The Masked Singer • Series 6
I feel like she wouldn’t do it… but I thought parts of Pufferfish’s performance sounded like Gwen Stefani

The Masked Singer • Series 6
It did sound like Gregory Porter in places, but then I thought that other parts were more ropey than Gregory normally is

The Masked Singer • Series 6
We're watching now... we thought Snail sounded slightly like Mutya (although I kinda don't think she would do it) and we've just watched Tattoo and think it sounds a bit like Sharleen Spiteri

The Best Song Contest In The World...Ever!!!
Rather pleasingly, I've now finished 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th (twice) so I'm already only 3 away from completing the top 10! *.*

YESSSS! A very well deserved winner, congratulations Severin ^_^ And, of course, many thanks to Addy for hosting - a great theme choice

The Best Song Contest In The World...Ever!!!
Oh I'm happy to see Delirium has gone down well - and bagged a few people's top spot too which is always nice. Also very happy to see Curve doing so well, would be great if they could steal the win

The Best Song Contest In The World...Ever!!!
Loved Severin's entry! I didn't know it before this contest but it was my clear favourite here

Round 5: Year End Survivor #103
Liberty X! I quite liked that Spooks song
-
Round 8: Ultimate Survivor #10
Take Me Out is probably my favourite of the bunch. Gone for Green Day.

The Best Song Contest In The World...Ever!!!
You could well be right actually. In terms of being a song that was already successful (to an extent) then Placebo, Depeche Mode and Ween would definitely be the logical choices.

Gavin & Stacey • The Finale: 2024 Christmas Special
I've finally watched this and I thought it was absolutely fine. I thought it was pretty well judged, yes it was kinda predictable but it gave people the ending they would have wanted and sometimes it is nice when creators do that. Final episodes can often be let downs but I left this one feeling satisfied and smiling. Think I'll watch the documentary too given people's comments in here.

Ed Sheeran - +-=÷× (TOUR COLLECTION)
I had a flick through it this week as I wondered if I may actually quite enjoy a greatest hits by him... but it turns out I liked even less than I thought I would, Shivers is comfortably my favourite with Lego House, Bloodstream, Castle on the Hill, Afterglow and Bad Habits being the only other ones I was even vaguely interested in.

90s Top 10 sales- Week By Week- 1997
I wasn't expecting Professional Widow to increase in sales this week so that's a surprise! I was so glad when it beat People Hold On. I don't mind the Lisa Stansfield track but it was a blatant rip off and I'll always side with the original, plus it does work much better on the Tori track. En Vogue is my favourite of the new ones, I quite liked it at the time but it has aged really well imo. The Texas track is okay but I've always found it to be overrated, my favourite single from the album was probably Black Eyed Boy. Wasn't a fan of No Mercy, I was firmly into dance and indie by this point so pop music wasn't cool enough for a teenage me - oddly at the time I never noticed the similarity to Missing, I think it was Colm who pointed it out to me fairly recently and it seemed so obvious that I can't believe I never noticed it at the time.

Buzzjack’s favourite Christmas #2: the rate!
JCB Song  I grew tired of it at the time but I like it more again now in retrospect, it's actually a really sweet track that deserved its success. The video was lovely too.

90s Top 10 sales- Week By Week- 1997
I'd say the success of Professional Widow was pretty much 50/50 between Tori and Armand Van Helden... the remixer definitely provided the production and that was a massive part of the success but, as you allude to in your comments, it was the lyrics that got the track the publicity and that most definitely was down to Tori, I don't think it would have been without the contributions from either. It also seemed to be a huge hit from the Ministry of Sound Annual II, I remember nearly everyone at my school talking about it from that compilation before christmas and that was the first compilation I can remember that was really successful as a 'continuous mix' album. Even as a big Tori fan, I must concede that the remix is infinitely better than the original. I find the original to be a very difficult listen. Satan Live is even better still, was so chuffed when it finally gave Orbital a really high charting single. I prefer the live remix to the original. Also it's brilliant to see that Breathe held on this well, it really was a sustained hit for the Prodigy.

The Best Song Contest In The World...Ever!!!
Really intrigued to see how this pans out, not sure I can call a definite winner.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Freedom of the Night
I thought she was absolutely fine. There were times when she sounded a bit out of breath but I don't think it detracted from anything. She came across as pretty likeable to me, tried to keep everything light hearted and had a good mix of her own songs and some fun covers.

Your Albums of the Year!
Oh good choice Iz, I should have put that in my list too as it's great. Haven't listened to it as often as my fave 5 but it's definitely worthy of inclusion

Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl
Was a bit nervous about this following the second (and pretty awful) Chicken Run movie but we need not have worried as we both thoroughly enjoyed it, it was another masterclass in family entertainment. Amazingly I didn't even notice that Wallace had changed actor, it wasn't until afterwards that Mr D* pointed out that Peter Sallis had passed away. I read that Ben Whitehead was the new voice actor, he did a great job.

The Gallup Years- Top 10 Sales- 1988
I definitely can remember Kylie and Bros, both of those albums were christmas presents for my brother and I that year. We hadn't yet got to the point where we wanted music ourselves though so I can't have been too interested in the charts overall
-
The Gallup Years- Top 10 Sales- 1988
I was definitely more aware of the music out in 1988, or at least the very popular tracks, but I don't think I'd started following the charts yet so this will still be quite a surprise for me
