. As well as a part of 'Crush' simply for sounding like Kelly Clarkson - Catch My Breath, oop. Gimme Gimme and Artificial are really quite bad. After the first play of the album, I actually understood why they went with the three singles that they did lol. Like, I can hear the "logic" behind Woman's World first out of what they had to work with. Lifetimes has a bit of energy and sentiment to it compared to some of the other more AI-esque sounding offerings. Then there's I'm His, He's Mine - which for me is by a distance the best song here due to being the catchiest... with the sample and Doechii doing some heavy lifting; Katy's relatively inconsequential on her own song. Honestly I even had quite a bit of time for Witness, and felt sad for her at the time that she was getting dunked on when I didn't feel like she was deserving of that. Clearly Witness was a side step away from the sounds we were used to from her, but at least to me she sounded fully present in her music and it was admirable that she was trying out new things artistically - even if it wasn't a triumph overall. But on 143... she comes across as being checked out and the overall result is a bland and forgettable offering.

  14. Guilty as Sin coming across as the underdog here, when it’s generally seen as a major stand out gem of the album…! Like, of course it should still be in the running at this point! Ideally it would be lasting a few more rounds beyond this too. How it was ever in danger of coming 15th or whatever was the most crazy aspect of this survivor, not it still being here! 🤪 Now that’s off my chest… Voting for: But Daddy I Love Him

  17. I’ve had it in mind that they might not come back as a “releasing music and touring” group until 2027, for a 30th anniversary moment. So I’ve mentally prepared myself for a few more inactive years. Honestly at the moment I’m not yearning for their return. The 2020-22 run was very full of releases and I still feel quite satiated by that? It is kind of crazy to me that it’s already been 3 years since their last studio album, and 4 years since What the Future Holds… I feel like that’s really flown by!! If they come back any earlier than 2027 though, I’ll find it to be a pleasant surprise! I just think they’re going to be very focused on the musical and any plans they have with it in 2025 if the Birmingham run proves to be successful enough.
  18. I've gone back to my default setting of "expect her not to chart, be pleasantly surprised if she manages to" so for now I'll just assume that Lights Camera Action won't chart lol.
  19. Running is unreleased, but has been the most fan-demanded leaked song! The songs released on the digital version but not available since (bar very briefly on streaming) are Drum and Heavenly Body. There's been some other digital releases from BMG where the tracks ended up being available afterwards, so I'm not sure that they have to stick to their word with Drum and Heavenly Body, but as things stand it seems they're going to!

A controversy regarding what Janet had to say about Kamala Harris in an interview with The Guardian... https://www.theguardian.com/music/2024/sep/...d-kamala-harris Somebody called Mo Elmasri who claimed to be Janet's manager issued an apology statement to Buzzfeed, saying: Janet Jackson would like to clarify her recent comments. She recognizes that her statements regarding Vice President Kamala Harris’ racial identity were based on misinformation. Janet respects Harris’ dual heritage as both Black and Indian and apologizes for any confusion caused. She values the diversity Harris represents and understands the importance of celebrating that in today’s society. Janet remains committed to promoting unity and understanding. ... but in a bizarre twist, this is not actually Janet's manager. Reps for Janet told Variety that the above "apology" was "made by a person who is not the singer’s manager, as he had claimed, and thus was not authorized to speak on her behalf." Janet's manager is actually Randy Jackson, her brother. So as things stand, there actually is no apology from Janet regarding her misinformed words about Kamala. This is so disappointing and it seems shockingly out of character for Janet. :( I really hope she speaks out about this asap. Janet's brother Tito passed away last week. Although she pulled out of a concert meant to take place in South Africa on 21st September, the European leg of her tour appears to be going ahead, starting in Paris on the 25th. I'm seeing her on the 27th. I had tickets to see her in 2016 but she cancelled those shows... and I've been a fan since the late 90s, so this has been a really, really long time coming. Her above comments are so strange and I can't help but feel a bit weirded out that she'd say such a thing. I still want to be looking forward to this because it's such a bucket list moment to see Janet in concert...
  21. Kylie really said "I'll give you anything but not Running"!
  22. Some of Carly's strongest material is included on those Side B albums! I wouldn't say her Side B projects indicate that the songs were all considered to be "not good enough" - and I don't think her fans see it that way either. (Or the critics for that matter) (I appreciate that this is off topic x)
