There’s two new Digital albums on her store! One contains two new tracks - Release and Crush. The second is Instrumentals. https://louise.tmstor.es Extended CD has sold out! I’m so impressed with this album. Louise should certainly feel proud of herself for this, over 30 years into her career and making music that’s this strong. It’s contemporary yet it’s still “Louise” sounding. I don’t think there’s a weak moment across the whole record - for me it’s her most consistent album to date. I really hope any fans of pop music will give this album a try, even if Louise isn’t an artist you’ve engaged with before. If you like Kylie then this album should be right up your street. I think most pop girls would be happy to have some of these songs in their own catalogues. ❤️ …and that’s my impassioned Louise post of the day done!

Sadly I don't think any of their studio albums will reach those targets any time soon. To the point we might not see it happen until the 2040s, lol, unless a reunion gives their music a very impactful and long lasting boost. I doubt Spice has even made it to 3.1m yet. I estimate around 3,080,000 for it currently. In a normal period of inactivity from them, Spice sells less than 300 units a week. Spiceworld does less than that, usually under 150 units a week. I think it would be on 1,650,000 at the very most at the moment, but 6xPlatinum is 1.8m. If we're generous Forever might have made it to 280,000 by now but I think it would be more like 278k. It was only managing roughly 20 copies a week on average. I do think it's likely that both Goodbye and M/WDYTYA have exceeded 1m by now but it would be lovely to have official confirmation! If Stop is still selling as well as it was from 2022 to 2023, it would be on 928k now. Viva Forever might have exceeded 900,000 by now too.

Really liking this too! It's very catchy and has a summery, chill vibe. Maybe more accessible sounding than Ariana. It's very heavily James on vocals... the member who is currently injured and unable to perform, oops x

Speaking of Be Without You, I’ve always found it really strange that it only managed #32 in the UK! It had a lengthy chart run despite that, but I just wonder why it wasn’t popular enough at the time to do much better than #32. Also The Breakthrough album only managed #22 and a Gold certification. I wonder if promotion was poor here? Then the next single One became her highest ever peak, #2! Interestingly Be Without You now has higher total sales in the UK than One. Be Without You went Gold in February 2024, while One went Gold in April 2024!

If it wasn’t known in the first place who’d sent a female, male or group (which narrowed things down), I wonder if we’d have still been able to guess more or less who was behind each act!

Interestingly (to me x): even though Bob Dylan is the oldest artist in the males category, taking into account when these 8 songs were recorded, he’s actually the youngest vocalist across these songs - Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright was released when he was 22.

I’m not too surprised that people under a certain age may have overlooked Louise’s music, be it the hits from her heyday or her modern releases! I’m pleased if this contest makes anybody discover her. It’s never too late! I think Louise drawing a blank for some people, is partly because she was completely inactive in music between 2003 and 2019. So she didn’t keep her name out there in that sense. I’d say the majority of her fans are old enough to have been on board pre-2003 (*waves!*) and remained loyal. I’m sure she’ll have gained some new fans in recent years, but I think it’s difficult for an artist in her position to get widespread attention. However, I think “barely that relevant a name back in her prime” is underselling her somewhat! Her first two albums both went Platinum. Apparently she achieved more Top 20 hit singles than any other British female in the 90s. She was nominated for British Female Solo Artist at the Brits in both 1997 and 1998. So I’d say she was quite a big deal for a moment there. It’s just I don’t think a legacy was maintained during her years away from the industry, for her hits from back then to have endurance. It’s not often they’d be played on the radio or included in throwback playlists on streaming.

Hard to believe those songs are fast approaching 20 years old! 2006 era BuzzJack was before I joined but most of these songs were hits in my chart too (Red Dress was #1 for 6 weeks in my chart )
