Biggest act without a UK number one: the poll
Alicia Keys is another I thought of, not big enough for the top 3 artists in this poll, but she has peaked at every position from #2 to #9.

That's the chart for Wednesday 10 June: https://charts.spotify.com/charts/view/regional-gb-daily/2026-06-10 The date Spotify put on the playlist is when the playlist was updated (consistent with how they put album release dates) - usually it's the next day, but in this case they went into the day after. Expect if their next update is back on time this afternoon, it will also have today's date on the playlist.

90s Top 10 sales- Week By Week- 1999
Oh so close to Vengaboys having a clean sweep of peaks in the Top 4 (which may or may not have later become Top 5 or 6). That's probably my favourite song of theirs, as trashy as it is. In fact I enjoy all 4 new entries in the Top 10, although I don't return to the Progress one much. The epic slow climb of 'I Try' from #10 to #6 was my highlight of the time covered since I last commented. Alice Deejeay also making it two out of two songs climbing in week 2 when that was becoming very rare indeed.

With 'Rein Me In' faltering at the opportunity to emulate the 15 weeks of 'One Dance' as the most at #1 for a song featuring a female artist, there's more good news for Kyla as one of her own songs from 2009 enters: 163 NE Kyla, DJ Paleface, Crazy Cousinz - Do You Mind - Remix

Pop Princesses 3 • The Rate
6.5 Girls Aloud - Biology 5.5 Sugababes - Red Dress 8.0 Gwen Stefani - What You Waiting For? 7.0 The Pussycat Dolls - Don't Cha (feat. Busta Rhymes) 9.0 Charlotte Church - Crazy Chick 1.0 Britney Spears - Toxic [have to be controversial now, I don't hate the song, but I do find it hugely overrated, and if people can give their -1s to 'Crazy In Love' then I can do my bit to prevent this sauntering to an easy win here] 3.5 Ashlee Simpson - Boyfriend 6.0 P!nk - Trouble 9.5 t.A.T.u. - All About Us 7.5 Rachel Stevens - Some Girls 5.0 Atomic Kitten - The Tide Is High (Get The Feeling) 2.5 Louise - Pandora's Kiss 2.0 Dannii Minogue & The Soul Seekerz - Perfection 4.5 Mis-teeq - Can't Get It Back 3.0 Lindsay Lohan - Over 10 Nelly Furtado - Turn Off the Light 4.0 Ciara - Goodies (feat. Iz ranks the 2010 #1s
'Pass Out' is a fine runner-up, with the standout features being Labrinth's production ranging from video game-like to dub reggae / DnB, and Tinie's trademark "yeaaah" punctuating his verses, where the Scunthorpe lyric sticks in the memory from the catalogue of rhymes. As I mentioned, I may prefer 'Written In The Stars', but this did more for both Tinie and Labrinth in defining their new sound in the new decade. However I'm very pleased to see 'Fireflies' at the top, a huge favourite of mine that was a pleasure to hear in such prominence during those early months of 2010. Its multi-textured sound and lyrical imagery are so delightful, and made for a wonderfully unique #1. I also hadn't heard of The Postal Service before it charted - eventually I tracked down 'Such Great Heights' a year later and could kind of see where the comparisons were coming from, but much prefer 'Fireflies' out of those songs. I think my own top 10 would be: 1 Lady Gaga - Bad Romance 2 Owl City - Fireflies 3 Yolanda Be Cool - We No Speak Americano (feat. Dcup) 4 Tinie Tempah - Written In The Stars (feat. Eric Turner) 5 Tinie Tempah - Pass Out 6 Cee Lo Green - Forget You 7 Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are 8 Rihanna - Only Girl (In The World) 9 B.o.B - Airplanes (feat. Hayley Williams) 10 Taio Cruz - Dynamite Thank you Iz for this countdown and your very insightful and engaging commentaries!

Worldvision VIII | 2026 World Cup Buzzjack Edition
I'd have happily swapped my country for them, or Curacao for that matter. At least with 45 entrants, I can still get a rarely attainable position with a bottom 3 finish.

Worldvision VIII | 2026 World Cup Buzzjack Edition
Agree, I'm sure if it had been one of the last two nations left along with Egypt, it would have been more tempting for others to enter. All of the no-shows have form though, regardless of which country they had, so it's not surprising.

Iz ranks the 2010 #1s
Great to see a clean sweep of Lady Gaga's solo (non-duet) #1s making the top 5 in all their appearances in these rates. 'Only Girl...' is a bit of a banger and the start of a huge era for Rihanna, even if it did soon become a little played out for me and I much preferred 'Who's That Chick?' by the time that came out. Always appreciated the lyrical imagery of 'Airplanes' and it's great that it produced a #1 for Hayley. I prefer it to 'Nothin' On You' though I still don't feel the need to come back to it too often. 'Bad Romance' would probably top this as a standalone rate for me as it did for 2009, but aside from that, my favourite is still to come...

Round 1 : End Of Year Survivor #145
Martine to go first, as a cover it's passable, but not enough to deserve making the song a staple of Pop Idol / X Factor etc. in the years that followed.
-
Round 7 : End Of Year Survivor #144
Whoa, last time I looked at the previous poll, Gabrielle was set to leave and Faithless were in third! Gabrielle again it is then. I don't think that's a particularly remarkable Sophie song either, but if enough people don't want 'Billie Jean' to win because it's an old song, she looks set to win by default.

Biggest act without a UK number one: the poll
I've interpreted this as biggest singles act, and voted Bon Jovi, The Killers and Tina Turner. Can't overemphasise how big 'Mr. Brightside' is for that not to be a #1, add in their three Top 3s ('Somebody Told Me' also pops up in the Spotify chart, 'Human' had sales to have been #1 most weeks in 2008) and they're valid. Loads of these artists have much bigger / more influential bodies of work, but were either primarily albums acts, or in Bob Marley's case didn't have much singles chart success in his lifetime. Bruce Springsteen was the hardest to cut and along with R.E.M. are my two favourite acts even outside of this category, but only a soundtrack song 'Streets Of Philadelphia' came close for him, and all his other Top 10s were from one album.

Friday Chart Predictions
Easy to forget 'Rein Me In' was Olivia's first song to enter the Top 10 and not 'Nice To Each Other'! I think Frankie Laine took 68 weeks to reach his century, he must be the previous quickest.

Biggest act to never have had a UK No1 single
Glee Cast had 100 Top 75 hits. The Killers are a good shout. I suppose AC/DC have to be considered with five songs on 1bn+ Spotify streams.
