  1. Wow that's a bumper update, thanks Liam!

A few of the highlights for me... one of my all time favourites getting certified: Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Into My Arms  and also LP - Lost On You, with Holiday / Boulevard Of Broken Dreams (not sure how that combines with the physical sales of both) and Paranoid Android going Gold, and Time To Pretend and Starlight going Platinum.

I see Bars & Melody - Hopeful went Silver the same week My G was released, coincidence I think not haha. J Cole - No Role Modelz joins the small club of non-Top 100 songs to go multi-Platinum.

  2. You might think so. But the latest release date of any of the 4 was 30th August 1997.

I assume that the biggest #8 song of the 90s is still to come and I think that was early 97

Think I know the 4 left from 1997 now. I already had that #8 in mind, but there was another #8 in mid-1997 which hasn't come up yet, then a song which charted at a similar time to Mo Money Mo Problems. The one Colm mentioned above wasn't on my radar but seems obvious now I think of it.

  3. Fairly sure of what the 1 song from 1999 and 3 from 1998 will be, also the 1 from 1996. Could probably guess some of the 4 from 1997 but can't remember all of what's already come up, and feel like I should be able to deduce the 1 from 1994 but haven't yet - before that, I have less of a clue since I didn't follow the charts at the time.
  4. Not sure how far we'll get through the 70s to cover those or which other #2 albums there were, but from the first half of that list, The Sounds Of Silence, Hocus Pocus [i had no idea that was on such a high charting album!] and something by Pink Floyd get my vote (Money is possibly my least favourite track on it though, either Time or Brain Damage are more representative of the album as a whole; similar with David Bowie's Low although I'll see if we'll get that far).
  5. I voted for 5 of those 10 in the final. Good showing for In Your Eyes to make the final alongside the two much bigger hits from the album, Still Into You staying consistent and Shallow getting some stability. Roses is still just about my favourite new chart hit this decade so I'm glad it hasn't fallen too far. Not sure what caused the new peak for Rockabye this year, but for me it's the best thing Clean Bandit (and Anne-Marie) have done so I'm here for it!
  6. If on the Saturday then maybe, but I wouldn't be too enthused about a whole session if it's at the expense of the albums on the Sunday.

I think it was only the 1952-1979 heat which got significantly fewer voters than the other three heats, so alternatively you could have 30 minutes or so after the albums to play the 10 songs which went through from that?

  7. Spotify new peaks in the top 60:

    #12 Psycho

#23 Miss You [Oliver Tree, Robin Schulz]

    #32 Messy In Heaven

#40 Evergreen (You Didn't Deserve Me At All)

    #47 Warm [K-Trap]

    #48 Static

    #52 Calm Down

#55 No Role Modelz [J. Cole - something like its 10th new peak this year, but the first in quite a few months, maybe some TikTokkery now?]

Viva La Vida also reached a new (post-2016) peak of #46 yesterday

  8. +12 Muse – Map Of The Problematique

+10 Peter Bjorn And John feat. Victoria Bergsman – Young Folks

+8 Armand Van Helden – I Want Your Soul

+7 Amy Macdonald – Mr Rock 'N' Roll

+6 Amy Winehouse – You Know I'm No Good

+5 Amy Winehouse – Tears Dry On Their Own

    +4 Holloways – Generator

+3 Wombats – Let's Dance To Joy Division

+2 Kaiser Chiefs – Everything Is Average Nowadays

    +1 Cribs – Men's Needs

  9. Right Here is also the uncredited chart debut of one Pharrell Williams, as that's him saying "S-W-V" (I may have mentioned that before). I also prefer it to Human Nature.

I watched the two episodes, great to see Culture Beat having their moment at #1. Not sure about the Cilla Black song though - seems both that and the album ended up missing the Top 40 oops. RIP
