  1. I wish the OCC site had the full chart runs in their database for all these different charts, because it is such a task to go through years of weekly charts.

    There are indeed a few positions missing from the Greatest Hits runs, this is what I've got:

    I haven't checked beyond 27th March 2020 for Physicals and Sales - I would be kind of surprised if it had made an appearance in either chart since then though.

    I've checked the download chart up to 22nd January 2021 (a portion of its Top 200 run in this chart can be viewed here).

    ~~~~~~~~~~
    Also, Spiceworld made appearances on 20th March 2020 in these charts:
    Physical Chart
    #38 - Spiceworld
    Sales Chart
    #42 - Spiceworld [New Entry] (Sales chart was introduced on 1st March 2015, so that's why it's a new entry. It's also why Greatest Hits didn't enter until 2018)
    Note that Spiceworld vinyl entered at #7 on 20th March, not 13th March. Same goes for Greatest Hits at #20.
    :cheeseblock: The amount of effort that was put in to make this happen lol.
    Just for my own reference, but I posted Spice Girls chart runs on 25th October 2019: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?s...t&p=6363307
  2. What did y'all expect? The vinyl didn't make it to her UK store.
    It was actually available via her UK store briefly on a couple of occasions, that's why it's sold what it's sold this week.
    Edit: I've just checked and it's available again on the UK store - there is an "Add to Basket" button and a note that more stock is coming soon: https://shopuk.ladygaga.com/*/*/Chromatica-...nyl/6XLN0000000 - but if somebody didn't have the link saved from a few weeks ago (evidently I had it saved) then they wouldn't be able to find this item simply by browsing her store. It doesn't show up on her home page or the music page! :tearsmile:
  3. ^ Now available to watch, I’ll watch later *.*
    Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour Prom concert film debuted in a livestream earlier tonight. It featured songs from her new album Sour performed in the back of a limo, on a prom dancefloor, in a darkroom, and accompanied by a marching band on a football field.
    The last two items are Midnight Memories era pictures, I assume I bought them in 2014. Admittedly very childish purchases but
    what can I say, I was heavily into them! I never bought sticker packs to try and complete it though lol~
    There was an official X Factor magazine that had 14 issues published in 2010, which was the year One Direction were a part of...
    I suppose I could consider this a part of the collection because I still have every copy, but it wasn't specifically focused on them - in fact
    that magazine wasn't even specifically focused on The X Factor, it was more of a general music magazine![/size]
    I've certainly been more casual when it comes to purchasing solo items. Interesting that - bar Liam - I only have one item per member!
    I was tempted to get Niall's Heartbreak Weather on vinyl, but it's always been a little too expensive for what I'm truly willing to pay for it. Maybe one day.
    Funnily enough I've never listened to his debut despite owning the CD, but it was a Christmas present I never got around to hearing...!
    Otherwise I'm not fussed with other releases. Harry's debut era didn't connect with me. I lost interest in Zayn's music so I felt no need to buy his other albums.
    Louis' music veered well away from what I enjoyed about Back to You.
  5. Only 215 vinyl copies sold so far this week :nocheer: Also 198 streaming, 24 CDs, 4 downloads and 1 cassette.
    Really crazy just how low the number of vinyl copies allocated to the UK is. 5 vinyl copies sold yesterday (which is presumably just the 2020 versions, unless some lucky people have stumbled upon RSD copies somewhere). I'm assuming that just 200 black copies came here, which is ridiculously low. So between RSD yellow and standard black, UK seemingly received less than 1000 copies. Surely not enough to meet the demand :drama:
  6. I'm not sure what Geri spent her time doing between Bag It Up and It's Raining Men (other than working on the second album of course, but that surely didn't take a whole year). I feel like 2000 was the year for her to put her toe in the water of touring, even if it had just been smaller venues. Melanie C definitely approached this correctly.
    Sadly Geri's sudden ambition to become a live act was way too late.
    I'm pretty sure her tickets were under £20, which wasn't unusual in those days, tickets were generally far cheaper than they are nowadays. I wish more information about that tour was accessible, but I guess it died with the deletion of DenDen (just like so many other random old bits of solo Spice news!). I seem to remember that some (or all?) fans weren't refunded, there was definitely some controversy on DenDen about it.
