I think there might be a slight error somewhere on the album mids there... as 5+7=10+2 :)

Do I assume that Travis's "Song To Self" (lyrics "I'm singing a song to myself") has been rather lyrically prophetic and isn't even in the top 200?!? It's out to buy this week on 7'' from what I know.

FAR more than that. It's the first time that any version of the song, or any song sung by either Jeff Buckley or Leonard Cohen has ever gone top 75! (Well, I know Jeff's version's been hanging around on downloads since earlier this year, but you know what I mean) Does anyone know if this is the first time any track written by Leonard Cohen has ever charted in the UK?

Have to say I knew this week might have some underperformers on albums... but Top 90 for Bob the Builder? Top 140 for Brandy and Wiley? Top 190 for Ysgol Glanaethwy? Surely all must have hoped for considerably better!

That would be the Pipes and Drums and Military Band of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards They had an absolutely huge No. 1 hit in the 70s with a version of Amazing Grace. This new album was apparently recorded in a tent in Basra whilst they were out on military service. I'm stunned that WHSmith aren't stocking either Britney Spears or Same Difference! It's interesting to see just HOW much iTunes impacts the chart!

Thanks for the information. A sadly expected total flop for Pigeon Detectives there then, but Celine Dion... oh my!

Wow - some huge surprises there - who'd have thought AC/DC would get to No. 1 with all that competition? and poor Keane!!! Anyway - a few requests from me if you would Celine Dion - My Love The Last Shadow Puppets - My Mistakes Were Made For You Pigeon Detectives – Say It Like You Mean It James Fox - Higher All were apparently released this week... none are mentioned... I fear the worst!

What on earth happened to that Elvis vs Spankox thing? I thought that was meant to be a huge hit! Aside from that, no major shocks (aside from Sonny J potentially failing to just climb 5 places on physical release into the top 40!). Would be interesting to know just HOW badly Little Man Tate and the Zutons flopped!
  9. You will be very surprised then... as Metallica isn't out to buy until Friday and therefore won't be in tomorrow's midweeks at all!
  10. It's the sound of Cliff Richard stating his Christian position on some of the issues that are causing serious issues between us. Personally, I think what he is saying is totally true. I think the guy is somewhat asexual - he doesn't get pleasure from sexual relationships. I know of a situation where a man and a woman live together and have done for many years whilst never being a couple, just being good friends. I think the same is true of Sir Cliff and Father John.

It's not in either Tuesday or Wednesday mids up there. Dare I ask... What's happened to the new Alanis Morissette single? :o

Cheers for that Martin. You missed my Annie Lennox request (I know it didn't stand out) any news?

OMG at Hard Fi  However... I think there's another rather shocking one that I'm going to ask for. Is there any sign of that very hotly tipped (back around Christmas) charity single from Annie Lennox featuring every woman known to music? Oh aye - and Moby and PJ Harvey's new ones as well if you would. I fear the worst...

Cheers for posting right down the top 200 - particularly given some of the huge flops! Expected a lot more from Maccabees, Hoosiers, Celine Dion and Ringo Starr! Any chance you could fill me in on: Jamie Scott & The Town – Standing In The Rain (was it released physically this week?) Plain White T's - Hate (I Really Don't Like You) (is it still making its way slowly to the top 75?) Scouting For Girls - Elvis Ain't Dead (just HOW high is it now? Higher than last week?)
  15. You think right, 6weeksatnumber7 - though I'm not sure what the price is. However, the crucial price is how much the record companies are selling it to the shops at - it's quite possible that shops can entice people in by selling some albums at less than they paid the record companies for them, in the hope they'll buy some others that are not in sales.
