Yes I hope The Beach Boys songs continue to stream well into next week! In the weekly Spotify chart, 'Diet Pepsi' increased by more than 55%, so I think we can expect that to be reset as one of Addison's three charting songs. 'Let Down' had a net increase of 19% so I fear it may have missed its chance - it had a much bigger increase last week!

I thought Ed's only #1 would have to be 'Bad Habits' - he nearly got a second with 'Azizam'. A couple of omissions stand out for 2021 - 'Save Your Tears' was probably too much of a slow burner, but 'good 4 u' is a surprising one!

Quite the landmark to reach 1,000 multicharts 🥳 thank you to the Personal Charts team for your hard work in compiling them each week! Not the highest scoring weekly #1 from Miley but one of my favourite official chart hits so far this year - happy for it have the accolade. It was #17 for me that week, so apologies to Lorde for those 24 points denying her a first multichart #1, maybe she'll have another chance in #1001?

Three great acts tonight! The Specials / Special AKA were hugely influential in their music and social commentary, all of them were huge talents but the genius of Jerry Dammers was the constant throughout. The linked song 'The Boiler' is one I'd read about but never actually heard before... trigger warning: it's about rape. I might have expected U2 and Erasure to be a little higher, but I expect that's the effect of the early 80s having generally higher sales than when most of their 80s chart successes came.

EIGHT eliminations, ah well this was fun while it lasted. At least SASAMI will be in good company!