  7. I'm very pleasantly surprised that New Year is still hanging around. In the past, on other forums, New Year was always an early target. Nice that it's quite appreciated here. I don't think much of Change already being out though, it's stunning <_<
  8. I suppose her statement could be seen as a reflection of how Christina has matured not just regarding Britney, but in general. She's 40 years old now. The Britney v Christina rivalry, which was such a massive thing in the press, is pretty much two decades ago. I think Christina now expressing compassion about the terrible situation Britney has found herself trapped in, is quite far removed from when they were the two young "big pop girls" in the charts. Honestly I don't believe that any Christina quotes/behaviour from the 2000s had any bearing on what ended up happening to Britney. Sadly Britney faced a huge lack of support from the media and public in 2007; I can't remember if Christina ever talked about it then, but my memories are that most celebrities didn't engage with the subject. Therefore, so many years later, I don't think there's anything wrong with Christina commenting on this matter.
    Justin is more tricky, because of the fact he and Britney were actually in a relationship. After splitting, he certainly took advantage of that by putting the narrative out there that Britney cheated on him (Cry Me a River video), and winning public favour that way. He was also disrespectful about their private sex life. He was hugely successful in 2007/8 and I do recall there were some subtle jibes at Britney at that time. This year he did publicly express remorse for his part to play in the misogyny that Britney experienced, and he's now spoken out about Britney's situation. I understand this leaving a bad taste in people's mouths, but personally I'm willing to accept that he has had time to mature (he's now 40) and reflect on his behaviour. He could easily have kept quiet, and maybe people would prefer that... but I think any support is better than silence, whoever it comes from.
  10. The topic of her 2005 tour was raised in the Throwback topic. It's an interesting moment that sadly marked the beginning of her solo downfall.
    Here's everything I can found about it, including two articles that definitely take pleasure in the tour not doing well. Both reference it being postponed, but I can't find anything about it being outright cancelled.
    3am: GERI NO DATES; She postpones poor-selling tour.
    Byline: WITH JESSICA CALLAN, EVA SIMPSON AND CAROLINE HEDLEY
    GERI Halliwell's desperate attempts at reinventing herself to revive her ailing pop career have not gone to plan.
    Confusing the few fans she has left, 32-year-old Geri ditched the camp vamp Christina Aguilera look and decided to rebrand herself as a serious singer-songwriter, like Dido.
    But nothing seems to work.
    Earlier in the week she ditched her manager. And last night she put on hold a 13-date tour of England and Ireland, after failing to sell out a single venue.
    The gigs, planned for May, were to coincide with the release of her third solo album.
    But her bosses at Innocent Records are said to be unhappy with it and have ordered her back in the studio to come up with new material.
    "The plan was that Geri would release a single this month and put the album out in March," says our spy. "But they dropped off the release schedules.
    "She's been working on her second solo comeback for more than three years now. It was scheduled for release last summer, there's no point her touring with just one single out."
    It had all started so promisingly for Geri. She left The Spice Girls in 1998 and a year later released Schizophonic. In 2001 she put out a second album, Scream If You Wanna Go Faster.
    Then it all went quiet.
    She pulled out all the stops to relaunch her solo career last November.
    To promote the camp disco single Ride It, she cantered through Soho on a horse before cavorting on stage at G.A.Y with barely-clad dancers. But it only sold 41,000 copies.
    "She did a fantastic performance at G.A.Y in December dressed in a toga with half-naked dancers in an orgy-style setting," says our source.
    "This has now all stopped. She has decreed that she wants to be taken seriously.
    "But she's Geri Halliwell, not Dido! She should stick to what she does best, which is tongue-in-cheek, kitsch music and videos."
    Geri has now parted company with manager Richard Thomp-son after six months and signed to Paul Conroy, who oversaw the launch of The Spice Girls. She has also turned to songwriters/ producers Korpi & Blackcell who have worked with Dannii Minogue. Ominously, Dannii parted company with Warners last May after her Neon Nights album failed to set the world on fire.
    A spokeswoman for Geri said: "Currently in the midst of finishing her forthcoming album, Geri's new team have advised her to postpone her May UK tour.
    "Innocent are excited about the new album and look forward to being able to promote it properly before Geri embarks on the tour."
    Fading pop singer Geri Halliwell now pins her comeback hopes on the launch of her new album as tour fails to materialise.Former SPICE GIRL Geri Halliwell was forced to postpone her debut solo British tour yesterday (09MAR05) because of poor ticket sales.The RIDE IT singer's record label cite recording commitments as the root cause of the postponement - but internet ticket-seller TICKETMASTER confirms all 11 dates in May (05) fell short of selling out.Before the news broke, a record label spokesperson said, "INNOCENT are excited about the new album and look forward to being able to promote it properly before Geri embarks on the tour."
  11. Huge post alert *.*
    Ride It's second week fall wasn't great, true. At #15, it had 6 new entries above it, as well as the previous week's #1/2/3/5/6/7/8/9.
