Crazy to think that the last ever 5-piece tour was actually their worst ever :( Of course it has some highlights, but the dark and boring staging, the awful set list and the costumes really kill the enjoyment for me. I went to see it at the 02 at the time and whilst of course it was amazing to see them for the first time, it was all a bit meh to be honest... zM6msSsqvcw High points: - Viva Forever - perfect, specially the music arrangement - Stop - Mama - 2 Become 1 - Goodbye - The intro was cute too, a great way to start the show The mid-points: - Who Do You Think You Are (the staging, cos the fact that it wasnt live was too noticeable) - Holler (purely for the novelty of finally getting a live performance, but they sounded terrible and the arrangement wasnt the best either...) - Headlines (it was cute with this live arrangement, though the staging could have been better...) - Too Much (it was fine, but nothing special... I dont think the remix was particularly interesting at all) - Wannabe (I often find Wannabe is just sort of.... there... when it comes to their live tours... a bit meh) Low points: - The solos were totally pointless... we wanted ALBUM TRACKS!!! At best, a solo medley would have been cute but this was just trash - That awful Celebration covers medley... - That awful If You Can't Dance performance... - The Spice Up Your Life reprise. Totally pointless and awful - The costumes... like, what the f*** was that?... - The talking bits they had a certain points, were so clearly scripted that just sounded fake as f***... - The cancellation In comparison, I think their first ever live show still holds today as their best: Istanbul. All 5 were amazing, the staging was moody but cool and the vibe was Spice with an edge. The only thing I am missing from Istanbul show is a couple more Spiceworld tracks like Viva Forever and Never Give Up On The Good Times. Apart from that it was perfect! Second would be Christmas in Spice World for the live arrangements and set list alone! Plus, *some of the girls* were incredible live at the time! Those performances of Step To Me, Viva Forever and Never Give Up were just incredible. The only bad bits were Mel C (sorry but she really didnt seem like she wanted to be there) and the costumes. What where your favourite and least favourite live shows?

Spice Girls - Chart Runs & Sales Thread: Worldwide
I dont think Mel had any success in Portugal beyond First Day of My Life, sadly

Spice Girls - Chart Runs & Sales Thread: Worldwide
Pretty sure it was in an afternoon Portuguese soap opera lol like, in Portugal :teresa: She even came to perform in it, I remember that It was called Morangos com Açucar and it had a few seasons, where they would use various songs to promote it/in the credits on each episode. I remember I Want Candy was one of them

Spice Girls - 'Spice'
I honestly doubt they would do it for such an album but I could see it for the Greatest Hits actually :teresa: Or Spice30??
-
Spice Girls - 'Spice'
Damn I would have LOVED it if the girls did something like this to celebrate their 25th anniversary of Spice mgR7n6vwwvU

That film was not released anywhere other than the UK, as far as I remember...

Spice Girls - Chart Runs & Sales Thread: Worldwide
Bless her heart, she cant even chart since then in either country anyway :teresa: She count even sell the two live shows she did in Lisbon and Porto around that time either lol... But Beautiful Intentions being #1 in Portugal meant around 60k albums which is HUGE in Portugal for sure! All thanks for First Day of My Life's inclusion in a local telenovela (she also included I Want Candy in one, but it floped to oblivion lol)

1million albums in Spain is absolutely crazy. I think it was like the best selling album ever in Spain from an international act? But to be honest with you, the 'singles' market was never a think really in Portugal and Spain... I believe before iTunes came along we didnt even have singles charts and you could barely see them in record shops. It's just not a thing. People buy albums only. So for Wannabe to sell that much is absolutely iconic

I thought Holler was also #1 in Brazil? Or was that Forever? And yeah spiceboy, Wikipedia is not reliable... There's lots of #1s missing from that list for instance

Oh... thats strange. Might be worth going through that thread though for more information... I though Headlines' highest peak was in Spain #2???

Some more info, from this forum It includes many certifications, peaks and chart runs such as the below. A lot of it goes back to 2004 when it was posted so some of the information might not be up to date when it comes to sales/certifications. An example of info available there: ITALY Albums chart run - up till the end of year 2000 Spice 22-20-15-11-6-6-4-4-5-4-4-3-4-4-3-2-4-5-7-7-7-7-8-8-9-10-14-12-10-13-12-14-14-18-19 Spiceworld 2-2-2-2-4-3-7-6-6-6-6-6-8-15-16-13-20-23-24-22-19-24 Forever 14-21-20-38-28-38-46-49-45 SINGLES Wannabe 23-6-4-7-6-12-11-5-14-12-10-17-15-19-25 2 Become 1 15-9-10-17-23-25-24 Say You'll Be There 23-24 Mama/Who You Do Think You Are 21-12-19-25-22-21-16 Spice Up Your Life 11-9-3-4-3-5-4-7-7-12-11-13-19 Too Much 20-16-20 Stop 22-22 Viva Forever 19-16-12-6-2-3-5-3-2-5-5-10-22-22-23 Goodbye 21-4-3-3-2-2-3-4-7-13-20-25 Holler/Let Love Lead The Way 12-5-10-10-8-11-18-19-19-47-49-45

Oh probably but honestly I think Outer Space Girls is just tips the edge of cheesiness they were labelled as, as they probably decided to not include it to move on from that a bit too. The closest to the level of cheesiness of that song in the album is Do It and that is already quite b-side level so I am glad they also kept that one away. Really they should have included Step To Me (mixed by Spike) and Walk of Life in the album.

