  1. Definitely was hindered by the lack of b-side, but to be honest if they had done the original date, they would have faired better and even go #1... But yes it was the first single to not have a bside, which then became the norm for them as all subsequent singles (bar Goodbye!) lacked one as well. Their insistance on live tracks was cute as they wanted to prove they could sing and were a live act. But they should have just done a live album as planned and include more b-sided anyway. It was so strange that Stop didn't go to #1 as it was everywhere, the choreography is iconic and the song is one of the better known from the 90s!... The press really lapped it up as well that this was confirmation that they were over... A mistep though that rightly was then proven to be bullshit with the success of Viva Forever, Goodbye and Holler all going in at #1! I do think a bigger crime is Holler not managing yet to get to Platinum... now THAT is a serious injustice!
  2. Definitly Forever, for the various reasons. It was such a great album and deserved better recognition. Sadly them landing at #2 was such a slap and the press really went to town on them for it. Even it dropped harshly in the following week, I think it would have at least given them a clean slate of #1 albums at the time which was unheard of for most groups, let alone girlbands. Then, I think it would have really pissed of Westlife and that asshole Louis. What a f***ing plage for the music industry they were (and Louis Walsh was a viper and should have absolutely been cancelled back then let alone wait until last year for him to get his rightly public cancellation!) Plus, I think it would have given them a bit more confidence as a 4-piece. It really did a number on them as a group to not succeed with Forever. It reinforced the (wrong) idea that they were nothing without Geri, and also that the group was 'over'. I think it also gave amunition for Mel C to put a stop to all campaigning. Stop and What I Am would have also been cute but both were hits nonetheless, and Stop ultimately got its dues at least, I think those are less important. What I Am, I don't care much for it. But I HATED that they went against each other and that Geri basically sold her soul to win the chart battle. It was a sad, sad moment in Spiceworld, in my opinion, and just reinforced that I was kind of done with Geri. True, both of them could have moved it but I think their record lable wanted the chart battle. I just wish that Geri wasn't so obviously and publicly turned on by it! So after Forever I would have picked that one. Plus I don't think Geri deserved it at all, the song was f***ing rubbish (and rightly forgotten nowadays lol)
  3. (gosh I f***ing needed a rant about this.... I'm sorry... I should really get back to my life and my own issues now...)
  4. The whole situation between Mel B and Geri seems really stark lately... they seemingly have completely fallen out, to the point that Geri hasnt even aknowleged Mel B's wedding in any way and has kept a distance for a while... While the UK press (trash) keeps saying that it is because of how Mel B reveleaved that they had a one night thing, I think it goes much deeper than that... Somehow, they seemed to have fallen out properly around the time when Geri and Christian had a very public cheating scandal last year, at least... Lets be clear: 2019 - ahead of the tour early in the year, Mel B goes on (fascist-adjancent, moron, Israel-loving) Piers Morgan TV show and states that her and Geri had a one night stand. While this is not news for anyone, somehow this becomes 'scandalous news'. Both had said it over the years or at least hinted at it for ages... Geri releases a statement saying that it was hurting her family. We all know that Mel B shouldnt 'out someone' without their consent, but Gerita's statement reeked of 'I am a posh person now and such dwealings aren't very proper now that I have a posh family' and to be honest, reekes of a little bit of homophobia. This is the same Geri who herself has mentioned and/or hinted she had lesbian affairs throughout her career. Now, she seemed against it. The girls go on tour anyway, and Geri and Mel seemingly have made amends, and they hand out after the tour as well. Mel B even goes to Geri's husbands' car-racing 'shows' and they are snapped througout the year together. 