Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas? (2024 Ultimate Mix)
Band Aid II is utterly horrendous and I'm totally on board with them ignoring it. The other 3 versions are at least kind of compatible in sound so I can understand why they're using those together. I'm intrigued by the mention of Underworld on this version - their work on the music for the 2012 Olympics showed they can do production extremely well when they put their mind to it

Round 2: Year End Survivor #100
Went for Air Hostess, but that is Take That's worst single from their second eras so it won't be long before I'm gunning for Greatest Day

Too many MGMT votes already

Round 5: Year End Survivor #99
I like them all to some degree, so I'm going to go with one that's out of sync with its peak year - Dead or Alive it is.

Record of the Decade: 2014-2023 - The Final Results
New peak for Kill v. Maim - shame it’s not quite top 40 but I’ll take it

Round 8: Year End Survivor #98
Calvin quite a way behind the other two for me

If I remember correctly, that only just missed out on points for me

The Trevor Horn Rate Results
This rate prompted me to get Seal’s second album on vinyl as it was reissued earlier this year… the production is astonishing on it, the clarity in particular between the various layers. It’s possibly my favourite Trevor Horn associated album

I’m surprised, if not disappointed, that Belfast Child didn’t do better.

🐟 BJSC CLXX / Confirmations 🐟
I've just changed to something that is so far away from something I'd usually send. But Mr D* has been playing it on and off and I've grown to quite like it - I think people who usually vote FLJ will quite possibly hate it as it's borderline X Factor ballad and it's a République d'Áskorza artist recycle haha but I feel like sending something completely different for a change.

Glad to see Circles make it this far, it’s by far his best track for me

Purple Rate - The Prince Rate
I love 90s Prince, particularly early 90s and was expecting to be quite alone in that

Gaga headlining Coachella 2025
She would smash Glastonbury to be fair, would love to see her headline there

90s Top 10 Sales- Week By Week- 1996
To be fair, Insomnia does have a pretty decent claim to that title. Loved Faithless and it's the obvious classic in this bunch, but I do also adore Beautiful Ones as Suede notched up two classic singles in a row for me. Not bad from the Spice Girls either to be fair, not something I'd listen to very often but I do think it's decent.

The Trevor Horn Rate Results
Prayer for the Dying is FAR too low but I suspected it would end up doing worse than it deserves to. It's a really beautiful song imo, although I only really came to appreciate it when I got the album so maybe it isn't as immediate as some of the others.

The Trevor Horn Rate Results
Killer was the most difficult to rank for me. It's clearly an amazing song but I do prefer the original with Adamski so I couldn't bring myself to award it any more points. Certainly not a bad re-recording though, and I prefer the album version.

Anniversary Entries
I never know how many entries I've had so consequently I completely missed my 50th one. I think Bré somehow informed me that my 100th(?) wasn't too far off so I decided to send Tori Amos for it... not an act that had any particular relevance to the history of FLJ in the contest, but an act that had created several of my favourite albums of all time so it was more of a personal connection to her music as part of my life. In retrospect I could have chosen a different song from her as there are many others I prefer, but I also wanted to show a different sound to what most people would automatically associate her with.

90s Top 10 Sales- Week By Week- 1996
In retrospect I think Perfect 10 is pretty cringy, but at the time I really liked it. It's mainly the lyrics that do it, the tune and production is still very catchy.

The BMRB Years- Top 10 Sales
Rio is a great track, my favourite of their 80s songs but probably not quite matching Ordinary World or Come Undone in my affections. Not particularly fussed about any of the other new songs this time... talking of Time, I'm not sure I particularly like any of Culture Club's singles. Karma Chameleon is their strongest but even that isn't something I'd choose to hear particularly often.

I keep forgetting about this but will try to get it done tomorrow afternoon as I have some free time and have no inclination to do anything productive with it

Well the list time we were both considering the same thing, it went on to win so maybe it's a sign! edit - and when I say 'last, it may actually be 'only' :D
