  1. There's a new article in the Daily Mail about how Music licensing companies have been requested the song a long from Universal, including to be featured on ads and movies, which is wild. I would hope Victoria wouldn't be so mean as to stop any of that licensing happening - at the end of the day, she would get money from it at least.... but more so interesting about the article, it states that the album has sold 100,000 copies worldwide. I blieve this is the first time we have any information on worldwide sales of the album? It also doesn't seem very far fetched. It is a low number overall specially for Worldwide figures.
  2. meh... it's definitly better than Sweat though
  3. I dont think any of the ballads would have worked, personally. I love That Kind of Girl, but it would have flopped real hard, in my opinion... She loved IOU and I think they were probably going for the 'ballad for the famous husband' type of marketing strategy. It would have also flopped hard. She should have stuck with the more upbeat songs for singles.
  4. I think she took the making of the album really seriously and I agree that overall it is a great debut - only bested by Northern Star. The album sounds gorgeous and really well produced, and you can tell it was an expensive affair. Seeminly she recorded a more pop-oriented album in 1999-2000 before pivoting to r'n'b in 2001. She was hated. After Forever and the whole 2000s debacle, I don't think many of the solo projects had a lot of chances to be honest. People were bored and it is safe to say the hits that came out in 2001 were basically due to the quality of the songs and/or specific tactics (and whatever small group of peopel was left from the Spice fandom at that point). The GP was kind of done with them and Posh in particulay was a laughing stock. Each of the girls needed to come out with an absolute banger (Emma with WTYSL and Maybe, or Geri with IRM) to get any type of good press/successs. This is why the campaign was so baffling, specially from someone as Victoria who is a master at branding and marketing. From the singles choices to the cover, to the whole design of the singles and performances, it all reaked of 'trying a bit too hard to be a posh popstar lol'... Who really thought that IOU or A Mind of Its Own were serious contenders for singles?... it's baffling... NSAIG leaned into the Posh-persona in many ways, she looked like a Posh Spice trying to be edgy and it was wrong, it was too tacky to work. Like That, I Wish and Midnight Fantasy could have provided her with serious pop-r'n'b with a dash of fun, something more truthful to her own personality and pop profile. She had the potential AND the album to be successful, the release strategy was just all wrong, sadly.
  5. Some curiosities around some Victoria Beckham tracks... 1) It's crazy to me that actually Victoria holds the ONLY solo Spice-related album track released pre-streaming to have over 1million streams on Spotify: Midnight Fantasy (the only other solo album track in the last 25 years to make it over 1million without being a single is Emma's cover of 2 Become 1 with Robbie Williams and her cover of Come Away With Me lol My Happy Place was actually a smash omg!!!) The song was never released as a promo, and it pre-dates the streaming era by a few years, and it is included in a seemingly flop album. YET it's a gay favourite from the 1999-2000 gays that love pop music and often rant about it online, and once it went semi-viral because Madonna's Miles Away single has a similar melody and people threw a hissy fit online about it lol It is also at one point Victoria's only entry on Spotify's This is Spice Girls playlist 2) The original singles lined up to be released were Not Such an Innocent Girl, A Mind of It's Own, IOU and Like That, and they were the only songs on the album mixed by Mike 'Spike' Stent. You didn't book Mike if you didn't want to make it a single or a central point on the album. Strange how the first two singles flopping made them try their luck with I Wish instead and bring random Robbie Craigh to the mix. Did we ever find out who mixed the cancelled single? This made me thing about how stupid it was that they didn't go with Like That straight away as the opening single, or at least the Second Single!!!!... It made sense as the sound was popular, the song was BOP CENTRAL and miles better than NSAIG, and A Mind of Its Own was a cute song but should have never been a single. Also, she really loved IOU didn't she?... I find the song so lame... WILD that she wanted it to be a single! She could have had a perfect run of singles, and probably a more sucessful one, with Like That, Midnight Fantasy, I Wish, Watcha Talkin' About but most of those were never even considered! She really picked three of the least interesting songs as singles lol 3) It is always funny to me that Victoria released Resentment as an original song in the Real Beckhams DVD. Only to be a total flop and forgotten to the point that eventually BEYONCÉ of all people, picked up the song, added ONE WORD to it, recorded it and released it as her own. Technically Beyoncé did a cover of a Victoria Beckham song and I wish more of this was made about it in the press lol
  6. I have added this information including the writing credits. Some of these I had no idea about and they point towards a more pop-oriented direction in 2000 before they pivoted to more r'n'b-pop in 2001... I have a question @-Jay- as I saw that you mentioned you used to be a forum mod in the old Denden and you witnessed the shenanigans around the leak of the second album recordings. Did the Denden mods edit the tracks themselves to be sonically different or just things like length and titles? I know there is a lot of confusion around this and I dont find the thread on PopJustice particularly useful lol
  7. She made it to the We didnt even get an official update on NSAIG despite it being #1, sadly... I doubt we will get any solo sales updates anytime soon (unless Jay sleeps with an intern at EMI again!)
