The on air/on sale release is essentially the singles chart i grew up with (the late but i assume all of the) 80's to EARLY 90's - the further back in the 80's the rarer song debuting in the top 10 or higher - there was no such thing as front loading, back then, that created a ridiculously unstable chart in the late 90s,when a majority of the top 10 would frequently all change by the next week.The closest to front loading was Heavy Metal groups who fans so devoted/organised to achieve a high new entry that would never connect with the GP and just as uniquely bomb straight out the chart. My point - despite the lower frequency of HIGH new entries this was NOT a stagnant chart IN ANY PART. Just like suggesting this approach now will make stagnancy in any part the norm is complete OXYMORON because that implies a unexplainable, constant disappearance of new big hit records on the chart. Even though records peaked lower with more stability, there was still also movement, the continual flow + exchange as singles reached the peak from the positive feedback of promotion/position but unlike the unbelievable ENDLESS "DESERT of new hits" over the past few weeks, new hits would regularly rise/take off leaping quickly at first as they move to the top in a wave of succession - like with the usual (ie not last few weeks) Sunday digital new releases progressing up iTunes but played out over weeks rather than hours/a couple of days. re Kylie Relevance debate. Over something so subjective there can never be a definite answer.Perhaps Kylie's commercial career has now come to end. Only time can tell. Madonna's career in the UK was vastly bigger than Kylie's, while once M had a string of Multiplatinum albums both studio + GH and endless consecutive guaranteed TOP 10 hit single that has all relatively quickly come crashing to a halt. However since the non-album with guest artists Higher version has been released it has completely superceded the album version which despite being stable in the top 20 has now drastically fallen. Surely that means Kylie and/or Travie's presence has caused a massive increase of success/appeal for the track? (see chartstats.com) Another major relevance "the one" managed to get parent album "X" back into the top 100.......NOTABLY only for ONE WEEK + ONLY at position #99 :( To be fair though of course "The one" was the fourth single, i wouldn't be surprised if a 4th Aphrodite single (*IF* there is one)didn't get into the top 40 even, all thing considered now, but will it have more effect of the albums chart run than "the one"?.

Having experienced little music media recently i see i obviously can't just go on "dry" stats like take 'compare my radio' so literally. Could someone enlighten or direct me to where i might find out(eg earlier in this thread, i have looked back a fair few pages with no luck) why the Kylie version of Higher(given the Taio album version still has a separate listing) is jumping up the chart - is it just the usual severely botched, functionally crippled (as in cataclysmic disaster levels), misfunctioning (but importantly looks nice + makes u KOOOL in your delusional excuse for a reality creating machine AKA the MIND!) $h!te from crApple (iTunes in this case)? - given that AFAIK NO Radio station is playing it APART from :drumrolls: "Isle of Wight Radio" according to "comparemyradio.com" and the Higher vid airplay is just the (granny free) Travie version (?) - i don't believe it's due Kylie LOONS since I haven't even heard/made an attempt to hear it, never mind contemplating downloading it etc ( i would have to drag my arse into loon action if/when any (Kylie version)physical was released, apparently EMI have produced some for the German mkt(?) someone suggested that as possibly the UK will too(?)
