As I say Dr,. I'm not a lawyer and no offence but don't believe you are. This is a fierce debate at present amongst the very top barristers in the US. If they can't agree I doubt we can and they've examined transcripts from the TV stations of every word of his speech that afternoon. You see one or two paragraph's do suggest incitement but then he tells them to be peaceful. Do you take individual paragraphs or sentences separately or the article as a whole? Only a jury they say can decide as it's very very difficult. I wish he'd take the case to court as this will hang over him forever. Let's have a definitive verdict one way or another.

I fully agree. As I said to Trump in the letter I sent to him this week, he should be attending Biden's inauguration on Wednesday. Would have shown him as a real man and enhance his reputation for 2024. The better man accepts defeat and moves on, determined to win next time. I believe that's a quote.

The question of whether he did actually incite the riots is actually dividing US lawyers. If you read a full factual transcript of his speech he did ask for peaceful protest in one paragraph. In others it was borderline whether it was incitement. He asked them to march to the Capitol but nowhere does he tell them to attack it. Before you all jump on me, it's being debated amongst the top lawyers and barristers in the US at present. They're very best legal experts in America. They say it would be better decided by a jury.- rather than the US senate as it's not a nice thing to hang over him for the rest of his life as 5 people died. I'm not and hope they would attend his funeral and respect the fact that he held the Office of President. He'd be eligible for a full State funeral in DC and the current President always usually attends. I believe he joked once at a dinner that he'd never be admitted to the secret past-presidents meetings. :D

According to the Daily Mail Trump's been banned from the secret exclusive Past Presidents Club after a secret vote by all the living ex-Presidents, Carter, Clinton, Bush and Obama. It's an exclusive club where they all meet at various locations but particularly one unassuming upstairs flat in Washington, sometimes with spouses but mostly without, for short holidays, drinks, meals, game of cards, snooker, pool or darts or just generally to chat and reminisce. Carter hasn't traveeled to any recent meet-ups but they've all been to his house. Venues and dates are all top secret. Am sure Trump's not bothered. It's also thought no ex-President will attend his funeral either. :( Make him a pariah all they want but very recent polls, taken after Jan. 6th, show he still has huge support both in the Republican party and country. It's like they're trying to pretend he didn't exist. Well he did and does. You can't erase history folks. He has been a President after all and it would be disgusting if no living ex Presidents attended his funeral. :angry:

Yep was looking at the venue earlier on Wiki. The whole town, all roads around the hotel, beach, even a seaside cafe will all be closed for a full WEEK beforehand when the SS moves in they say. Do they compensate businesses for this? They'll lose millions especially if it's nice weather. The hotel itself won't take guests for several days before at the insistence of the SS. Do they compensate the hotel? I suppose the fee they'll charge for hosting the G7 will more than cover it and footed by taxpayers.

Biden hopes to make his first foreign visit to the UK. Foreign Secretary Dominic Rabb will go to the White House first though soon. The June G7 meeting will be held in Cornwall, Covid permitting, and Biden should be there.

There are a lot of people who hate Biden and think he's an illegitimate President. Will need the best security over the next few years and no mistakes or gaps. Hope he'll be okay. Sky News saying today that President-elect Biden is said to be very upset that he can't ride the Amtrak train in to Washington from his home in Delaware. The 89 minute journey is considered far too risky even at an unannounced day or time with SS bodyguards. He'll probably never ride the train again. He rode the same route morning and evening alone when he was a Senator so that he could get home to his young children every evening after his wife was killed. He continued right up to becoming the candidate for VP in 2008 and got SS protection. It's not confirmed whether he'll travel to DC tomorrow or Tuesday but he'll stay with his family in an unannounced top hotel the night before. They don't want to take him in on the day itself. Kamala and her family will stay in a different hotel for security reasons.

This is a bit worrying. From Sky News. Ice cream has been found to have been contaminated with COVID-19 in China after three samples tested positive for the virus. Anti-epidemic authorities in north China's Tianjin Municipality are tracing people who may have been in contact with the batches, which were produced by Tianjin Daqiaodao Food Company. All of the products produced by the firm have been sealed and contained after the samples it sent to the municipal centre for disease control this week tested positive for coronavirus.

The polling is interesting as many in the Republican establishment hoped to move on from Trump after he lost the presidency, the House and the Senate to the Democrats during his four year term. And the polling will no doubt play a deciding factor in how many Republican senators dare to turn on the President at his upcoming impeachment trial if he remains a realistic candidate in 2024.
