  1. Also, seems like any bad blood with Elliott Kennedy might be over. He gave a recent interview to the Mirror and spoke really highly of them. Elliott is, to my knowlege, the writer who had the most leaks (out of his own fault!) and after the Forever pop tracks, Song for Her and Geri's 4th album all leaked, their relationship was soured. He was no-where to be seen during the Spice25 and Spiceworld25 campaigns, nor the 2019 tour, for instance, which many speculated was weird. ANYWAY! This might work well for future aniversary editions coming up (Forever25 and any 30-year celebrations next year!) This is what he said: "They literally crashed at my house," Elliot said. "This was before they had a manager and they were transitioning from the guy that put them together, who was obviously a visionary in his own right, and then we helped connect him to Simon Fuller. "But they were amazing and fantastic girls. Their energy was off the scale and the most difficult thing was containing the energy because they were a million miles an hour. "They had so many ideas that, for a songwriter, was just fantastic. I have nothing but amazing memories from working with them. As I say, they crashed at my house and we just became like family and it's lovely that they went out and changed the world. Being a part of that wave was remarkable and life changing and life affirming in all kinds of ways. "They were just fantastic people and still are and I have a great deal of respect for them all. They worked really bloody hard and deserved everything they got. It was charming and funny and crazy and it was brilliant to be a part of it."
  2. Had it been a single, that would have been my pick too! WHAT A f***ING BANGER!! For this one, I chose Crickets. It's the best 'reinvention' of a classic song she ever did, imo
  3. ok that makes sense. But do you have a link/source?
  4. We gotta ask that guy where he got it from!!!
  5. OK huns, we all know that Baby Bunton is the Queen of Covers. Whilst some of those have been quite... well... 'by the numbers' lol, some of them have actually been quite interesting. I think songs like Crickets, I Wish I Could Have Loved You More, Life in Mono, etc are really great takes on the originals, and provided a side to Emma that the general public are perhaps not so used to: experimental Spice! Here though, I would like us to focus on FIVE covers she has released as singles throughout her various eras. She seems to do at least ONE cover as a single during each era, which is quite rare for any artist to do. So what are your favourites? What I Am Crickets Sing for AnaMaria Downtown You're All I Need To Get By (featuring Jade Jones) 2 Become 1
  6. Bopping to THIS BOP today
  7. Spice is at 11million in the USA https://x.com/chartsartists/status/1937650936824180920?s=46&t=nU-c2Mr7_v8u8Yi48exTKg However, a fan shared this which I never knew about. Does anyone have any more information or is this only fan-made crap? The Spice Girls took legal action against Virgin/Emi in the late 90s, claiming that there were "missing" sales in USA and Australia, at least. For instance, there were "missing" sales/audit of Spice album in Australia and missing sales reports/records for three months of cassette sales. The groups lawyers claimed there were missing worldwide sales for too much single and missing sales in US and incorrect and diminished royalty payments. The smashing pumpkins also sued Virgin too. The Spice Girls asked for an audit of all worldwide sales. In the mid 2000s, it was reported that Spice had sold more than a Will Smith album in the US, which had sales of around 9.6 million. Several US publications said Spice sold over 10 million, including club sales and bmg sales. It was not certified diamond as Virgin/emi/universal will not pay for recertifications. Some report claimed Spice had sales of around 200k a year in the US ? The 7.5 million figure for Spice is based on the figure from around 1998. Their lawyers, who the beckhams still use, were claiming poor accounting and inaccurate sales figures. Their court papers alleged sales figures for japan and Germany were inaccurate too. I don't know the outcome or the legal action.
  8. That Spiceworld design was such a crime, jfc... what a total waste of a release that was...
  9. lets hope so!
  10. Never Be The Same Again is the reason the Spice Girls ended in 2000. Had it not been as successful as it was, you can bet Mel 'im a real musician' C would have crawled right back to the group instead of behaving like a brat back then about the very group that made it possible for her to even have a solo album in the first place. So it is always tainted for me. And personally, even though I like the song, I don't think it is 'all that'. It's a good pop-r'n'b track and that's that.
  11. That nightmare post with the globe was so wasted as an announcement lol Yeah unless there is something really unexpected coming, I wouldnt be expecting to know anything before September
  12. Girls Aloud just announced an album release of their last show 🙃 Why oh WHY do our girls never do shit we want??
  13. I was kind of joking but to be honest, what else do we have for the group for this year? lol
  14. voted for Never Be The Same Again anyway 🤫
  15. Where is the NEITHER option???? 😛
  16. You should make a section for the Group and include the various leaks 😋
  17. For sure, Bag it Up is even worse, I was just being dramatique And yep thanks, very happy to not have that type of taste in me 😛 If it had been the original I Turn To You, I would have voted for it to land at #2 at the very least in this competition! In fact when it comes to quality, I think the original version of I Turn To You is even slightly better than WTYSL but that is mostly due to its production which is immaculate.
  18. I Turn To You sounds like british tourists fighting in Magaluf and being handcuffed by Spanish police and detested by the locals 😇 So I voted for that trash. Worst successful Spice-related single ever, f*** me... I know you BuzzJack bitches will probably vote Emma out now, but that only shows how wrong you all are and how little taste you all are. I will go and listen to my A Girl Like Me on vinyl and be content that at least I now GREAT MUSIC!!!!
  19. I think the first part of the sentence makes sense as it is a matter of taste. But Holler's chances of long-lasting success was really damaged by the way it was released - with little promotion - and how it was received by the industry and press who were adamant they were finished. Had Holler been released in 1999, it would have probably sold much more as perceptions about the band were less violent. I think the proof of it is how it is received everytime they do it on tour - always a highlight - and the fact that it has gone viral a few times since the streaming era. But it gets played little attention by the record label and the girls themselves, whereas No Scrubs and Say My Name are the 'Wannabe' of TLC and Destiny's Child.
  20. dancing to HOLLER!! Forever25 confirmed 😝 https://www.instagram.com/p/DKW0Z14KEd6/
  21. Jesus, that's crazy that is is mostly down to more powerful playlisting.... I suppose the Netflix documentary also really helped... It is odd because No Scrubs is a huge song of course, but it does not feel as iconic and as successful as Wannabe, still today, at least to me...
  22. Absolutely agree with you both. I'm quite enraged at this lol If, one day, they get to do these awful avatars idea, they need a broader discography and need to be more present in people's minds. For that, they need to be out there as a group, and do more music, more touring. HELL, they don't even need to do extensive touring, they can do some musical events, like award shows, TV specials, etc. ANYTHING music related lol I can't believe a group like them only has 3 albums.... it's mind-boggling... Simon is a dinossaur and has been for a long time... Yes he gave them massive fame but he also did a lot of wrong for their legacy, with so much advertisement and relenteless schedules at the time, removing the focus from the music. This was also the guy who said that he would have done a TV show to find a replacement for Geri in 1998. He obviously has little idea on what he had on his hands, or at least he lost sight of it at some point down the line. Anyway, urgh... music or touring, or please just leave us alone lol
  23. Is this true? I couldnt find anything else online about it to confirm... It would mean that No Scrubs has definitely overtaken Wannabe as the best selling girl band single in the UK 😮‍💨
  24. We need a concerted way to get Geri on board for a tour at least. I have no idea how, but that will be the only thing worth doing if they want to get the millions they obviously want to be paid to do anything. It does piss me off that they didnt - and wont - even promote their own music re-releases... they still get millions everyyear from it, if they promoted or did more as a group, they would do even more! It's so frustrating...
