Round 7: Year End Survivor #112
Definitely J-Lo. Song 4 Mutya must be saved!

The Gallup Years- Top 10 Sales- 1989
So essentially they crossed Pete Waterman and have since mysteriously disappeared? Google says that they are part of the mystery of the "lost PWL artists". Sounds like a Harlan Coben tv adaptation in the making.

The Gallup Years- Top 10 Sales- 1989
I Beg Your Pardon is a decent track. It’s quite New Order in style, but spliced with more pop elements… I liked it a lot at the time
-
Pulp - More
I’m not in love with it. It’s okay enough but I much preferred After You, albeit that’s a long time ago now

To be fair, a 4lp set would typically go for that sort of value even outside of RSD. Glad you got one Jester, hopefully it will be good!

The Gallup Years- Top 10 Sales- 1989
That’s a pretty decent top 10 there. Love Like a Prayer obvs and glad to see it make the top, but also really like Donna Summer, Paula Abdul, Soul II Soul and Guns n Roses… plus agree that the Reynolds Girls is okay too, so bad it’s good territory

I didn’t even bother going… in fact I haven’t been for years now in person. The Oasis one in principle seems okay but I’m not convinced from the photos that it’s worth it, just 4 coloured records that appear to have no link to the theming at all.

I love Got ‘Til It’s Gone, one of my favourite Janet tracks and a great use of the sample

Top 10 Hits that reference a company or business in the title
Nu Shooz - I Can't Waitrose On a similar and more genuine supermarket theme, Bennett had a #34 single called Mum's Gone To Iceland

Round 6: Year End Survivor #112
Good Charlotte for me this time. The two Mutya tracks are easily my favourites of this round <3
-
The Final: Year End Survivor #111
Breaking my back just to vote this way
-
Round 3: Ultimate Survivor #11
I know this is a long running contest and you're usually good with rules and numbers Jim, but I think you may have mistook the rules on this one for voting for the best track? 😝

Song Covers SoundClash #26
Definitely Alanis on this one, I really like her version where as ATB’s version of Killer is nowhere near as good as the original
-
Least favourite Lady Gaga 2nd single ● ROUND 2
Do What U Want should be next out for me. I actually prefer most of the later singles left to the earlier ones
-
The Gallup Years- Top 10 Sales- 1989
The Bananas and Lananeeneenoonoo are actually probably my favourite new one this week 😃
-
Lorde - What Was That
Ooooooo what was that? 🤩

Chart Battle Rewind: The Shapeshifters vs Rachel Stevens
Definitely Lola's Theme, I really enjoyed Back to Basics too - both great house tracks. Some Girls is a decent enough song though, and one of the better pop tracks of the year so it was unlucky to be up against such a great track

The Gallup Years- Top 10 Sales- 1989
Really like Leave Me Alone, I think it was the single of his that made me like his music - specifically I can remember finding the music video absolutely fascinating. I also like that Sam Brown track, it's a really good example of an 80s ballad imo
-
Round 8: Year End Survivor #111
Natasha Bedingfield for me

Streaming Services Chart Discussion; W/C 04/04/25
Have to say that I quite like Azizam, it's not quite as good as Shivers but probably beats most of his other singles for me.

New Music Friday
Good thread idea Joseph! I've been largely listening to the new DJ Koze album this week, together with the Destroyer album that I completely forgot was out last week. Both great imo.

Also indeed I did not previously know there was a tunnel under Lana Del Rey

The Best Song Contest in the World... Ever! Part IX - Results
They're the two I would have guessed to win also - the one I thought was Addy and the one that it turns out actually is Addy!