    If we consider It's Raining Men as the last truly major solo hit (May 2001), here's a chart run comparison of every solo Spice single released from June 2001 to the end of 2004. Ride it actually held up well in the Top 40 overall:
    Sales gradually became weaker as the 2000s progressed. Ride It may have sold less in total than her previous singles Scream and Calling, but that was a sign of how badly the market had declined from 2001 to 2004 - Ride It was still a bigger hit than them, relatively speaking.
    End of Year chart positions give a good indication of how impactful a single was, in relation to the market of their release years. I've also included the number of weeks that the singles were on sale for within their release years (which is to show that some singles obviously had longer than others to build up their sales totals).
    2004: 88th - [Victoria Beckham - This Groove/Let Your Head Go] (53 weeks)
    2003: 96th - [Emma - Maybe] (11 weeks)
    2004: 143rd - [Geri - Ride It] (6 weeks)
    2001: 151st - [Emma - Take My Breath Away] (18 weeks)
    2004: 153rd - [Emma - I'll Be There] (49 weeks)
    2001: 154th - [Geri - Scream If You Wanna Go Faster] (22 weeks)
    2001: 163rd - [Victoria Beckham - Not Such an Innocent Girl] (15 weeks)
    2002: 173rd - [Victoria Beckham - A Mind of Its Own] (46 weeks)
    2003: 191st - [Melanie C - Here It Comes Again] (44 weeks)
    2001: 192nd - [Geri - Calling] (5 weeks)
    2003: Not Top 200 - [Melanie C - On the Horizon] (30 weeks)
    2003: Not Top 200 - [Melanie C - Melt/Yeh Yeh Yeh] (7 weeks)
    2004: Not Top 200 - [Emma - Crickets Sing for Anamaria] (31 weeks)
    Again I don’t understand this argument of sales… it sold the same amount as Free Me did and peaked a position higher… did everyone suddenly think Free Me was going to flop out of the top 40 and there would be no more top 10 singles?
    Agreed! After all, as you say, Free Me was about as successful as Ride It, but I don't think there were fears or predictions that Free Me could be Emma's final Top 10.
    I know this is a highly inconsequential subject (but I'm enjoying the trip down memory lane lol, their solo careers and success levels always fascinates me). I do appreciate your views on the matter Tawdry/Mr.X!
    Geri's plan to tour was extremely misguided though!
    That was announced in December 2004... off the back of just one comeback single, but no album. Prior to that, she'd been absent from the music charts for 3 years - longer than her first two solo eras had lasted (May 1999-November 2001 = 2 and a half years). Her biggest hits were around 5 years old. She had no prior reputation as a live solo artist. Very flimsy grounds for a tour to be considered viable. A disaster waiting to happen. It was cancelled in March 2005, three months before she even released the album. Extremely bad management and overconfidence from Geri and all those involved.
  12. Courtney Love accused Olivia of plagiarising one of Hole's album art concepts:
    Spot the difference! #twinning! 🥸@oliviarodrigo 😉👸👸
    The above picture was originally posted on Olivia's socials to promote her concert film SOUR prom: https://www.instagram.com/p/CQeNxa9Ld0J/
    Olivia replied to Courtney's post to say: "Love u and live through this sooooo much", and Courtney responded with: "Olivia – you’re welcome. My favorite florist is in Notting Hill, London! Dm me for deets! I look forward to reading your note!"
    She went on to say in other comments:
    "I’ve informed her I await her flowers [and] note. I sure hope it’s long. Does Disney teach kids reading and writing ? God knows. Let’s see.
    My cover was my original idea. A thing you maybe have to actually live life to acquire ? I don’t know. Anyway. Disney ? Yes it’s rude.
    It was rude of her, and Geffen not to ask myself or Ellen Von Enwerth" (the photographer who created her 1994 album artwork)
    It’s happened my whole career so i.d.c (I don’t care). But manners is manners.
    Stealing an original idea and not asking permission is rude. There’s no way to be elegant about it. I’m not angry. it happens all the time to me. And he really [sic] I’m very gracious or say nothing.
    But this was bad form. That’s not bullying or bomb throwing. This persons [sic] music has nothing to do with my life. Possibly never will. It was rude and I gave [sic] every right to stick up for my work…"
    Well... firstly, I think this prom queen look is a very standard American trope and I don't think Courtney really has the grounds to outright accuse it as a stolen look - particularly because the Hole cover was directly inspired by the film Carrie. It's really a mountain out of a molehill. Demanding flowers and a note... i-
    Olivia is seemingly unperturbed because she posted another shot from her photoshoot yesterday :kink:
    What do you guys think?
