  1. Oh gosh... well at least they were both Top 10 hits! Stereophonics take it
  2. Has to be 'Lola's Theme' aka 'Messy'
  3. 'Tattoo' now, although it did well to get this high in the EOY of 2008 with a #24 peak
  4. Going to have to switch to our icon Jamelia now
  5. Confirmed - as it happened, I had something in my potentials list that's perfect for this theme!
  6. Voted for my top 3 of Gaga, Remember Monday and Ariana. I notice some people early in the thread voted for 5 songs, so I edited my vote to add Celeste and 'IT girl' to complete my top 5 and by way of consolation as I don't think they'll be getting through anyway.
  7. Quite a convincing win in the end - congrats Bré! As I mentioned earlier your entry was just outside my votes - with my votes being literally every song from 2nd-11th! It does indeed look like I've snuck into the top 20, so I'll take it - not sure whether it's 19th or 20th in 'canon' as ties in these contests are usually separated by number of votes before number of 12s, 10s, etc. regardless not my finest performance in one of these contests. but I'm glad some of you enjoyed it. Great theme, thank you Severin for hosting!
  8. Thanks fiesta - oh, have I snatched a top 20 place right at the end?
  9. Thanks Bjork - wonder who the other entrants are (I thought there was another guest voter, but was probably mistaken with Bop Idol)
  10. Thanks Bré for the points - your song was just outside my votes, it's close at the top so near the end!
  11. Thanks Jade and Cow for a point each. In general I guess this contest was mostly the wrong audience for my entry - perhaps one or two more big fans later on, we'll see
  12. 'Creep' was my 47 pointer and still a (so very?) special moment for a band who would go on to redefine guitar music while at their peak powers. However 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' was my 49 pointer, a seismic moment for a generation, and still such a blast all these years on (sidenote: both songs are currently in the Spotify top 200), so I'm delighted to see it take the win. Thank you Rollo for hosting this over the last few months!
  13. Thank you Severin for the silver score, and Chez and Scene for the points too. Like all the songs I've entered in these retro contests, I've known and enjoyed Dinosaur Jr's cover for years, and while I'm not sure I prefer it to The Cure's wonderful original, it's a cool forerunner to grunge and the guitar work is genius.
  14. I thought the Kylie cover might be yours Severin, great choice
  15. Dua Lipa - Don't Start Now Dua Lipa - Levitating (feat. DaBaby) Ed Sheeran - Bad Habits RIP for Johnny Tillotson... 'It Keeps Right On A Hurtin' perhaps
  16. PinkPantheress this week
  17. Blanck Mass finally made it! I think half those points were mine that week.
  18. blink-182 - I had no idea they were heading for such a high debut at the time!

  23. I think the band you're referring to were actually named after a leisure centre in Swindon *.* (a venue played by Inspiral Carpets while Noel was a roadie for them)
  24. I hoped to get through the top 10 without appearing in any song's bottom 3, well oops - 'Jolene' is OK, just not one that's been on my radar much. 'Everybody Hurts' ❤️ simply one of my favourite songs ever. I haven't been through anything as traumatic as Jaz13music related on the previous page. The song has however been a source of comfort to me through many difficult times and has good memories as well as bad. I first heard the parent album Automatic For The People in early 1997 and it spoke to me like nothing else had - it quickly became my all-time favourite album and R.E.M. my favourite band, things I doubt will ever change now.