2020 The group go on hiatus after all plans get cancelled by 1) Geri not wanting to tour anymore (and mentioned by both Mel C and Emma) and 2) by COVID cancelling all their plans Rumours somehow go around that the girls are still planning things but noting comes from it 2021 None of the girls promote Spice25 apart from Mel C. Clearly the group isn't very 'together' anymore. Rumours start to fly that the group is over because COVID broke all their plans and they have 'move on' to other projects 2022 - 2024 Various plans are annouced and then cancelled including the annimated movie and various 'planned' tours. Geri announces she is releasing - and focusing on- her children's books 'Rosie Frost'. Whilst the book gets to #4 on a random New York Times Best Sellers list, it flops everywhere else. Spiceworld25 campaign goes live without any of the grils promoting it, and their absence is even more clearly stated than during Spice25. Most of them jsut share the original post on their instagram stories and call it quites. Various merch is released on their webstore without any promo. Clearly, the group is over. Yet, Mel B and Mel C and Emma all voice their intent to carry on. Geri and Victoria keep saying they are done with it. 2024 The year starts with a BIG BANG with two projects announcing the groups' 30th anniversary: UK's Royal Mail Limited Edition Stamps - all the girls post on instagram and seemingly shout about the whole '30 years' angle. Speculation goes rife about this being the big year for the band to celebrate 30 years in the business. Liverpool's British Music Experience exhibition on the group's music Emma joins Mel C's show at Koko in London to celebrate MC's 50th anniversary. The rest of the girls send in a video message. It looks like they are all together and hints of the 30th anniversary keep dropping. Then, Geri's husband gets caught in a cheating scandal. His dick pics are leaked online. During the scandal, Geri makes a move to show a united front with her husband, showing up with him everywhere. During this scandal, Mel B posts this criptic message on twitter/X: Today was sooo shocking and heart wrenchingfor me!No woman should EVER be made to feel like I did today I was devastated, shamed and traumatized.Learn respect learn compassion and LEARN how to uplift other women #triggered #geteducated #womensaid #girlpower The group goes completelt quiet again. The press speculates that all group projects are over because Geri has decided to focus on Rosie Frost and her husband. Mel B seems really cross, even seemingly being pissed about Geri and her husband, calling him 'that man' and saying they aren't talking in a fan-driven show during her promo campaign for her 'Brutally honest' book re-release. Eventually they all turn up to Victoria's 50th birthday celebrations and sing Stop and Mama together. It goes viral. Yet, Mel B and Geri don't seem to interact at all. Mel B goes on Instagram and states that Vicky and Geri are not keen on touring or any group projects, seemingly feeling defeated and saying 'oh well, maybe next year'.... but it all looks quite over... 2025 Geri is clearly focused on Rosie Frost work. She even mentions she has another book coming out and acts quite condescending about the group in interviews. She is quite excited about a 'big hollywood producer' having the rights to turn it into a movie. She refuses to acknowlege any possible group reunion. Mel B and Geri seem completely over. In Mel B's sting with a BBC TV presenter special programme, Alison Hammond's Big Weekend', Mel states that she and Geri aren't talking. Geri fails to acknowlege - let alone turn up - to any of Mel B's wedding or borthday celebrations. It feels really pointed... Sorry, I just had to lay it all out... It seems like somehow they fell out last year properly around Christian's cheating scandal and Geri's intent to stay by her husband and her children's books. Really would love some inside gossip about what really really happened.... All the girls seem to be rallying around Mel B whereas Geri seems completely over it...
  5. Very glad Mel C and Vic's parents were there. They seem very close! Their own daughters should learn a thing or two about being there lol Gerita being completely silent felt very very pointed.... what a sad state of affairs...
  6. Today is Mel B's BIG day and even though I don't often follow their personal lives, I am very excited and proud of her for seemingly finding someone she seems totally happy with. Showing up to the wedding are various celebrities and Emma is representing the Spice Girls. The press is saying she will also be singing at the wedding 🤩 Amongst the guests is also Simon Fuller, surprisingly, which means they are still in touch. I don't think Fuller has been to any of the others' weddings or even birthdays since the 90s, and he never particularly seem very close to Mel B so I am happy they seem to be closer at least recently... Some other celebs are present including Alan Carr, Daisy Love, Katherine Ryan, etc. Even Victoria's parents showed up! Very sad though that Mel C and Victoria, at least, didn't show up either. We know Mel and Geri aren't in great terms right now so her absence is not surprising, but I would hope that VB and MC would show up as they seem very close still. Some photos below:
  7. Seems like it's a hit, it's now sold out on its first day across both the Admiral and the girls' websites... but still some available through that link below. I wonder if they will do more? It certainly bodes well for their partnership that it sold out
  8. that's it?...
  9. loll pretty big sports clothing company
  10. @Jay this is ban worthy!
  11. They do love to randomly drop that Spiceworld globe on social media without any more context hey? LOL Admiral Sports is big though, good for them I guess?
