not charts at all is sad but.... oh well... definitely a lot of fans were put off by the lack of effort and the pricing. Did NS, AGLM and Reason chart at all?

I am waiting to listen to it on Spotify when it comes out to see if it is worth getting a copy. So far, this none of the released singles have really moved me... I felt the same with The Sea, which is when I stopped buying her albums, until her last one where I pre-ordered a copy as Who I Am and Blame It On Me on their own sold the album for me. But so far I'm not interested at all in this. I hope I am pleasently surprised

OK time to have topic on their merch. Let's make sure we talk about the merch that has been released since 2019 at least. Back in 2020 they signed a huge deal with Bravado/Universal that was meant to capitalise on their new found interest following the 2019 tour. Since then, they made massive deals and have released unforgivable amounts of merch on their official store/amazon store. This is a list of merch released by the Spice Girls LTD company, Bravado in partnership with other brands. I am not going to keep tags on their historical partnerships, nor on their 'official store merch' cos otherwise I would loose it, it's too much! 2019 - Present day The official merch partnerships include, among other things: Stance Socks LEGOs Red Roses, England Rugby Royal Mail Post Stamps Royal Mint Coins ASOS various tshirts and hoodies over the years Funko Pops - releasing this year Out of those, so far, only the LEGOs seemed to sell pretty well (its basically sold out almost everywhere) and maybe the Stamps and the Coins did pretty well, selling out a few things. The socks and the Red Roses merch were seemingly huge flops... Other than that, can we talk about the state of their official merch and music official store? Since their 2019 tour they have released so much to the point that seemingly even their most hardened fans have become immune to them lol While initially it seemed like all the tour and Spice25 released merch was selling pretty well, it all came to a slight hault when you could get similar items on street-corner shops for cheaper prices (and better quality!), while they flooded the market with 'special merch' for every single anniversay, from Wannabe to Say You'll Be There, to Too Much, to Stop, Viva Forever... It was overkill. Specially when it seemed like they only cared for the merch and the music was once again taking a major back seat. Now look at the state of their webstore: Spice GirlsOfficial Store - Shop Exclusive Music & Merch - Spice GirlsSpice Girls official online store. Shop exclusive Spice Girls CDs, vinyl, t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, accessories, merchandise and more. It's sad as hell. It seems like for the past four years nothing has sold out apart from a couple of items here and there, and they are all still overpriced All the Forever25 and Spiceworld25 music is still wildely available there... like are they really expecting fans to buy a Spiceworld25 vinyl for €40 after 4 years with no discount at all?... Are they nuts? The Red Rugby Roses merch was such a flop and they still have Say You'll Be There 25, era jumpers there in fact most of the 2022 Spiceworld tshirts and jumpers merch is still there and wildely available... I understand why they didn't do any Christmas merch last year, since even their last Christmas jumper from 2024 is still available lol... Every now and then they do a 10% off special promo but 10% is f*** all lol... I don't get why Universal/Bravado don't do an overall like 40% off everything special for the summer to get rid of it all??? What merch do you have? Seriously... Let's see what hoodies, tshirts, coings, umbrellas or pet knitwear you bought

Still, the market and the press were saturated with Spice. That was the point.

