The placement on New Music Friday UK is atrocious though... it's at 48, so it wont get that many streams from that. I hope the album is better

No, I see the appeal though Lady Gaga and Elton did this recently and the results weren't great in my opinion... Also, I don't think Adele or Taylor would do it but I could see Ariana, Dua, Billie doing it

I am sure there will be other 'exclusives' too... The song is terrible so for now, I wont be buying anything from this campaign unless she releases better music. I will listen to the album when it goes on streaming though, I could see it working as a whole body of work if she goes the Confessions or Renaissance way where all the songs flow together.

meh... personally I am not too bothered by that idea to be fair... I would rather a new album or an album of unreleased tracks from back in the day.

Funnily enough, the Documentary might have accidentally shed some new light on Victoria and her reunions with the Spice Girls since 2000. There's an ongoing discussion on forums at the moment about how she was trapped for cash for her business around 2018 - which is when she and Simon invoked the now infamous meeting between them all. Seemingly, fans are speculating that Victoria was wanting to gather some cash-ins with the group, mainly from licensing deals to make buck for her struggling label. But when the group instead decided to go on tour, she pulled out while still seeing her income growing from royalties and licensing deals anyway (as she is still co-director of the Spice Girls LTD company). Remember they posted that image as 'this is about celebrating Girl Power to a new generation' and brand deals poured in, the animated film started to be developed, and the tour was offered to them quite quickly afterwards. At the same time, in the documentary she talks about 'shedding the wag image' she had when she moved to America and started to build her fashion brand with mentorship from Rolland Murray and Simon Fuller. She was still the 'blong bimbo WAG' back then, and she needed to shed that image, and make money to build her fashion brand at the same time. So her and Simon took it upon themselves to set up some new meetings and get the Spice Girls as a group together, so she could get that injection of cash, start making fashion deals and 'become posh', more sofisticated looking again - more palatable for the fashion industry than the WAG image. It was during this 'era' that she started to partner with fashion labels and make deals, such as those jeans she designed and launched during the tour, the modeling deal with Marc Jacobs, etc... Plus, it helped raise her profile in America again which is also what she wanted and what was lacking at the time. It's interesting, in my opinion, these angles, and they make total sense to me. Her heart hasnt been in the Spice Girls for a long time, but she drove those reunions - at least initially - to pump cash and profile into her own fashion label, and perhaps we wouldnt have either without these meetings happening in the first place!

Yeah they cant escape the shallowness of it all, I'm sorry... Plus, I don't buy the whole we dont have money to cover this when even when articles were coming out that the company was in the red, they were also having articles coming out how they themselves were getting richer and richer lol Also, on another point: why can't she draw, or sketch the designs? I know she didn't have the training but... shouldn't she have the training at some point? LOL The documentary does very little at showing what she actually does other than approve designs 🫠

Yeah I mean we've had so many promises from Mel over the years that didn't turn into reality, so we should keep our expectations low... I could see Universal doing a limited vinyl of Hot for Record Store Day, as that would be the last solo Spice one released under that label to still not have had a release (as VB and Geri clearly would not allow theirs!).

Yeah, me too, honestly... I bet if someone was to entice them with a couple of studio sessions with Ronson and then some more with Biff to see how that would turn out, it would be pretty ace. I think MNEK would also jump at the chance too, same with the likes of Jon Shave (Sugababes, Charli XCX)... Even Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis said they would love to work with them again a couple of years ago... Come on...

Not quite that, sadly... He does have links, just like a few others do - like Chris who I find more reliable. He does have connections and was even invited backstage back in the 2019 tour and he is in regular contact with the team because they see him - and a few others - as representatives of the fandom... It's crazy and stupid...

I kind of agree with the Madonna fans in the way that she got Stuart Price to re-do these songs whereas he had no input in the originals... Plus I am a sucker to listen to demos, because it shows process rather then being presented as finished songs whcih they were not, and it is not like they will be ever treated as 'proper releases' anyway, so it feels pointless... I would rather hear the raw demos!

yeah it was apparently Geri and Emma working with Biff and then the others joined in 'from afar'... Biff talked about how the process was very different during that era and they were not together doing the music, with Vic and Mel B recording their bits in LA... I think the record label talked about it in the Music Week magazine back then too, that even the 'party la' line was an attempt at recreating something like 'zig-a-zig-ah' but they were not together in the studio... crazy! Mel C also talked about how it was a time where they didn't have much input in what was going on back then, so I asume that it was mainly the label and management wanting to drive things and it wasnt organic as they used to make music before... It shows though... both Headlines and Voodoo feel disjointed and like their hearts were not in it..

Yeah I totally agree with you though, it really pissed me off because here is a fan who is somewhat close to them and he is saying to them directly 'dont do new music'... It's such a f***ed up thing to say to an artist lol If I was one of the girls, having a fan that somewhat represents the fandom, telling me not to do art, I would be discouraged to do that of course... He was also the one who helped leak a lot of music that then got shelved, so I dont really understand the relationship and closeness to them. Anyway yes, ship him to the moon right now!