  12. optimism might be stretching it, I'm being more like delusional at this point
  13. agree... But it would bode well for their 30th anniversary 😛
  14. Also, seems like any bad blood with Elliott Kennedy might be over. He gave a recent interview to the Mirror and spoke really highly of them. Elliott is, to my knowlege, the writer who had the most leaks (out of his own fault!) and after the Forever pop tracks, Song for Her and Geri's 4th album all leaked, their relationship was soured. He was no-where to be seen during the Spice25 and Spiceworld25 campaigns, nor the 2019 tour, for instance, which many speculated was weird. ANYWAY! This might work well for future aniversary editions coming up (Forever25 and any 30-year celebrations next year!) This is what he said: "They literally crashed at my house," Elliot said. "This was before they had a manager and they were transitioning from the guy that put them together, who was obviously a visionary in his own right, and then we helped connect him to Simon Fuller. "But they were amazing and fantastic girls. Their energy was off the scale and the most difficult thing was containing the energy because they were a million miles an hour. "They had so many ideas that, for a songwriter, was just fantastic. I have nothing but amazing memories from working with them. As I say, they crashed at my house and we just became like family and it's lovely that they went out and changed the world. Being a part of that wave was remarkable and life changing and life affirming in all kinds of ways. "They were just fantastic people and still are and I have a great deal of respect for them all. They worked really bloody hard and deserved everything they got. It was charming and funny and crazy and it was brilliant to be a part of it."
  15. Had it been a single, that would have been my pick too! WHAT A f***ING BANGER!! For this one, I chose Crickets. It's the best 'reinvention' of a classic song she ever did, imo
  16. ok that makes sense. But do you have a link/source?
  17. We gotta ask that guy where he got it from!!!
  18. OK huns, we all know that Baby Bunton is the Queen of Covers. Whilst some of those have been quite... well... 'by the numbers' lol, some of them have actually been quite interesting. I think songs like Crickets, I Wish I Could Have Loved You More, Life in Mono, etc are really great takes on the originals, and provided a side to Emma that the general public are perhaps not so used to: experimental Spice! Here though, I would like us to focus on FIVE covers she has released as singles throughout her various eras. She seems to do at least ONE cover as a single during each era, which is quite rare for any artist to do. So what are your favourites? What I Am Crickets Sing for AnaMaria Downtown You're All I Need To Get By (featuring Jade Jones) 2 Become 1
  19. Bopping to THIS BOP today
  20. Spice is at 11million in the USA https://x.com/chartsartists/status/1937650936824180920?s=46&t=nU-c2Mr7_v8u8Yi48exTKg However, a fan shared this which I never knew about. Does anyone have any more information or is this only fan-made crap? The Spice Girls took legal action against Virgin/Emi in the late 90s, claiming that there were "missing" sales in USA and Australia, at least. For instance, there were "missing" sales/audit of Spice album in Australia and missing sales reports/records for three months of cassette sales. The groups lawyers claimed there were missing worldwide sales for too much single and missing sales in US and incorrect and diminished royalty payments. The smashing pumpkins also sued Virgin too. The Spice Girls asked for an audit of all worldwide sales. In the mid 2000s, it was reported that Spice had sold more than a Will Smith album in the US, which had sales of around 9.6 million. Several US publications said Spice sold over 10 million, including club sales and bmg sales. It was not certified diamond as Virgin/emi/universal will not pay for recertifications. Some report claimed Spice had sales of around 200k a year in the US ? The 7.5 million figure for Spice is based on the figure from around 1998. Their lawyers, who the beckhams still use, were claiming poor accounting and inaccurate sales figures. Their court papers alleged sales figures for japan and Germany were inaccurate too. I don't know the outcome or the legal action.
  21. That Spiceworld design was such a crime, jfc... what a total waste of a release that was...
  22. lets hope so!
  23. Never Be The Same Again is the reason the Spice Girls ended in 2000. Had it not been as successful as it was, you can bet Mel 'im a real musician' C would have crawled right back to the group instead of behaving like a brat back then about the very group that made it possible for her to even have a solo album in the first place. So it is always tainted for me. And personally, even though I like the song, I don't think it is 'all that'. It's a good pop-r'n'b track and that's that.
  24. That nightmare post with the globe was so wasted as an announcement lol Yeah unless there is something really unexpected coming, I wouldnt be expecting to know anything before September
