  1. BBC Radio 2 commemorates the 50th anniversary of The Beatles' Abbey Road album. Starting at 9.30am on Thursday 26th September to midnight on Sunday 30th September. That’s 44 programmes over 4 days. I’m looking forward to hearing the Official UK Top 60 most streamed and downloaded Beatles songs on Saturday 28th September at 5pm to 7pm and on Sunday 29th September again at 5pm to 7pm. So 60 tracks in 4 hours. Will they just add total digital downloads from November 2010 to streaming equivalent sales from December 2015? Or will there be 2 separate lists? I assume original physical sales will be ignored. Hope the OCC web site publishes the Top 60 list with the sales figures. See Radio 2 Beatles
  2. Taylor Swift’s Official Top 20 biggest singles Read the article here. Her Top 100 biggest tracks have amounted to 17 million sales (when physical, downloads and streaming equivalent sales are combined. She’s managed to rack up over 550 million plays across her singles alone. She’s no slouch when it comes to albums either; shifting some 3.34 million across her five releases in the UK. Taylor's most recent album Reputation is fourth, on 378,000. NOTE: Style is Taylor’s tenth biggest single in the UK, with 515,000 combined sales, split between 303,000 downloads and 23.7m streams. This gives a streaming equivalent ratio of 111.79. Shake It Off with 1.6 million combined sales in the UK, made up of 987,000 downloads and 72.9 million streams. This gives a streaming equivalent ratio of 118.9. Why are these ratios not exactly 100:1?
  3. Beatles digital downloads only began on 16.11.2010 and Beatles streaming began in December 2015. Let it be has just passed 400,000 digital sales plus streams. So give it time to improve.
  4. And where is You'll never walk alone?

  7. New buyers enter the record market every week. People are continuing to buy CD players or turntables for the first time and need to buy records - CD, vinyl, downloads. And the UK population continues to rise. Same applies to other catalogue albums - Queen, Beatles, Bob Marley etc.

Yet another BPI award today. Beatles - Let It Be - Apple Corps - Gold - Single - 02.08.2019 - 16.11.2010 So in just over 2 years Let it be has added on an extra 200,000 downloads and streams. Just wait another 20 years and every Beatles track could be certified. Total sales approaching 700,000. Hey Jude probably next for a further certification.

So all these re-calculations will affect all-time sales. You can't really add physical sales to streaming sales? The history books need re-written.

What streaming ratio does BPI use for their singles certifications?

So when are the 150:1 and 300:1 ratios used? And what ratio is used for all-time sales?
  12. They should have kept the price at 79p. And albums are far too expensive as well.
  13. They have not updated the rank order positions or the sales figures. They are both out of date. :(

Belfast's HMV store is once again under threat just over a month after it was taken over by Canadian music retailer Sunrise Records. The Donegall Arcade outlet was included in the portfolio of shops sold as part of a rescue deal with Doug Putman's firm at the start of February. But the Belfast Telegraph now understands that the potential closure of the last HMV in Northern Ireland is not linked to the music chain's administration, but instead stems from a failure to agree new terms with Donegall Arcade's landlord, Sports Direct. Just weeks after heaving a sigh of relief when Sunrise rescued their jobs, staff at HMV were yesterday left to erect prominent closing down signs in the windows of the city centre premises. Announcing to customers that 'Everything must go', staff informed shoppers that the store is earmarked for closure on April 28, or sooner if all the stock is sold. At this stage it appears unlikely that HMV will seek another premises in Belfast.
  16. It's in the Buzzjack Sales Vault. liamk97 says he will be updating the list shortly.

No, it was combined sales. OCC said "The chart - which ranks albums by combining physical sales, downloads and streams in the UK - reflects album sales of 135 million across more than 60 years. Chart is based on album sales and streams from 1956 to week 39, 2018." I assume OCC database uses only DUS sales, and hence is lower.

Oasis - What's The Story Morning Glory - Platinum 15x - 4,500,000. Yet on 13/10/18 the OCC gave sales of 4.94m. So where does the extra 440,000 sales come from? I assume BPI gets its sales figures from the OCC?
