  1. I know that and I eat fish 4 times a week as I love it. Nothing wrong with a bit of beef though. It's processed meat, particularly pork like bacon, sausages, salami etc that's bad for you. I still think we've got a great Aussie deal and the Government seems to do too. Liz Truss was full of praise for it on TV today. Yes we need other deals but this proves we can do one ourselves without interference from the EU and their daft rules and regulations.
  2. You've misunderstood me. It's not great news but it's good news for UK consumers. Beef can be expensive. We'd eat far more if it was cheaper and Liz Truss said on Sky News that it will be. It's all about competition. British beef farmers will have to work harder and produce theirs cheaper then and sell it to the big supermarkets and butchers more cheaply.
  3. Australian beef will become much cheaper than British beef meaning that more Brits will be able to afford it. Great news. I love beef but we don't have it often as it's too expensive. Of course British farmers are moaning but they'll just have to produce theirs more cheaply then and take less profit. The news that Aussie wine will be cheaper is great too.
  4. From The Metro. The UK has secured a free trade deal with Australia in the first major agreement negotiated from scratch after Brexit. Downing Street said the tariff-free deal will see British products such as cars, Scotch whisky and biscuits become cheaper to sell to Aussies. Britons under the age of 35 will also reap the benefits of being able to travel and work in Australia more freely – suggesting the farm work requirement on working holiday visas could be scrapped. Boris Johnson said ‘This is global Britain at its best – looking outwards and striking deals that deepen our alliances and help ensure every part of the country builds back better from the pandemic.’ Industry leaders have raised concerns over possible compromises on food standards, while farmers fear they could be undercut by cut-price imports. In a statement setting out the benefits of the deal, the government said it will eliminate tariffs on Australian favourites like Jacob’s Creek and Hardys wines, swimwear and confectionery, as well as increasing choice for British consumers and saving households up to £34m annually. It said distillers will be helped by removing tariffs of up to 5% on Scotch whisky, while car manufacturers in the Midlands and the North of England will see tariffs of up to 5% also cut. https://metro.co.uk/2021/06/15/boris-jo ... i=14773236

