  1. I honestly wouldn't - I'm Breathless is definitely corny but it's okay if you go into it with the right mood. ie, wanting to listen to a tongue in cheek musical soundtrack, plus I do actually like most of the songs on the second half of it for what they are Evita is just plain boring to me

Controversy is FAR too low :( It's by far my favourite of his early singles, that drive to the rhythm and the chorus is really infectious after a few plays The two Diamonds & Pearls tracks are brilliant as well, in fact most of that album is pretty special. Thunder got booted up my ranking on my revised list as it's just such an epic album opener
  3. Agree! Even her I'm Breathless era is more impactful :D

Gosh I haven't thought about that album in a very long time. I too bought it off the back of loving her with Damien, but I can't recall much about the album now tbh. Glad you've got it though, it's always nice to manage to bag something you want that much ^_^

New Power Generation and My Name Is Prince are both amazing. The former is such a good example of the sound, it's almost like an early C&C Music Factory single and certainly sounds like it influenced a lot of early 90s US music. My Name is Prince is also fantastic, I didn't like it much at the time but it really is a funky track that has held up well
  6. Oh I've just realised that I got an 18 from Lex! That has to be very much a rarity :D - thank you!
  7. Oh FFS! Another one here who thinks that the best song has now gone... Still voting Natasha - I think I'm going to end up voting for Robbie to win at this rate.

I get the same blue screen message as Wardy - and if I try to access it from google I get this:
  9. 10 Water Babies - Under The Tree 09 Glasvegas - A Snowflake Fell (And It Felt Like A Kiss) 08 Sufjan Stevens - Christmas Unicorn 07 Kelly Clarkson - Underneath The Tree 06 Coldplay- Christmas Lights 05 Hurts - All I Want For Christmas Is New Year's Day 04 Fleet Foxes - White Winter Hymnal - this is better but it's not really a christmas song 03 Leona Lewis - One More Sleep 02 Courteeners - Winter Wonderland 01 The Killers - Cowboy's Christmas Ball

I find the whole Batman project to be very underwhelming and messy.

I'm having issues too since the IOS update - I can't get on to the site on my mobile at all now, not even from google
  12. It’s honestly one of my favourite Christmas songs, should have been much bigger

The Holy River - I originally gave that one some points but after a few plays I thought I was just being generous because it was newer so bumped it out of my ranking. It was still pretty decent though. Dinner With Delores is nice, I don't listen to it very often because I don't ever really turn to that album but it's definitely worthy of a few points.
  14. I didn’t! I had to look them up in the threads
  15. If anyone has had their browser tab open for over an hour then they may be able to go 'back' and see the cached results - sadly I haven't or I'd have done it for you

Ahhhh a Case Of U! Glad someone else voted for it ^_^ It took me a while to like it tbh, being so used to the Joni Mitchell original but then I read about how much she liked his version so I persevered and I too really began to enjoy it, although I still think the outro is a little out of place. It's a fantastic song though and good taste from him to cover it.
  17. I'm probably the biggest Robyn obsessive here but I thought I'd go for something less obvious for this - Honey is my favourite of hers these days

I did try to like it as I wanted to like all the ones people had chosen to add... but it didn't grow on me, sadly. In retrospect I wish I'd selected either Willing & Able or 3 Chains O' Gold as my wildcard, the latter in particular is quite epic and I could imagine a fair few may have liked it
  19. None of my christmas staples are popular enough to be in the list but I'll go for Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Dean Martin, Darlene Love and Ronettes (Out of songs that did actually chart well, Greg Lake would have been my choice  )
  20. 161 03 Evian Christ - Yxguden (feat. Bladee) 162 27 Lawrence Hart - First Light 163 39 Body Meat - Focus 164 19 Judeline - mangata 165 26 DJ Mayhem - Inesse 166 19 Real Life - Send Me An Angel 167 20 Parannoul - A Lot Can Happen 168 04 No Mana - Solarpunk 169 07 Djrum - Broken Glass Arch 170 24 CHINCHILLA - 1:5 Qualifiers: 9/10 Wins: 0 Top 5s: 2 Top 10s: 3 Top 20s: 6 Favourite entry of my own: Judeline - mangata and Djrum - Broken Glass Arch (not choosing between them!) Least favourite entry of my own: Body Meat - Focus Favourite discovery: I think this may actually be CMAT from this contest - it's not quite a discovery in that I'd definitely heard it before but it has grown on me no end since hearing it here and it's the only entry of the year that's prompted me to spend a long time listening to the artist. It has felt a very 'meh' kinda year for FLJ, I was surprised to see that I'd got 6 top 20 finishes, albeit three of them only scraped it so that's probably why. I'm definitely ready for the break over christmas as I feel like this year hasn't really sparked as much enjoyment for me - but these things come and go so no worries, and I can't grumble too much obvs as 9 qualifiers and three top 10s is not to be sniffed at. I think it partly comes from me not having found anything to send this year that I personally think is likely to challenge my list of faves - I've drifted into the territory Harve mentioned the other day around spending more time listening to things here than actually finding things to send and share.
  21. I think I’ll have enjoyed this most as a way of celebrating the various people and tastes on display across the site, it’s interesting seeing what people have chosen. I’m not quite so sure I’ll enjoy listening as much(!)
  22. OMG soooooo close to that elusive 23rd place :drama: Well done Kath on another win ^_^ and thank you Chez for hosting. Very glad that my 18 did so well, it’s put me on a real CMAT listening binge this past couple of weeks
  23. We watched this and it was fun, a really great showcase for her and everything worked well with an orchestra. I just wish they had showed more of it, only an hour with interview bits as well simply wasn't long enough
  24. Found myself listening to this one a fair bit... rpMFfwoBZIc This is also really nice: VdzhTcsiKbM