At PopJustice forum, an interesting investigation into some of the mixing of Spice Girls and solo-Spice Girls music by Mark ‘Spike’ Stent has highlighted some potential interesting things: Originally, all Spice album songs were mixed by engineers Andy Bradfield, Al Stone and Dave Way, all of whom are more r'n'b leaning. Spike only came in after the success of Wannabe and Say You'll Be There single mixes, who then mixes all the remaining singles too. Due to this success, he was then in charge of mixing all the songs in Spiceworld album instead, as well as Outer Space Girls b-side. Since we know that Walk of Life was originally intended for the album (there are promos of the album with its inclusion as Track 8), and none of the other b-sides were mixed by Spike, it would be safe to say that maybe Outer Space Girls was also originally intended for the album but ultimately then left off. So maybe we had originally a 12-track album being planned, before both OSG and WOL being relegated to b-sides. Goobye was the last track he worked on from the girls. I wonder how Forever would have panned out if he mixed those songs too! I would imagine he would have had they released the album in 1999 with pop and r'n'b tracks as it was originally planned. He also was sent, prior to release of the album, all singles from Geri's solo album as well as Walk Away (which leads us to think that it was meant to be a single as well). Victoria sent four tracks to Spike to create single mixes: Not Such An Innocent Girl, A Mind of Its Own, IOU and Like That prior to the album being released, not the rest of the album at all either, which leads me to think these four were the originally planned singles before the campaign took a halt after AMOIO flopping Anyway nothing major, but I thought it was interesting that songs like Outer Space Girls were potentially intended for the album (it always screamed b-side to me) and tracks like Walk Away, IOU and Like That were potential singles from Geri and Victoria.

Hhmmmm I just noticed something... does anyone know when the writing credits for their songs in their first two albums started to shift into individual crediting instead of the 'group'? Basically back in the day, prior to Geri leaving, they were always credited as 'Spice Girls', and for Goodbye and Forever, they were listed individually so as to avoid Geri getting any money from such releases, whereas I would imagine that Geri under 'Spice Girls' as a writing credit beneficiary for the first two albums. Their collective crediting is even in the Spice25 and Spiceworld25 inlay, meaning that it didnt change with time for those songs at least. BUT if you go on Spotify, they are now individually credited for the songs, whereas beforehand they were still collectively credited. Mel B is even credited as 'Mel B' rather than her full name Melanie Brown as she is credited in Forever/Goodbye. For reference, she started to go by Mel B officially after her divorce (I think!!). So do we know more about this? Or is it a mistake on Spotify? I guess we would also find out in the new clear vinyl release of Spice if anything has changed since 2021's Spice25

Spice Girls - 'Spice'
Yeah the overall reception from the fans has been quite 'meh'... there have been so many variants of the same 10 songs lol They should have given Spiceworld a try at least, I'm not sure that album has had many vinyl variants beyond its 2020 release (black vinyl, standard) and the Spiceworld25 variants It is not like the Spice25 variants are all gone either lol plenty still available all over the HMV/Rough Trade and their own website. So why not try something different?... Spiceworld25 with Step to Me on it (after Denying) would have BANGED and gotten the fans to buy it at least...

Spice Girls - 'Forever'
Oh I would absolutely let them spit roast me lol I bet at least one of them has played on the downlow :teresa:

Spice Girls - 'Forever'
Straight men :teresa: But it is an easy mistake to make if yoy don't know the group well and are only going through their videos. Mel C looks totally different from their previous videos and maybe they thought that the hair was a bit ginger like? LOL

According to Chris on Spice Circle, there is no Christmas tour this year from Emma. Speculation is that it is a Christmas album. I would bet she might do the interview/TV shows rounds a bit to promote it, which is the right thing to do but I would hope she would perform it live, damn. I probably woudnt go (lol) but some intimate Christmas gigs could be good to do, I think!

Have added Mel C's registered duet with Natalie Imbruglia, which we know has been recorded but never released! Do you guys know the two songs that were registered recently? Some reason I cant find them? They were registered in the last couple of weeks, and I blieve they were co-written with Cathy Denis?