As we sadly found out three years ago it's not limited to sport and activity at all. It's not a heart attack either. About 630 people from aged about 12 to 35, male and female, die suddenly in the UK each year. Most have been nowhere near a sports field. The heart just suddenly stops and if you're not near a defribrillator or someone can't restart it with CPR within a few minutes then you're dead. It's a rare heart disease usually that hasn't shown up in real life. There are about 6 but after death the PM can't show which one.
  7. This missing person case has fascinated and intrigued me for years. If you want more info go to Reddit or Websleuths where there are multiple discussion threads and theories etc. Andrew, 14, and young looking, skipped school and caught a train from Doncaster to London in early Sept. 2007. He was caught on CCTV leaving King's Cross station and after that, nothing. A woman's sure she saw him eating the buffet a bit later in Pizza Hut nearby. From the description and his mannerisms this sighting is all but confirmed by his heartbroken family. When asked by the Doncaster station lady ticket seller if he wanted a return ticket, costing not much more, he said NO. He took no clothes. As it was a Friday morning he put his uniform in the washing machine. His parents only realised he was missing when they called him down for dinner. South Yorkshire Police didn't realise for 3 days, until the ticket seller came forward, that he'd gone to London and suspected his father. They were so late checking CCtV that most had already been wiped by the council, Pizza Hut and local businesses. Many supposed sightings since though, mostly in London and Brighton. He did have extended family in Sidcup but they say he never went there or contacted them. He knew London quite well as had often been on visits with his parents. He knew his way round the tube etc. What happened after he arrived in London? KC is not a very nice area, wasn't then and isn't now. Known for prostitution and rumoured to be a haunt for pimps looking for young rent boys. He'd have stood out a mile. Chances are high that he's dead but not necessarily. How could a 14 year old survive though unless he had a lot of help. He had no mobile phone and no PC. His sister had a laptop and that was checked by police computer experts and they found no trace that he'd even used that or had an email account.. Rumours were that he was being bullied at school. Did he run away never intending to return or was he groomed? He was very brainy and had attended a summer residential school the summer before. Speculation is he could have been groomed there. The not knowing if he's alive or dead is pure hell for his family. They even paid to have parts of the Thames searched by divers. A body was found but not his. Did he go to commit suicide? Why go so far to do that though. Most do it at home. His sister married a few years ago and the family thought if he was alive that may bring him home. A few years ago a man went to Leominster police station, which is out of the way in a business park, saying he had important information about Andrew. It was closed so a cop the intercom told him to return next day but he never did. A letter to BBC1's The One Show from a man saying that was him was received but no follow-up. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disappearance_of_Andrew_Gosden The most popular theory, and mine too, is that he ran in to the wrong person that Friday and was murdered but who knows. He has a very unusual ear with ridges on it so could be identified from that. Also a very strong glasses prescription for his age. Opticians were asked to look out for any young man with such a strong prescription.
  8. Yes or a country vibe. Something different needed next year and not another ballad. Think those are doomed to fail for us.
  9. Embers was far from the worst song. Three letters were the reason we came bottom with nil points and you can read it on plenty of other sites today. BREXIT. Europe hates us as they did before we left but even more now so we could send the best song ever and we'd still come bottom with zero points. Wogan said it when he quit and think he had a good idea as he'd presented it for 30 years. Norton thinks the same but daren't say it but has hinted at it and seemed frustrated last night. There you have it. No it wasn't a super song I admit and never top 5 let alone a winner but wasn't that bad and certainly didn't deserve bottom and what was the absolute HORROR which won. Awful song and one I hope I never hear again in my life. Even the Lordi one was bearable. Where are all the great catchy songs these days like Abba, Bucks Fizz, Brotherhood Of Man, Teach-In, Milk And Honey, ones with a real catchy chorus. That's what we need.
  10. Yes, Rock Bottom has grown on me recently too, quite catchy, but what a title to enter with.... :o
  11. Strange that Mary Hopkin isn't on ether of these. She has said she hates the song though. Maybe licensing issues.
  12. Which ones are your favourites. I like: Knock Knock Who's There - Mary Hopkin. - 1970. Hot fave to win beforehand but beaten by the great Dana. Long Live Love - Olivia Newton John - 1973 Bad Old Days - Co Co - 1978 One Step Further - Bardo - 1982 Lonely Symphony - Frances Ruffelle. 1994. Great, should have won. Flying The Flag - Scooch.- 2007 Teenage Life - Daz Sampson. - 2006
  13. The No.2 album was the double album, The Very Best Of Elton John, which was another huge seller that Christmas. Has entered at No.1 only to be deposed by Madonna and bed in at No.2.until new year.
  14. Anyone enjoying this as much as much as I am? Discs 1 and 3 are the best though. There was a similar one in the noughties called Ultimate Eurovision Party but this is more extensive and has more recent winners too. No Cliff or Celine but those are because they couldn't license the tracks apparently, rather than any issues with Cliff appearing,
  15. Got my second jab next Friday, 21st. Wife's got hers on Sunday. Heard horror stories of people having awful side effects with the second one when they had none, just like us, with the first.
  16. LOL. Why? He has done nothing wrong, apart from be popular with the electorate, which his political opponents are jealous of, or he'd be under arrest wouldn't he. :o Just because the Tories aren't your party, it's a bit pathetic to wish their leader in jail. Thought you were far more intelligent and reasonable than that Suedy.
  17. BUMP. Really enjoying Now 12" 80's. Great collection. The longest track, at over 14 min, is Yellow's The Race.
  18. Sadiq Khan has just been re-elected London Mayor.
  19. Yes Boris is an Eton and Oxford posh toff but with that he's also a loveable mistake prone silly buffoon too and people like that. :D
  20. I'd say so. Labour leader after the disastrous Starmer.
  21. Boris is aiming for at least 10 years as PM and wants to beat Thatcher's record of 11 years 6 months.

There were no press spoilers this time. It was announced at 8.15 though that someone would die so had to be one of the two.
  23. Just can't see it. They were 1/64 to win it earlier.
  24. It's really like shuffling the chairs on the Titanic. Starmer should realise he'll never be elected and go now.

Michael obviously no Tory win is excellent for you as you're a Labour supporter. For us Tories and Boris fans it is a great result. You have the wrong leader AGAIN. Starmer just doesn't connect with people and doubt that will change before 2023/24. As was said on BBC News channel earlier, many people still think he's a toff and see him in his Attorney General robes. Boris is just hugely popular no matter what he does. Starmer was pathetic holding the roll of wallpaper. Turned the serious subject of No.10's re-decoration in to a joke. Starmer will lose the next election and Sadiq Khan will be next leader. I actually fancy Andy Burnham as leader and think he connects with people.