You might be right about the cover but she was clearly aiming a more teen adult-adult audience with this album. Sadly, I think she needed some distance from the Spice Girls image first before releasing something like this and be successful. But you are not quite right when it comes to 'not being overrun with output from the girls'. Since Northern Star's release, the girls had released. Sorry for the long post but lets get things right: Geri - Lift Me Up, Bag It Up Melanie C - Never Be The Same Again and I Turn To You to huge success and then released If That Were Me also in the middle of the Forever campaign as well. Victoria - Out of Your Mind (and specially in the UK, she was a huge star, not necessarily well liked by the press and the public). Mel C, Victoria and Mel B were all campaiging for their singles roughly around the same time. Mel C released I Turn To You on August 21st, then the next week, Victoria released Out of Your Mind, both had huge promotional campaigns. Then Mel B released Tell Me on September 25th, followed by Hot on 9th October, followed by Holler/Let Love Lead The Way on 23rd October, followed by Forever on the 6th November. Bear in mind, between August - November 2000 all of these singles and their accompanying videos and albums had huge promotional campaigns, all overlapping each other. Plus, at this point, Emma and Mel B had done loads of TV work as well. Emma was still doing TV work during Forever and Holler's promo campaign as well, and Mel C was still touring her own solo tour (she did her first and last arena headline date on 5th November). They were still everywhere, just in their solo capacity. The saturation of Spice-related outputs plus how obsessed (and vile) the press was, was absolutely an issue by the time the Forever campaign started. Mel B releasing Hot in the middle of this, by her own demand, was her downfall, as was the Forever campaign.

I just got the unnoficial original design vinyl sleeve from this account and my oh my it looks amazing and just how it should have been!! What a wasted opportunity from the label to invest in the pictures just like they did with the AGLM and NS release. the original cover is iconic and would have made even more impact imo...

It was Mel's own decision - she wanted to release in October after Tell Me against Virgin's wishes. I will never understand it, it was so clearly a stupid ass decision. Even if she wanted to release Tell Me first, why not wait for the album to be released in 2001 with Feels So Good as the album launching single?... Honestly, the two Mels really f***ed up the Forever release with their own solo demands/priorities at the time. No wonder Virgin was so keen on getting rid of them - they broke their (at the time) biggest and most profitable act's big comeback...

CLOCK IT!

For me, I would choose them in this order: Free Me Life in Mono VB Spice Girls live in Istanbul I saw that Madonna just put out a Confessions Tour vinyl through RSD and damn it, why can't the Spice Girls do something like that too?... So many bands do it as well... It would sell really well...

Yeah I thought she would be all over it specially now that she has already done NS and Reason (although she didn't even mention Reason in her own channels lol)... She's funny like that... like, she has her own record label and could easily get a deal with RSD and do it... get some limited editions going, one per year... Beautiful Intentions and The Sea particularly would do really well.

So far, we have gotten Northern Star, Reason, A Girl Like Me and HOT released on limited edition vinyl for Record Store Day, with various degrees of success and/or care put towards said releases. What would you like next? You can choose multiple options

Gosh I find Schizo so embarassingly cheap pop...... like she went to poundland to produce her own version of the Spice album and it came out really poorly done. It's terrible and it never clicked with me. The only good song I find in it is Someone's Watching Over Me but her vocal is so ghastly on it... it should have been given to someone else to sing it. The main issues with ANY of their solo albums though, is how they don't sound very well produced probably apart from VB, FM and NS. The production on those sound high quality! The other main issue with ANY of their solo albums? The lack of the presence of the other 4 Spice Girls on them...

I am SCARED to think what they will do with Free Me and Life in Mono if those ever get a RSD release... I can imagine both just being pink with Emma's name and the title a la Reason and that will be it. Shame though, cos the pink Free Me cover is f***ing iconic and unique! We need the full release!!! I think they are probably aware that it would sell better than Reason so hopefully they can re-license the images/artwork!

To be honest I bought it today and it wasn't that bad! The picture disc with the transparent sleeve actually looks a bit retro which is cute. But yes of course I would have loved the full cover and proper artwork as well. I think they probably didn't expect to sell even close to what Reason sold (and that didn't sell out either so....)... My local record shop had 5 copies and they all went. I got the second to last eheh About prices, I was a bit shocked. Most vinyls this year were going for €60/70 which is insane. I had asked the shop beforehand and they saved a copy for me. On the stand it was going for €57 but the guy had saved mine and only charged me €41 minus 10% discount as I am a regular there. Otherwise I would have probably not bought it as yes I do think €57 was too much. I told the guy and he said RSD is going really high prices this year and he was also surprised. But the vinyls were selling really well so 🥲
