TFI Friday official channel has uploaded one of the Spice Girls best ever live performances! I really wish they explored this type of sound a bit more back then. It was the perfect bridge between Spice and Spiceworld and could have been a proper hit if it had been released as a single. Wild that it was a Pepsi only song for so long. While they were on their biggest tour singing it live every night, you couldnt actually buy or hear the song anymore as by 1998 the campaign had all but finished lol so unless you had bought it, you would be stuck!

Again... kind of.. yes, for sure it is mostly the older generations but they do have a considerably big streaming presence for a UK girlband that has not been active properly since 1999 and have consistently neglected their own legacy of music for the best part of 25 years. They have 13million monthly listeners on Spotify, which is a lot and nothing to sniff at I say UK girlband because Spotify main audience is in the US.

Kind of?... If streaming wasn't a thing or so impactful, believe me that they would have re-released the standard versions of Spice and Spiceworld on phisicals much more over the years, to make sure the money would continue tickling in from those sales, and more 'special editions' too like other bands. Yes their main income would be merch, ads, radio play and sindication (i believe even before streaming, they were getting like 2million each per year from these lol). Now, if they tour again and re-release their music, they will continue to make even more money... Let's see what happens this year with the 30th anniversary.

Well, streaming in general killed off artists' main second income stream which was record sales (singles, vinyls, CDs, cassettes, etc). Most artists don't sell that many of those anymore, and it is one of the main reasons artists now charge so much for their tours. While streaming does provide earnings to million-streaming artists, platforms like Spotify have cornered the market and basically pay 0,0006 per stream, which is mindblowingly-low. You need to be making hundreds of thousands of streams in the UK to earn like 10,000pounds for one song. Artists get money from radio plays, as well as TV plays of videos, and also sindication (basically by being placed on adverts, pub playlists, gym playlists, festival playlists, local fairs playlists, etc). They get better money from this than from streaming nowadays. But streaming at the same time reaches hudnreds of millions of people (Spotify alone has like 600million users) so it can increase visibility if they highly placed in playlists, etc. This raises their profiles and thus makes them more in line to get better sindication... But in general the income from streaming is much less than they would get from when record sales were still the main way for people to consume music. What is even more disgusting is that Spotify invests in AI military technology and pays far-right nutjobs like Joe Roegan £60milion for a f***ing podcast. Whereas most artists don't see a single penny from them. It is one of the reasons why so many hate them. Another reason is that Spotify is generally really bad quality of sound. Apple Music is considered the best alongside Tidal. And Spotify has essentially focused on single songs rather than 'albums', which sucks ass as well for album-artists. Hope that makes sense?

Spotify is the main streaming platform and yet they pay the least to the artists. So they probably made a few million over the years but split between everyone probably doesnt amount to much at all. It is actually a huge issue and one of the reasons as to why some artists loathe Spotify, as it really killed off a lot of the artists income. YouTube, Apple Music and Tidal are the platforms that pay the better rates so thats probably why they have invested in youtube clips, videos and performances over the past 6 years or so.

When it comes to videos, even if she has less videos, Emma clearly does it better than Mel C.
