I like this theory as to the origin of the 'chicken pox' name. It seems most likely to me. * the term reflects a corruption of the Old English word, "giccin", which meant "itching". And as 'pox' means 'curse', the 'itching curse' sounds about right. :P Evening by the by. :cheer:

:o How very dare you! :smoke: :smoke: :smoke: Anyway, I'm getting a bit better. Slowly but surely. At least the itching has stopped but I'm still in a fair bit of pain. And Biggie is correct. Doctor Quack told me that when you get chicken pox as a child, the virus never actually leaves your body. It goes dormant and basically hides in your spine. Then (for unknown reasons) it decides one day to wake up. And it moves into whatever nerve it finds leading out from your spine. And follows that nerve all round from back to front or even up into your face. And that is shingles. And boy is it sore! :cry:
