:cheeseblock: That’s incredible news! :cheer: It was such a nice surprise to see it listed in the certifications update!
I’m very glad that the reunion/the tour helped both No Good Advice and Sexy! No No No…reach Silver a lot sooner than anticipated. Their older sales totals made it seem like it would take them a lot longer. I would be so interested to know what their weekly sales have been in recent weeks.
It makes me wonder if Untouchable could be a lot closer to 200k than I thought!

Hiding Alone is absolutely stunning omg.
This stood out to me too! The production feels like a bit of a different vibe to the rest of the album.
By the way, 'Anything' on the CD (and possibly other physicals), and the Spotify/Deezer albums, is a different version to what was released as a single. The CD/Spotify/Deezer version is 3:05 in length and is quite different to the single version (3:08) - it has less ad-libs, different production, slightly different structure. Curious!
I'm guessing it's an earlier version? Perhaps it's the version they were initially happy with when the physicals were pressed, but then it was changed up afterwards? I'm wondering if it's a mistake that it's made its way onto Spotify and Deezer. Because elsewhere (iTunes/Apple Music/Tidal/Amazon Music/YouTube) the album includes the single version of Anything.

5 posts in a row. :kink: Surely it's confirmed at this point that I'm BuzzJack's biggest Griff fan?
Well, it's been a long time coming to reach the point of Griff having a debut album, and I'm happy that for me it's proved to be worth the wait. Emotional bops are like catnip to me and there's certainly plenty to be found here - she really excels at them! Miss Me Too, Anything, Tears for Fun... all 10 out of 10 moments.
I wonder how the album will do? It's been 3 years since her Mixtape went to #4 (selling 5,436 copies to do so - only 198 copies behind #3!) but that amount of sales hasn't been enough for Top 10 recently. Fingers crossed for another Top 5!

Ordering the CD+Cassette bundle, as a separate order to the Vinyl... and choosing Royal Mail 24 shipping for both... ends up being 50p cheaper (£26.48) than ordering the CD+Cassette+Vinyl bundle with 24 hour shipping (£26.98)... so I did the former!
Seems like 7k+ would be needed for Top 75 and 12k+ for Top 40. Not sure what to expect from this release... but I would be surprised if she misses the Top 100.

I really don’t see how it’s logically possible…
By now Disco is probably nearer to 190,000 than it is to 180k; in 2023 it was selling at a rate that roughly translates to it selling 10k in 12 months (~200 a week). Tension is likely somewhere in the 90-99k region at the moment. So Tension possibly has around half the sales of Disco.
Tension gaining a few mildly streamed collaborations is not likely to alter its weekly sales all that radically. They’d have to have been genuinely huge hits to make a significant impact on Tension’s trickle sales. And for physical sales, a reissue would need to sell as strongly as original Tension to close such a significant sales gap and give it a shot at catching up.
I know this ultimately boils down to having a different opinion but it’s not one I can understand. :kink: I’d get it if Tension was only trailing Disco by 30k or something… but nearer 90k? :drama:

Wasn’t sure where to post this as it doesn’t really seem like what she’s saying is regarding Tension

Hmm, the one thing I’d certainly agree with the majority on, is that the vocal production is noticeably different to Kylie’s recent songs. I don’t think you have to have an in depth knowledge of production techniques, it’s simply what you can hear, and there’s a distinct difference in the way Kylie’s vocal is produced here, compared to her other recent work (and the same goes for Bebe). Then both of them are in stark contrast to how Tove Lo sounds relatively “normal” in her section of the song, which comes off as a curious choice!
I like the song regardless but I understand the comments about the production, completely.

I’m bemused by the amount of strongly negative reactions (everywhere, not only here - to be fair the dislike being expressed here isn’t as extreme as elsewhere)!
When I first heard it during the radio premiere, at worst I imagined it getting some meh reactions… but I didn’t anticipate people regarding it as being one of the worst songs she’s ever created!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen negative feedback to this extent for a Kylie single before, and that’s saying something when Better than Today & I Was Gonna Cancel were single choices! I wonder if she’ll notice the reaction, or if her social media team/management won’t make her aware of it. Because she comes across as being genuinely very excited about this song, so I can imagine if she saw what was being said en masse, she’d be feeling deflated.
Idk, to me it sounds like a generic sounding dance-pop song (in terms of production). I think what makes it stand out is there being a few gimmicky lines, which definitely stick in my mind. Lyrically, thematically and structurally I think it’s an interesting song - even if it’s not flawless (like I said, I don’t think the vocal production/processing was done to a high standard - it’s not that I’m against vocoder, I just don’t think it’s been implemented in the best possible way).

She isnt going to release a new album in low sales August lol with hardly pre-order time?
Low sales months aren’t really a thing in the streaming era… album sales are pretty consistent throughout the year. Particular months don’t have any noticeable effect how much an artist sells in their first week.
Besides, my post wasn’t to suggest “she should have announced a new album now and released it in August”. Just that I’d rather she had moved on to a new era whenever the time was right. Revisiting Tension after it being on ice for like 6 months feels like an odd choice, to me.

Interesting if it really is a collaboration with The Weeknd! My first reaction to reading that is that it’s maybe a sign of under-confidence in Shawn coming back with a completely solo song. But we’ll see if it ends up being true. Intrigued about how it’ll sound, as in will it seem like Shawn singing a song from the last couple of The Weeknd eras, or will it be something entirely different?
-
:nocheer: I suppose a collaboration single was always more likely to be for a reissue than to start off a brand new album era, but nevertheless I’m still a little disappointed. The “buy my album again!” formula is becoming a bit tiresome. I think it would have seemed quite bold and confident of Kylie to begin a new album era just a year after Tension.
The thing is, the Tension era has kind of been dead in the water for 6 months or so now? It felt really over and done with, to the extent that doing a reissue now feels like the era is randomly being revived. It didn’t come across that way with Disco because that era never really felt like it was paused, so Guest List felt like a continuation.
Ok, well… I’ll try and be positive now. Hoping for new artwork that is *completely* different from original Tension, just like Disco Guest List… so please, no “different colour Kylie” formats this time! Hopefully more than 3 new songs on this occasion. Annnnd maybe this reissue will be the excuse to finally announce a tour?

I wonder when Tension is due for Gold? The last known total is 81,781 on 5th January 2024. 26 weeks have passed since then, which means its average weekly sales this year will be less than 700. Hopefully it's going to happen any week now.
I have to admit, when it opened with 53,237 copies, I never would have guessed that it would crawl its way to Gold. Disco did it in just 6 weeks, but we're 41 weeks in to Tension's existence and it's still not Gold. (I remember a confident post stating that Tension would definitely end up outselling Disco... :kink: )
My Oh My ● Kylie x Bebe Rexha x Tove Lo ● 1st single
in Kylie and Dannii Minogue
Received my package today! :cheer: Thanks Betty
As ever the cassette wasn't given any protection in the packaging, so the spines got a bit creased :( but the CD was actually in a card envelope!
