BEATLES - YELLOW SUBMARINE Gold Certification (Album) 12 August 2016 UNIVERSAL MUSIC (APPLE CORPS) Released 09 September 2009 Certification History: Silver Certification 22 July 2013 So that's 100,000 CDs, vinyl, downloads, streams in 7 years. It was in the Top 100 chart for just one week, no. 89. Is it really selling 275 copies per week? Or have they included original CD sales from 1994 (when BPI started) to 2009?

OCC does not include streaming sales in their all-time lists. So less than 50,000 sales in a month.

Beatles Revolver at no. 36 following a price reduction for its 50th anniversary.
  4. On Albums chart, To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the release of Revolver iTunes has reduced its price by £5 to £6.99. Watch it climb the charts.
  5. An update from Music Week, Number one for 12 straight weeks when first released in 1984, Bob Marley & The Wailers' Legend is the fifth biggest selling compilation, and the 16th biggest selling album overall. It is also back in the Top 10, charging 39-8 (8,518 sales) after the digital version was reduced £4.99 on iTunes. Although on its 487th week in the Top 75, Legend has spent only 22 weeks in the Top 10, but has accumulated sales of 3,442,880. It is not always clear what these figures represent - shipments, physical (vinyl LPs, CDs, cassettes), digital downloads, audio streams, Music Club sales. Wish OCC/Music Week would make it clear.
  6. From Music Week 30/6/16 I suppose it might be to addition of the deluxe version, whether it added on 50% of the Frank/Back To Black double CD (to ensure consistency with the treatment of Queen's Greatest Hits) and of course streaming sales are not included in all-time lists. BTW there appear to be 280,000 downloads sales. The inconsistency with Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill is the exclusion of Music Club sales from the 1990s.
  7. Try here for a list of actual million sellers.
  8. Great news for You'll never walk alone - the very first record I ever bought. It took its time. :cheer: How many more songs are close to the million mark in pure sales?

  18. After further research this is an update of a book first published in 2005 (which you can buy on Amazon for £0.01 plus £2.80 delivery). It is based on RIAA certificates with some Soundscan data thrown in. The original book only had a top 10 for the start of the 2000s decade and had Nora Jones on 10.8m. It excluded greatest hits albums. Unfortunately nothing yet from the OCC regarding a best selling albums book. If they do put a list on their web site I hope there are sales figures given. But will BPI certificates synchronise with these updated sales totals? There were some upgrades in February.
  19. Coming soon .... Best-Selling Albums: From Vinyl Records to Digital Downloads. Hardcover – 28 Nov 2016 by Dan Auty (Author) Publisher: Amber Books Ltd (28 Nov. 2016). Amazon pre-order £17.08 "Thriller, Sgt. Pepper, Dark Side Of The Moon, Rumours, Born In The USA, Up!... these are just some of the epoch-defining albums of the past six decades: albums that have appealed to fans across genres, albums with songs that have imprinted themselves on our collective memory. Based on recording industry sales figures, Best-Selling Albums is the definitive guide to more than 100 chart-topping records of the past six decades. From Miles Davies and Nat King Cole in the 1950s to Adele today, Best-Selling Albums features the most successful artists in the history of recorded popular music. Alongside old favourites and recognized classics including several albums by The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Eminem there are enough surprises here to amaze even the most dedicated music buff. Would you have guessed that Norah Jones's bluesy album Come Away With Me would be the top-seller of the 2000s? Or that the biggest soundtrack of the past 20 years is the collection of bluegrass songs from the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou? Every album is illustrated with a sleeve artwork, front and back, providing a fascinating overview of the evolution of record cover design across the decades. Each entry is packed full of information, including background on the recording of the album and its place in cultural history, as well as a full track listing and detailed musician and production credits. In addition, there are listings of the biggest-selling movie soundtracks, the top 100 albums by sales, and much more." Wonder if this refers to USA albums?

BPI now says, WIZZARD - I WISH IT COULD BE CHRISTMAS EVERYDAY Gold Certification (Single) 13 May 2016 WARNER MUSIC (RHINO) Released 04 April 2006 Certification History: Silver Certification 01 December 1973 Does anyone proof read these entries? They are confusing physical and digital awards.
  23. Will there be an accompanying OCC book with facts and figures? Are we past the cut-off point for sales data?

BPI database also lists, WIZZARD - I WISH IT COULD BE XMAS EVERY DAY Silver Certification (Single) 01 December 1973 EMI (HARVEST) Released 30 November 1973 Digital and physical sales have not been combined. Different spelling - duplicate entry. And they probably have different catalogue numbers. Xmas instead of Christmas. So 250,000 + 400,000 = 650,000 at least.