  8. Thank you! I imagine these are from the first album sessions?... So many unreleased songs that our VB has (could be great if they all leaked lol)
  9. They all look stunning!
  10. Goodbye has been there since day 1 as it was uploaded on their VEVO account - which automatically distributes the videos through other places, gathering other streams. I don't know why they didnt in the first place with the rest of the videos tbh...
  11. You can now listen to WOMAN (Live at Christmas in Spiceworld) on Spotify too as it has been officially added to VEVO on YouTube and on Spotify lol
  12. Not sure but at least HOT is already Silver because of shippings. I guess back in 2000 there was the perception that there would be more demand, so more shippings were made. But it didnt sell enough for that certification. VB never got a certification based on shippings so I guess it never actually printed that many albums, but it might achieve that soon due to downloads and streaming (or if she agrees to a vinyl print!)
  13. Out of Your Mind up to #11 now in the UK!!! and AMOIO up to #72 She's about to have two singles in the Top10 lol
  14. I hope so! It deserves it! It is the only debut solo Spice album to not have a certification, which in gay law is a CRIME!
  15. A Mind of Its Own TOO??? Jesus what a renaissance lol
  16. I seriously, honestly doubt it. people are downloading this as a result of a public fallen out with her son. It's quite personal and it wouldnt be very wise to do that.
  17. no hun... the lore is this: A few people got hold of the demos and were about to leak them on Denden. VB's team got in touch and said they would sue them. The demos were then changed by those who had them and were leaked in the versions we know... that's what was said back during Denden times lol they did that to avoid being sued so the songs that leaked were different from what they had acquired. It could just be bullshit but who knows?... And no, those songs were demos only. They would need a lot more production - and vocals reworked - before being released. Victoria simply wont do that.
  18. album is now at #11 on iTunes!
  19. She does not have a UK #1 in the actual charts, and she wont even chart this week lol She only has a #1 in the iTunes Chart which will mean roughly 1000 copies over the week were sold. She will probably get on the Download charts somehow, but lets see.. Sadly she can't claim to have a UK #1 single, that wont be true. The funny thing is that she is the ONLY Spice Girl - including group - to actually have an iTunes #1 😅 None of the others have it - Headlines didnt even make the Top10 back in the day lol... Of course the main charts is what really counts but she would need a good 5000 copies at least to make it to the Top100 or something like that. We don't know if she deleted the masters. We know she bought them off Telstar back when the company folded, and she tried to buy the masters from the VB album and the masters from that era from the label in order to remove all her solo music from streaming back in 2019 but they declined (lucky us!!)... Seemingly, according to PopJustice, her mum has contacted some fans to say the family - and Victoria - is appreciative of this and the support. Who knows, maybe she will agree to a future vinyl or to even get at least teh LYHG/TG single on digital platforms. Nothing else was, as far as we know, 'fully finished' or ready to release and I seriously doubt she would accept unreleased music to be mastered/readied to be release now lol
  20. I'm kind of glad it's Not Such an Innocent Girl to be honest... with the passage of time, Ive been appreciating it much more
  21. Apparently the song sold 666 copies on iTunes in the past 24hrs (screenshot of sales breakdown available on Spice Circle)
  22. Out of Your Mind is also back in the iTunes charts and climbing: iTunes: #9 Ireland #42 United Kingdom
  23. If it doesnt chart it will be because of lack of streaming, sadly... certainly not this week... Viva Forever just about charted when it was in the Top10 on iTunes and getting 90k streams per day for weeks. But it is great to see her doing so well and back on the iTunes charts at least! Go Vicky!! Certainly the song will be over 100,000 copies by the end of this, and if it leads to AT LEAST a vinyl coming out, that will be a very sucessful campaign alltogether by the fans at large!
  24. IMAGINE if she agrees to at least a Record Store Day release of the album on VINYL????? AT LEAST!!!
