Whilst I won’t object to anonymity being given a try, I don’t actually enjoy the anonymous contests as much on the site. It typically kills discussion because you can’t really talk about your own entry and why you sent it etc, and you can’t as easily reply to odds and predictions etc. I guess I just feel it works well and, you know, if it ain’t broke… I do get the feeling frustrated if a song DNQs and lots from the other semi seem to like it, and I definitely understand why regular DNQs becomes dispiriting though.

I do believe that people vote for the song and not the person behind it. I’ve sent all sorts of styles over the past year and the people who have supported and pointed the tracks have shifted accordingly.

I do like Suburbia, but it isn't one of my absolute faves of theirs. It was a great choice to remix it for the single though as the album version wouldn't have been anywhere near as big a hit. Fade to Grey is wonderful, a definite synth classic and one that somewhat underperformed by only peaking at #8. It sounds like something that should have easily made the top 3 to me. Family Affair is another brilliant one, it's probably my favourite R&B track of its era. I didn't think much of it when it first came out but it grew on me enormously after a couple of weeks and I ended up buying it - it was great to see it turn into such a hit for her, the following two singles were also among her best <3

Zephyra Continuum were one of the last ones I removed from my shortlist, they were about 12th for me - not that it helps much now, but the song deserved better than 8 points :/

I have never noticed this but I can see it now!! I haven't heard the song in years but it was a personal chart #1 for me back at the beginning of 2006, quite the flashback On a similar note, there are parts of Art vs Science track that remind me of Mickey by Toni Basil (see 2:22 as an example)

Agree - I'm on my second listen through and it's almost impossible to vote in, I'd be more than happy for this to be a playlist on a night out. No idea how I'm whittling this down to just ten songs On a side note, Blood Cultures - Unarchiver was the track I was going to send to BJSC this month before I heard the washing track

Rent is one of my most listened to Pet Shop Boys tracks. The lyrics are wonderful and I enjoy the comparatively understated production as it really complements the vocal delivery

I have to agree. But I'm loving that people are even talking about it being a contender as I just really wanted a few people to love it as much as I do. (Neliönoirism, your mum does the washing. She doesn't need the colour care tablets)

Definitely not! Edit: I was saying I thought I’d read they were Swedish but turns out he is from London ooops - but even so, I think the idea is fairly universal even if the humour is possibly a bit British. I genuinely think he nails most of the analogies

Did it go well? I entered it knowing it was likely to be love/hate/wtf Hope you still like it next time, I’ve yet to tire of it - partly because I do love the production as well. But also because bits like the male feminism bit just haven’t got old at all for me
