  1. As far as I can see no-one's yet mentioned John Smith. Labour leader from 1992 to 1994. Had he lived he would surely have become PM in 1997 with a majority maybe a bit less than Blair's though. Maybe Blair would never have been PM. Instead fate dealt a cruel blow in May 1994 when Smith, a popular Labour leader riding high in the polls, had a massive fatal heart attack in his bathroom. :( I can remember well the newsflashes around 9am that morning as the country was in shock and the glowing tribute from PM John Major in the Commons before it was suspended out of respect. Harriet Harman became acting leader until Blair was elected the new Labour leader. Smith was a popular politician and from what I've read, a lovely man, a gentleman.
  2. At least I answered the question posed rather than laughing at another person's choices. It's not bait either. Those are my choices at the present time. Tony Blair was an excellent PM too.
  3. BORIS JOHNSON for getting Brexit done as he promised and Margaret Thatcher for standing up to the unions and building a good economy. From abroad, Donald Trump. Hope he's re-elected in 2024. Sounds like he's going for it again.
  4. OMG yes it could well be. 8 does sound like a lot. I bet I've been had!! :D

  6. According to Record Collector magazine, 8 artists are yet to agree to appear on Now 9 and negotiatons could take months. More talks aren't expected now until June so a July release looks unlikely. Can't get the article to copy and paste or link to it.
  7. It's wrong what Now are doing to Cliff. He wasn't convicted of any crime yet is boycotted by them now. His Christmas songs are no longer on Now Christmas. Congratulations should definitely be there. Disc1 easily the best. I'd hardly play Disc 2. You can see the titles better on Twitter and enlarge it.

Well done. That's very admirable of you. As to the flags, yes I think we should fly as many as possible. People should fly them from their homes. Let's take a pride in our country.

It's a Government building. With respect, do you pay for any repairs for your classroom ie if there was a burst radiator? No. All this is just another reason to have a go at our elected pm with an 80 seat majority.

Okay, sorry, didn't know that. He also pays for their own food and drinks unless they're for an official Government meeting such as a Cabinet meeting or dinner for a foreign leader. Same in the US, the President receives a private food and drinks bill every month. Only State functions are paid for out of tax-payers money.

Why Boris should pay for repairs to any part of No.10 when no Prime Minister has in the past? No US President pays for repairs to the White House either except for maybe re-decorating to their own taste. It's a working Government building.
  12. From Absolute Radio online. https://planetradio.co.uk/absolute-radio/mu...pbMmTmWwSysEWL4 Revenue from vinyl record sales is set to overtake CDs for the first time since 1987, the British Phonographic Industry has announced. Thanks to strong sales of albums including AC/DC’s ‘Power Up’, Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Rumours’ and Queen’s ‘Greatest Hits’, vinyl revenues rose by a huge 30.5% in 2020 generating £86.5 million in revenue. Campaigns such as LoveRecordStores, Record Store Day, National Album Day and HMV Vinyl Week all helped vinyl sales, while rising direct to consumer (D2C) sales of physical products also gave the format a boost. In contrast, sales of compact discs fell by 18.5%, however the format still generated £115 million in revenue last year. If sales of both vinyl and CDs continue at the current trajectory, the British Phonographic Industry predicts that vinyl will be the dominant physical format revenue-wise in 2021. Geoff Taylor, Chief Executive BPI, BRIT Awards & Mercury Prize, said: “Vinyl’s exceptional performance despite retail lockdowns confirms its role as a long-term complement to music streaming. 2021 is likely to be the year in which revenues from LPs overtake those from CDs for the first time in well over three decades – since 1987. “In addition to the immediacy and convenience of streaming, fans want to get closer to the artists they love by owning a tangible creation, and more and more of them are discovering how vinyl, or lovingly created CD box-sets, can enhance their experience of music.”
  13. According to tomorrow's papers there's going to be a dog and cat food shortage, especially of the wet meat food in pouches. From Daily Star: "Shoppers are stockpiling pet food from Sainsbury's and Tesco over fears of a national shortage. The blame is being put on a surge in pet owners during the coronavirus lockdown.# https://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest ... ource=push Tesco has also been hit with a strong demand for packets of tasty treats for people’s precious pets. But the chains insisted tinned and dry food was unaffected. The blame is being put on a surge in pet owners during lockdown, and follows toilet rolls flying off the shelves last year. Sainsbury’s said in an email to customers: “Due to a national shortage of dog and cat food pouches, we’re sorry if you’re not able to find your usual product at Sainsbury’s. We’re working hard to resolve this.” One angry customer tweeted: “I just had an email from Sainsbury’s apologising for the shortage of cat and dog food pouches and they expect it to last all year!" Wonder why it's pouches in particular. I buy tins as weight for weight they workout cheaper.
  14. This is a bit worrying. Reports that over a third of children won't be tested for Covid when they return to school next week. Sky News saying less than 1% of teachers have had the vaccine so far and still the Government refuses to let teachers jump the queue. It's thought that many parents just won't sign consent forms for children and teens to be tested and even if they do, smaller kids may not even sit still long enough to be tested. :(
  15. Erm, that's what the SNP is short for though so he's doing nothing wrong.

Yep same for me. DQ is overplayed and dare I say it John, overrated. Just a bit. Fab single still. Knocked off No.1 by my all time fave song, Mississippi.
  17. Cases really falling now and there are calls to lift restrictions much sooner than Boris plans.

Both are good but far too long. Needed 4 min.lopping off each.
  19. Okay thanks. We'll do that, go together then and hope we're lucky.
  20. Going for my first jab on Saturday in Westfield, Stratford. Second one in May. Wife's going too Sat but later in day. Couldn't get two together. They didn't send for us. You can now book online if you're over 60. You need your NHS number but can get that easily by entering your name and postcode and D.O.B. The only other venue was the Dome in two weeks so took the Westfield one. Mine's 1.50 and wife's is 4.10.

Yes, one of my faves by them. Great single.
  22. Sky News saying Boris is considering having non-compulsory morning classes in summer and also Saturdays to help kids catch up, especially years 6, 11 and 13. Williamson is all for it apparently but teachers unions aren't. I foresee a big clash ahead. I think it's a good idea. Either that or cut the summer holidays by a week or two weeks. Say a week either end would work well I think. They're looking at both possibilities.

  24. Curtain Call - The Hits by Eminem is good if you don't want to buy all his albums.
  25. Wouldn't say More Abba Gold is better than Gold but is just as good and more people should discover it. The lesser hits and some album tracks too. The 2-disc The Definitive Collection with all the singles in chronological order is the best one really.
