  1. I'd say it was partly Boris too, as the loveable funny buffoon.
  2. He/she will cut taxes in 2024 as an election bribe.
  3. I have 3 first cousins who live in chilly Penistone, next constituency to Barnsley. All lent their Labour vote to Boris last time but won't next time. Penistone back to Labour then. Rumours that the press has some dirt on Penny but will sit on it for now. Couple of scandals apparently. Labour will use that at the election then if she's PM. ;)
  4. Remember it has to go to the membership folks. The 1922 has stipulated that. So one dropping out like Andrea Leadsom did in 2016 to make May PM can't happen.
  5. Don't be too sure. Remember they have an 80+ majority which will be very hard to overturn in one election. Even our Suedy has said that. Labour fear Penny more than anyone else.
  6. Sunak v Morduant final two with Penny the winner. Be afraid Starmer. She'll beat you in the election as she'll hold those Red Wall seats.

Wow and Djokovic loses first set 2-6.
  8. Sad news. Obviously didn't have continuing high security like ex British PM's or US Presidents do or he wouldn't have been so close with a gun.
  9. I would hardly call him a failure. Journalist, London Mayor, MP, Foreign Secretary and Prime Minister. Not a bad CV and bet it's better than anyone here could ever hope to attain. He got Brexit done and handled Covid well. In fact I heard one of his enemies say that he thinks history will be quite kind to him.
  10. Seems many MP's want him to go immediately, like today and not wait until his successor is chosen. A sad day for me. Am very very sad but can't help how I feel. :(
  11. I for one will be gutted when Boris goes. The party should be ashamed of himself. He won them an 80+ seat majority in 2019 and isn't even allowed to fight the next election. Sunak is an absolute disgrace. Boris gave him the Chancellorship after not being an MP very long and that's how he repays him. Ashamed to be British today.
  12. Hmm. Even I can't see him outlasting this. Sad days. Very sad days for the UK. Ah well you get what you deserve. I think you lot will regret the loss of Boris. If it keeps The Tories in power, great though.
  13. Didn't Amber Rudd once say no sane woman would share a late night cab from the pub with Boris? Think it was her.
  14. Diane Abbott's put her foot in it tonight. Speaking on the BBC's Broadcasting House she said that "Boris likes assaulting women" Libelous if he wants to sue.
  15. He doesn't need to. He's done very well for himself in life and carved out a good career in politics and has money. You don't have to economise if you can afford not to.
  16. NO. I've said this before and will say it again. The reason many people, not all, have to go to food banks is largely because they don't know how to manage money properly. You prioritise. Firstly and most important, shelter, roof over your head, then fuel in the form of food then your bills. No vodka, cider, lager, ciggies, internet, I-phones UNLESS you can afford them and have money spare after the first three. At age 16, students should be taught money management before they leave school. We struggle as we've a massive £900 a month house loan to repay to her employer. Just put my readings in and next gas bills will be £386 and £286 respectively. Last year each were less than half that. We ECONOMISE though and think, do we really need this? I don't drink Mon to Thu now as can't afford it. May have 2 cans each day, Fri to Sun.

Train fares have rocketed. I used to book a couple of weeks in advance return from London to Barnsley via Sheffield and could get for £23. Could even get £15 by booking more in advance. Haven't been since mum died in early 2016 though. Now it's £55 minimum, some days £80 return. The coach is just £7.50 return but takes 5 hours and you can't take dogs. Always took Evie to my mum's.
  18. I still think he's been a great PM though. You talk as if he's murdered someone. Most you list are minor transgressions. We all make mistakes every day. Leave the guy alone. Would love to see you or all his critics here do his job. EDIT. Just to please T.Boy. He had Covid yet still steered us through the pandemic as well as any other PM, including Corbyn or Starmer could have. He got Brexit, the will of the UK people, done satisfactorily. Despite a few teething problems it's been fine so far. No mass food shortages that were predicted. He brings a bit of fun in to the top job. Far too long occupied by boring men and women in grey suits. His morals ie number of wives he's had and cheated on and his number of children, has nothing to do with his job. It's below the belt to bring his immorality up Joopster. There are worse men, and women than him. He seems happy with Carrie and they have two nice children. I for one, along with millions of others, will be very sad when he goes. Yes I know many will be happy too. Am not stupid. Seems to be a marmite figure now.

As I've said on Sleeping Dogs, I'm sad about the lack of interest in this sad but interesting case.

Three part documentary started tonight and continues tomorrow and Tue at 9, about the Al Hili murders in the French Alps 10 years ago this Sept. Doubt we'll learn much new though. French police still aren't sure whether the family were the intended victims or the cyclist, Sylvan Mollier. Al Hili's brother was a suspect but released due to lack of evidence although they did fall out over the inheritance from their parents a few years before. Mollier married a rich pharmacist and owner and heiress to several pharmacy shops. Her father is rumoured to not have approved of the union. Also rumours that the wife, a dentist, could have been the target and not Al Hili. The British cyclist who came across the scene first is an odd one. He didn't report it immediately as he said he couldn't get a phone signal but police have proved there was a good signal there Both daughters, now 14 and 17, live in undisclosed locations and have 24 hour armed police protection as they were eye witnesses and could recognise the killer. This will remain for as long as no-one is convicted.

Agreed. I think they'll just sneak in by playing dirty and coming out to give Starmer a real fight. The odds are on for no overall majority now though and odds about the same for either Labour or Tories to win most seats. Next Tory leader favourite is still Hunt, but only just ahead of Truss.

Boris has said that he intends to remain leader and win the next election and the one after that and stay PM in to the 2030's. So there you have it folks. Think positive Boris. EDIT. There was apparently fury in the Tory party after his remarks and he's now been forced to say he was joking.
  23. Just to correct you. Hillary got over a million more votes than Trump, yes, but that's not what decides who becomes President. It's the Electoral College and he won that. I believe it's wrong too. Should go on majority of votes cast.

All Governments become unpopular and lose mid-term by elections. This is nothing new. The Tories will be returned to power with an increased majority in 2024. I'm confident of it. They'd be foolish to dump Boris too as he's a proven vote winner.
  25. What better time than now for a new Kate CD hits compilation. Okay I know CD's don't sell but it would shift a fair few and downloads too. Christmas, Kate? Loads of tracks since 1986's The Whole Story.
