Terry Venables actually had a decent voice although it wasn't really my sort of thing.

Doctor Who • 2023-
It's not surprising that people feel that way. However, Ruth Madeley showed herself to be a perfectly capable actor. She just happens to need a wheelchair. Should she be denied work because of that? Similarly, trans people exist. That should be reflected in television drama.

Doctor Who • 2023-
I've never been a big fan of Donna Noble and I'm still not. However, I really enjoyed that episode. After criticising the added music in the Dalkes episode earlier this week, I need to say that the revamped version of the theme tune is brilliant. Good to see that the Disney-inspired extra budget also means the return (under a different name) of Dr Who Confidential.

I agree that the music was awful. If they do any more, I hope they don't add unnecessary music.

Except that they marked the actual anniversary with a colourised version of the original Dalek story. A chance to play "Spot the episode endings".

The Tory fibs and fabrishications thread, Mk III
It definitely looks like he's aiming for a May election. The supposed tax cuts will still leave most people worse off than they were when the Tories seized power. They are obviously aimed as a challenge to Labour, daring them to oppose the cuts or pledge to reverse them if they win the next election. I predicted this months ago. If, somehow, the Tories win the next election, these cuts will be reversed, even if it is in a disguised way such as an extension of the freeze in personal allowances.

The UK #2 singles listening sessions
Actor Joss Ackland has died at the age of 95. He appeared in the video for the Pet Shop Boys' version of Always On My Mind. If there are no other claims on the RIP slot next week, can we have this?

The Official Labour Foot-Shoot Thread, Mk II
Yes, it's definitely politics. Starter, understandably, doesn't want to open up a rift with the USA, particularly when he is currently in a position where he has precisely zero influence over what happens in Gaza. At the start of the week, Ed Davey finally spoke out in favour of a ceasefire. I suspect that most Lib Dem members will support that position, but Davey has the luxury of being `able to ay it knowing that, barring a substantial decline in Labour's lead, he won't be in government after the election. It may even persuade some Labour-leaning voters in the so-called blue wall to vote Lib Dem, thereby consigning a few more Tory MPs to oblivion.

The Middle East Today
There were hundreds of thousands of marchers on Saturday. Inevitably, there were a few idiots, including those displaying vile anti-semitic slogans. Those few idiots were not representative of the vast majority.

The Middle East Today
The majority of people arrested yesterday were right wing nutjobs protesting g near the Cenotaph. That is despite the fact that the peace marchers overwhelmed them by a huge margin. Well over 99% of the peace protesters marched peacefully and caused no trouble. The same cannot be said of the counter-protesters near the Cenotaph. The latter group are the ones who showed a total lack of respect on a solemn weekend.

Frank Borman, commandeer of the Apollo 8 mission which was the first manned flight to orbit the moon, has died. Can we have Public Service Broadcasting's The Other Side on the RIP slot?
